SC allows direct expulsion of illegals: Sarma
Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the state does not require the help of the foreigners' tribunal for identification of illegal immigrants . Sarma also pointed out that the Supreme Court , in one of its orders, said the order for expulsion of illegal immigrants is still in force. He said that as per this law, the deputy commissioner can immediately order a push-back. "The constitutional bench of Supreme Court, while hearing the 6A of the Citizenship Amendment Act, has stated that it is not always necessary for the Assam government for deportation of foreigners to go to the foreigners' tribunal. PPP chairman and former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has said that cooperation between Pakistan and India's intelligence agencies could significantly reduce terrorism in South Asia. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman, who is currently leading a high-powered delegation to the US as part of a global diplomatic push to seek support following its recent conflict with India, was speaking at a press conference at UN Headquarters on Tuesday, the Dawn newspaper reported. "The mere threat to cut off the water supply of 200 million people is a violation of the UN Charter. Acting on this threat will be seen as an act of war by Pakistan," Bhutto-Zardari said.
