Walyalup (Fremantle) Dockers recruit Quinton Narkle to miss six to eight weeks with knee fracture

Walyalup (Fremantle) recruit Quinton Narkle is set to miss at least two months of football after suffering a knee injury playing for Peel Thunder. Narkle went down painfully during the first half of the WAFL clash against West Perth at Lane Group Stadium on Saturday and limped off in the hands of trainers. Executive General Manager of Football Joe Brierty revealed the news was as bad as it looked, saying the former Geelong and Port Adelaide forward would miss at least six weeks of football. 'Following scans, we can confirm that Quinton has suffered an undisplaced fracture to the bone,' Brierty said. 'This will see Narks miss the next 6 - 8 weeks of football, but positively, he will avoid surgery, with confirmation that he has avoided damage to his ACL graft, which is great news. 'Since joining the Club in the SSP period at the end of last year, he has worked really hard to integrate into our program and get back to playing AFL footy. It's a disappointing setback for him. 'Our performance health team will support him through his rehab, and we look forward to seeing Narks' playing again later in the season.' The 27-year-old made his Dockers debut in round seven as the substitute and booted his first goal for the Club in the Friday night loss to St Kilda in round eight. However, after two appearances off the sub bench, he was dropped back to the WAFL. It adds to the Club's injury woes as star big man Sean Darcy was subbed out of Walyalup's tight defeat to Collingwood at Optus Stadium on Thursday night with ice on his knee. Darcy missed the start of the season with soft tissue injuries and has missed so many games in the last three seasons the Dockers sent the ruckman to Qatar to help get his body right for the vigours of AFL. Veterans Nat Fyfe and Michael Walters are also yet to play a game in 2025 due to injuries, with neither appearing likely to return before the bye. Fremantle will be known as Walyalup for Sir Doug Nicholls Round.

Narkle set to sparkle on Anzac night in Dockers debut

Quinton Narkle will make his Fremantle debut when the Dockers take on Adelaide in their annual Len Hall Tribute Game at Optus Stadium on Friday night. The West Australian confirmed on Thursday afternoon that Narkle would come into the side and is expected to be the starting sub. Narkle, 27, joined the Dockers as a supplementary selection signing during the pre-season, having played 57 AFL games across stints at Geelong and Port Adelaide. The forward is coming off a string of solid games for Fremantle-aligned club Peel Thunder, including 37 disposals against East Fremantle. Quinton Narkle in action for Peel. Fremantle have made three overall changes with midfielder Jaeger O'Meara coming out of the side after he sustained a hamstring and ankle injury in the loss to Melbourne. James Aish, who was a late in for Heath Chapman against the Demons, and Bailey Banfield have been omitted for the clash with Adelaide as Chapman clears his illness. Corey Wagner has also been named to play off half back. Wagner missed the Gather Round win over Richmond with calf awareness but has overcome the issue in time to face the Crows and their forward triple threat of Taylor Walker, Riley Thilthorpe and Darcy Fogarty, who all sit inside the Coleman Medal top 10.
