‘Entrepreneurs should have patience, endurance and confidence to achieve goals'
Chairman and Managing Director of Hatsun Agro Product Ltd. R.G. Chandramogan underlined that entrepreneurs should have patience, endurance and confidence to achieve their goals.
He was addressing aspiring entrepreneurs on the realities of business at the 200th edition of 'Coffee with Collector' programme organised by Virudhunagar district administration, aimed to provide guidance and motivation to young students looking to pursue entrepreneurship.
Speaking at the session, Mr. Chandramogan noted that, unlike the education system where questions come with fixed answers, life poses questions for which individuals must find their own solutions. Recalling the words of a former teacher, he said, 'Education by itself is not knowledge, but only a tool to knowledge.'
Stressing the importance of self-confidence, Mr. Chandramogan advised students to learn not only from their own experiences but also from the mistakes of others. He underlined the values of persistence, consistency, endurance, patience, and confidence as essential traits for entrepreneurs.
Recounting an anecdote from his early days, he shared a humorous exchange with a bank official to highlight the financial challenges faced during the initial years of building his company and how he navigated through them with confidence.
'I started with ignorance and confidence,' he said, adding that his breakthrough came only after a decade of dedicated effort. He encouraged students to identify their interests and explore opportunities in their chosen fields to carve out a niche.
In response to a question from an MBA student on staying innovative in a dynamic business environment, Mr. Chandramogan spoke about the need to adapt management styles in keeping with the evolving demands of the industry. 'It is important to remain constantly aware,' he said.
While acknowledging the inherent risks and long gestation period in entrepreneurship, he emphasised that the journey, though challenging , is ultimately rewarding. 'Even today, I continue to learn,' he remarked.
Following the session, Collector V.P. Jeyaseelan shared his perspective when questioned by a professor in the audience. He said, 'Talent is not something one is born with. It is consistent effort and a focused approach that lead to success in any chosen field.'
