Huntsville Transit offering free rides to college students and employees

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Huntsville Transit is offering free rides to college students and staff members to help the environment. This initiative seeks to reduce carbon emissions by offering free rides to those with a valid college ID from April 21-26, as the world observes Earth Day on April 22. Starstruck: 40 years since the Stars fell on Huntsville Additionally, the City of Huntsville said this initiative helps spotlight the convenience and efficiency that Huntsville Transit offers. 'We are always eager to connect with the public and demonstrate the ease and benefits of using Huntsville Transit,' Director of Parking and Public Transit Quisha Bryant said. 'And during this promotion, we also raise environmental awareness.' Huntsville Transit's environmental commitment includes encouraging people to take the bus, carpooling, vanpooling, biking and other alternatives to driving alone. Huntsville is also studying the feasibility of implementing a bus rapid transit corridor to serve key activity and employment centers along University Drive. ‘Drive with Purpose': Huntsville Transit hiring part-time paratransit bus operators

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Huntsville Transit is searching for compassionate, dedicated and service-minded people to help make a difference and serve their community by becoming part-time Paratransit Bus Operators. In this role, operators will provide safe and reliable transportation to Access riders. Access is Huntsville Transit's specialized, door-to-door, demand-response paratransit service. AMRV Resource, Conservation & Development Council announces 2 grant recipients 'We are excited to grow our team with individuals who want to make a real difference in people's lives,' said Quisha Bryant, Director of Parking & Public Transit. 'Paratransit operators provide more than just a ride – they help individuals maintain mobility and independence and are friendly faces to those who depend on our service.' Huntsville Transit is searching for applicants from various backgrounds, like caregiving professionals, certified nursing assistants, home health aides, social workers, case managers, transportation and customer service professionals, veterans and retirees.
