"Superman" is on its way and with it comes the introduction of the DCU. A month after "Superman" premieres, fans will be able to finally watch the second season of the hit series "Peacemaker". If you're worried there won't be that many connections between the two projects, some words from DC Studios co-chief James Gunn should quell those concerns. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Gunn made it clear the connections are there, including a hint that one of the major characters from "Superman" will make an appearance... maybe the Man of Steel himself?

"We see a lot of different characters from 'Superman' in the [season], [including] Isabela and Nathan and Sean, and then we see a bunch of other characters later on in the season from other parts of the DCU and from 'Superman'," Gunn told EW. "There might even be one really, really, really big cameo near the end of the show."

We already knew Frank Grillo would be appearing in both "Superman" and "Peacemaker" as the new head of A.R.G.U.S., Rick Flag Sr. And if you've had the chance to see the first full trailer for "Peacemaker" then you've seen Peacemaker's disastrous interview with Maxwell Lord, Hawkgirl, and Guy Gardner. But from what Gunn says, it seems like we'll be getting even more "Superman" characters in the season, and it's tempting to speculate about the "really, really, really big cameo."
If David Corenswet's Superman does show up at the end of "Peacemaker" Season 2, it might not be that different from the end of the very first season. The inaugural season ends with Peacemaker and his allies saving the world and the Justice League showing up afterwards. While Superman and Wonder Woman are both kept shrouded, John Cena's antihero actually does interact a bit with Jason Momoa's Aquaman and Ezra Miller's The Flash.
Cameos won't be the only connections between "Superman" and "Peacemaker" either. Gunn told EW, "You've seen what we call the QUC, the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, in the first season of Peacemaker, and we see more about that technology in Superman. The QUC is the center of the story in Peacemaker season 2."
"Peacemaker" Season 2 premieres on HBO Max on August 21.

Peacemaker season 2 finally has a teaser trailer – here are 3 things you need to know about the hit Max show's return

It's official: Peacemaker season 2 will be streaming on Max from Thursday, August 21 at 9.00pm ET/PT. John Cena will be back as the titular hero, and many villains' butts will be kicked. The official synopsis says: "The new season follows Christopher 'Chris' Smith, aka Peacemaker, the vigilante Super Hero as he struggles to reconcile his past with his newfound sense of purpose while continuing to kick righteous evil-doer butt in his misguided quest for peace at any cost." Season 1 stars John Cena, Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma, Steve Agee and Robert Patrick are all back, and this time around they're joined by a new cast that includes by Frank Grillo, David Denman, Sol Rodriguez, and Tim Meadows. As you'll see from the trailer below, the second season looks set to deliver one of the best Max show's trademark mix of whip-cracking action and whip-smart wisecracking. Here's what you need to know. One of the problems facing season 2 is that it's in a different universe to season 1: James Gunn set Peacemaker season 1 in the DC Extended Universe, which is now gone, so season 2 takes place in the DCU. That raises lots of questions, which we've explained in our in-depth hub (linked above). It looks like at least part of the answer is at the end of the trailer, which shows not only Peacemaker but also... Peacemaker. If they aren't the DCU Peacemaker and the DCEU Peacemaker then we'll be amazed. In the trailer we see Peacemaker auditioning very uncomfortably for Maxwell Lord's Justice League, while Guy Gardner and Hawkgirl look on. Presumably this was filmed during production of Superman, which means we shouldn't expect them to play a huge part in season 2. But it's interesting because this Justice League is much more fun than the DCEU one, especially in its portrayal of Hawkgirl. It looks like Flagg Sr. is going to be a key character in season 2 after his starring role in the Creature Commandos animated series, and he's got very good reasons to go after Peacemaker: in The Suicide Squad (spoiler alert!), Peacemaker killed his son. That makes him more nuanced than the usual superhero show villain: he's not a monster; he's a grieving parent. Going by this new trailer there's lots to be excited about, so August can't come soon enough. Season 2 of Peacemaker will be streaming on Max from August 21 and will see Rick Flag Sr "on a mission" for justice. The first season of Peacemaker is streaming on Max in the US and Now in the UK. 5 of the biggest streaming announcements from Warner Bros. Discovery Upfront 2025, from HBO Max shows to the new Superman trailer

