Bengals great Willie Anderson saluted on NFL All Quarter Century team

Cincinnati Bengals legend Willie Anderson just missed the Hall of Fame (with a twist) this year. But Anderson continues to receive major honors for his fantastic career. Next up for Anderson is being highlighted on ESPN's Aaron Schatz and Seth Walder NFL All Quarter Century team effort: 'Even though our time span cuts off the first four seasons of Anderson's career, what he did in the nine years from 2000 on earns him a spot on this list. He played in 16 regular-season games every year from 2000 to 2006 with the Bengals.' RELATED: Bengals, Shemar Stewart nuclear option includes 2026 NFL draft route Anderson was a four-time All-Pro, among his other major honors. He was arguably the best right tackle of his generation and certainly played in an era where the importance of right tackles wasn't as widely as respected as their counterparts on the left. Little honors like this seem to keep hinting at Anderson getting a gold jacket sooner rather than later. RELATED: Bengals standouts after mandatory minicamp includes surprises

4 Broncos players, 1 coach make ESPN's All Quarter Century team

ESPN recently compiled a list of players to headline their NFL All Quarter Century team. The list, which detailed the best NFL players since 2000, featured the likes of Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady and Priest Holmes (yes, he's ranked over Adrian Peterson and Ladainian Tomlinson, in which the former is on their practice squad.) Nevertheless, the good news is four Denver Broncos players and a former coach made the Quarter Century Team. Of course, Peyton Manning, Champ Bailey and DeMarcus Ware would come to mind. But Brian Dawkins, who spent a majority of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles, also spent three seasons with the Broncos for the latter part of his career and still notched two Pro Bowls (2009, 2011) and an All-Pro nod (2009). Lastly, Wade Phillips, the architect of the 'No Fly Zone' defense of the 2015 Super Bowl champions, was named as the defensive coordinator for the team. Phillips had stints as a head coach, but his time as a DC with the Broncos will have him immortalized, just like with this list. Check out the complete list here. How many Rams made ESPN's All Quarter Century Team?

How many Rams made ESPN's All Quarter Century Team? There's been no lack of star power for the Rams this century. In the Sean McVay era alone, the Rams have had Aaron Donald, Jalen Ramsey, Cooper Kupp, Matthew Stafford, Jared Goff and Todd Gurley all suit up for them. And in the early 2000s, it was Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk, Isaac Bruce, Torry Holt and the other Greatest Show on Turf playmakers leading the way. Dating back to the start of this century, how many of the game's best players have played for the Rams? ESPN created an All Quarter Century Team with 25 years of the 2000s in the books and the Rams had a handful of selections. At defensive tackle, Donald was an obvious choice. He's a future Hall of Famer and legitimately one of the best defenders in NFL history, dominating for the entirety of his career from 2014-2023. Donald is certainly the greatest defensive tackle of the past 25 years and possibly the greatest in NFL history. His 20.5 sacks in 2018 set a single-season record for a primary defensive tackle, while his career total is second among defensive tackles (since 1982) behind John Randle's 137.5. Bobby Wagner only had a one-year stint with the Rams but he's still an all-time great at linebacker. He was one of ESPN's five selections at the position, along with Ray Lewis, Brian Urlacher, Lavonte David and Luke Kuechly. At cornerback, Ramsey didn't quite make the cut but he was chosen as a 'practice squad' player behind Darrelle Revis, Champ Bailey, Ronde Barber, Richard Sherman and Patrick Peterson. Ramsey played three and a half years for the Rams and was a Pro Bowler each season, unquestionably establishing himself as one of the best cornerbacks of this generation. Sean McVay missed out on the coaching staff and was snubbed for Kyle Shanahan, who ESPN picked to be the team's offensive coordinator. Wade Phillips was chosen as the defensive coordinator, a position he held with the Rams from 2017-2019 – his final job in the NFL. Had Gurley not gotten hurt, he might've had a case at running back but with only three players picked at that position, it would've been a tough group to crack. Priest Holmes, Christian McCaffrey and Derrick Henry were the selections, with LaDainian Tomlinson on the practice squad.

Former Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury named to NHL's Quarter Century team

Goalies were the last players named to the NHL's Quarter Century team, including a former Penguin! Marc-Andre Fleury, 40, who officially retired from the NHL after 21 seasons when the Minnesota Wild were eliminated from the first round of the playoffs, was among the six goalies voted onto the league's team recognizing the top 25 players of the last 25 years. He joins former teammates Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, who were named to the team on Friday. Advertisement Fleury, a three-time Stanley Cup Champion with the Penguins, played 1,051 regular-season games with a 575-339-97 record and 76 shutouts. He also played 170 playoff games, tallying 92 wins and 16 shutouts. The netminder also earned several individual awards throughout his storied career, including a Vezina Trophy and William M. Jennings Trophy. Fleury was drafted by the Penguins with the first overall pick in the 2003 NHL Draft and spent 13 years with the team. The club says he still holds most of its goaltending records, including games played, wins, and shutouts, for both the regular season and the playoffs. Players were named to the Quarter Century team through a two-stage campaign that included input from NHL officials and a fan vote.
