James Gunn Teases 'Superman' Cameo in 'Peacemaker'

"Superman" is on its way and with it comes the introduction of the DCU. A month after "Superman" premieres, fans will be able to finally watch the second season of the hit series "Peacemaker". If you're worried there won't be that many connections between the two projects, some words from DC Studios co-chief James Gunn should quell those concerns. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Gunn made it clear the connections are there, including a hint that one of the major characters from "Superman" will make an appearance... maybe the Man of Steel himself?

"We see a lot of different characters from 'Superman' in the [season], [including] Isabela and Nathan and Sean, and then we see a bunch of other characters later on in the season from other parts of the DCU and from 'Superman'," Gunn told EW. "There might even be one really, really, really big cameo near the end of the show."

We already knew Frank Grillo would be appearing in both "Superman" and "Peacemaker" as the new head of A.R.G.U.S., Rick Flag Sr. And if you've had the chance to see the first full trailer for "Peacemaker" then you've seen Peacemaker's disastrous interview with Maxwell Lord, Hawkgirl, and Guy Gardner. But from what Gunn says, it seems like we'll be getting even more "Superman" characters in the season, and it's tempting to speculate about the "really, really, really big cameo."
If David Corenswet's Superman does show up at the end of "Peacemaker" Season 2, it might not be that different from the end of the very first season. The inaugural season ends with Peacemaker and his allies saving the world and the Justice League showing up afterwards. While Superman and Wonder Woman are both kept shrouded, John Cena's antihero actually does interact a bit with Jason Momoa's Aquaman and Ezra Miller's The Flash.
Cameos won't be the only connections between "Superman" and "Peacemaker" either. Gunn told EW, "You've seen what we call the QUC, the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, in the first season of Peacemaker, and we see more about that technology in Superman. The QUC is the center of the story in Peacemaker season 2."
"Peacemaker" Season 2 premieres on HBO Max on August 21.