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Some of the best Max shows have been showcased at the Warner Bros. Discovery Upfronts 2025, alongside what's to come from across the media giant's studios and networks. There's been plenty of new info across the board, with news on both shows and WBD streaming and broadcast platforms as the company bigwigs take to the stage. With announcements coming thick and fast, the big news can be easy to miss, but here we break down the five most intriguing pieces of news from the day, featuring Westeros returns, baffling rebrands, new streaming services and more. Top of the bill is the Man of Steel himself with a brand new trailer — which you can watch above — for James Gunn's upcoming Superman. Starring David Corenswet as Supes, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, the new movie is an entirely new take on the Big Blue Boy Scout, although with all the multiverse shenanigans happening across superhero cinema lately, we wouldn't rule out some connection to the supposedly dead DCEU. The latest trailer showcases much of what we've seen before, including the Fortress of Solitude and the big screen debut of super-cainine Krypto and further showcases the themes Gunn seems to be playing with around Kal-El's status as an immigrant and vigilante. Gunn has absolutely nailed every superhero story he's turned his hand to thus far, and I'll be there as a new dawn breaks on DC's cinematic offerings on July 11. It's bad news for fans of the Song of Ice and Fire saga as A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has its release window moved to 2026. Based on George R. R. Martin's The Hedge Knight novella, the new show follows the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey) and s squire Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell) as they travel the fictional land in the time between Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. Widely expected to land this year, the third Westeros-set show will instead arrive in 'winter' 2026, leaving us sweet summer children hoping that winter is coming sooner rather than later. WBD also announced a whole host of shows due to land across their networks in the coming year, among which is High Value Target, formerly known as Debriefing the President. The series, based on John Nixon's book detailing the interrogation of Saddam Hussein, stars Joel Kinnaman as Nixon, a CIA analyst who became the first American to positively identify the dictator in the wake of his capture. Other new shows teased during the Upfront included Guy's Flavortown Games hosted by Guy Fieri, HGTV's Renovating the Bachelor Mansion and Discovery's ludicrously titled Shark Week special Dancing With Sharks. Murder doc They Know What They Did winks to narrator Jennifer Love Hewitt's soon-to-be-returning slasher franchise, while TLC's 90 Day franchise continues to expand with 90 Day: Hunt for Love. Returning shows include Rick and Morty, Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking and My Adventures with Superman, while Max hit The Pitt will receive a linear broadcast on TNT ahead of its second season. Perhaps the most surprising piece of news coming out of the upfronts was the announcement that WBD's flagship streaming service would be adding the HBO moniker back into its name. The streamer initially went by HBO Max when it was launched in 2020, trading on the reputation HBO had as the home of the best US TV had to offer. In 2023, WBD dropped the prefix, rebranding the streamer to simply, Max, moving away from the focus on prestige TV and introducing more varied programming, even going so far as to drop some of HBO's biggest hits, such as Westworld, from its library. But now those three letters are due a comeback, with the service once again set to be known as HBO Max after a relaunch this summer. Seemingly realising that a quality over quantity approach might be the way forward, WBD said: 'No consumer today is saying they want more content, but most consumers are saying they want better content.' This seems to imply a shift for WBD, with the readdition of HBO to the name implying a refocus to the sort of prestige television that made the network be able to boldly state 'It's not TV. It's HBO' in the first place. Following the ill fated CNN+, the news network are once again entering the streaming world with a brand new service set to arrive in the fall. After an initial US launch, the platform will be available globally with CEO Mark Thompson call it 'the first true new streaming service.' The streamer will also bundle which recently went behind a paywall, and will include live channels, news feeds and exclusive programming. Current cable and satellite subscribers will be able to access the service at no extra cost, and CNN will, for now at least, continue to have a presence on Max after its rebrand. Amber Heard

Amber Heard has acted in many television shows and movies including 'Aquaman,' and 'Criminal Minds.' Heard also had a lot of press around her very public relationship with now ex-husband, Johnny Depp. She was born on April 22, 1986, in Austin, Texas to parents Paige and David Heard. Heard, whose net worth is now $-6 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth losing the defamation trial to Depp, got her film debut in the movie, 'Friday Night Lights' in 2004. After that movie, she went on to work in many other films like 'North Country,' 'All the Boys Love Mandy Lane,' 'Pineapple Express' and 'Zombieland.' She also had various television appearances in shows like 'The O.C,' 'Criminal Minds,' 'Californication' and 'Hidden Palms.' Some other films Heard was in during the earlier stages of her career were 'The Stepfather,' 'The Ward,' 'Drive Angry,' 'Syrup,' and '3 Days to Kill.' In 2011, Heard played Chenault in 'The Rum Diary.' She and Depp met during the filming of the movie. They were both in relationships at the time, but eventually started dating in 2012. The pair got married in 2015, but got divorced two years later. They have been in a huge legal battle since Heard wrote an op-ed for The Washington Post, implying that she was abused by Depp. After a six week trial in Fairfax, Virginia that millions tuned in to watch, the jury found that Heard had defamed Depp and awarded the actor $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive, which were reduced to $350,000 due to Virginia's law. Heard was awarded $2 million in compensatory damages due to the statements made by Depp's attorney Adam Waldman. Heard owes $10.35 million to Depp, an amount that her lawyers have said she cannot afford to pay. Heard and her team have tried to appeal, but have been unsuccessful in their endeavors. One big role that the actress is known for is playing Mera, in 'Aquaman' with Jason Mamoa. She also plays the character in the 2017 'Justice League' and in 'Zack Snyder's Justice League.' She is in the 'Aquaman' sequel, 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom' that is set to come out in 2023, even though her appearance in the "Aquaman" sequel has became controversial after the legal situation with her and Depp. Even though Depp was Heard's most public relationship, she has also been connected with painter and photographer Tasya van Ree in 2008, model Cara Delevingne, Tesla founder and billionaire Elon musk on and off from 2016-2018 and art dealer Vito Schnabel. She does however have a a daughter Oonagh Paige Heard, who was born via surrogate April 8, 2021.
