Premier League team target Rangers star Mohamed Diomande as part of sensational squad overhaul

Two of their star midfielders are leaving this summer RANGERS favourite Mohamed Diomande is reportedly on the radar of an EPL side as they look to make key additions to their squad. The Daily Express say that the 23-year-old could be in line for a sensational move from Ibrox to the Premier League just a year on from joining. Orel Mangala and Abdoulaye Doucoure are two that are set to depart the Merseyside outfit, with the Gers star considered an option to add some cover in that position and others. If he were to make the move he would arrive at Hill Dickinson Stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, their new home since leaving Goodison Park at the close of the season. Scottish manager David Moyes led The Toffees to a 13th placed finish in last season's league competition. Advertisement The ex-Manchester United boss said after their final game at Goodison that the noise from fans was 'unbelievable' and that they have a big season of change ahead. He said: "It cries out as a club which is desperate for good times and things to celebrate. "If you look at the disappointments they've had over recent years this now looks like something everyone's looking forward to, a change of stadium. "If I'd turned up for today's game I'd have thought this was for us winning the championship or us being in a cup final, it was amazing. Advertisement "We have to try and put us on the map in some way, I'll try. "Let's be fair, we've had to try and pull the whole club up by the boot laces. Other people before me as well, other good managers. Liam Delap tipped to snub Man Utd and Chelsea for EVERTON transfer after fans spot gesture following match vs Toffees "We've now got ourselves really in a good position, finished the season really strongly, so I'm hoping we can take the same atmosphere we had today down to the new stadium. "But we'll need to perform the way we have done over the last few weeks." Advertisement Everton chiefs had to deal carefully in the transfer market after some unsuccessful moves but with a strong end to the season and good midtable finish, things are looking on the up again. Up in Scotland, a Diomande exit would surely not be the only one as the recently confirmed American takeover brings with it big changes including a cash injection and - eventually - a new manager. Reports also suggest that Robin Propper and Ridvan Yilmaz could both be on their way to their respective former clubs in a rebuild bid. Among those to depart from the youth ranks are Adam Devine, Cole McKinnon and Archie Stevens - all three of whom made first team debuts. Former Gers boss Michael Beale tipped Devine to one day succeed James Tavernier as the club's main right-back. He spent he last six months of the current season on loan at Queen's Park. Midfielder McKinnon scored on his Premiership debut against Hearts in 2022 and came on to play his part in a 2-2 draw at Euro giants Benfica in a Europa League clash last year . He had been on loan at Ayr United for the second part of this season. Stevens, a striker, made his debut in a Premier Sports Cup match against Queen of the South in 2022 at the age of just 16. He was sent on loan to Dunfermline for the latter half of the current campaign. 'We can go forward from here': Rangers fans at Ibrox 'excited' over takeover

RANGERS fans flocked to Ibrox today to share their excitement over the club's takeover. Gers fans couldn't contain their joy over the news that the San Francisco 49ers Enterprise-led consortium is taking a 51% share in the club. They've also promised a multi-million pound investment in the Glasgow side to boost the start of their tenure. The Glasgow Times was outside the Ibrox today to hear fans' reactions to the news. Richard McKenzie, 62, from Kelvindale, said: "Oh, it's been a long time coming, but it's going to be a great thing for the club. "I think the club's got to move forward, and I think this is a great opportunity for them to move forward, and I think they can build on some of the success they've had in the past and perhaps maybe catch up with other teams." Richard McKenzie, 62, outside Ibrox (Image: Newsquest) Speaking about the £ 20million investment that's been pledged, Richard added: "Well, it's probably not enough, but we probably need to try and get some of that into the youth as well to try and bring our own players through. I think that's a good place to start." Young fan from Govan, John Ferguson, 6, just came out of the shop with a new scarf. He said, "I'm excited." When asked what he hopes to see the club do going forward, he said: "Score goals." John Ferguson, 6, outside Ibrox (Image: Newsquest) Alan Kennedy, 63, is originally from Possilpark but now lives in Canada. His four children all have Rangers tattoos and are big supporters of the club. Alan said: "Very excited about it. Hopefully, a lot more investment in the club, get us some better players and start winning some trophies." Alan Kennedy, 63, outside Ibrox (Image: Newsquest) Alan was visiting for the week and shared that his dad's ashes are buried behind the Copland Road stand goals. Speaking about the emotional connection, he said: "It's always nice to come back, and every time we watch a game and a save is made at that goal, we know dad (Alan Kennedy) had something to do with it." Lynsey Downs, 34, had just completed the stadium tour where her now-fiancé, Emma Nicoll, 28, proposed to her. Lynsey, from Renfrew, said: "Yeah, I think it's great news. I think it will bring in a lot of new players. "Hopefully, a great manager and things will start looking up for us because at the moment it's kind of a bit dreich, so hopefully it will get better." (L-R) Ryan Gormley, 30, Lynsey Downs, 34, and Emma Nicoll, 28, outside Ibrox (Image: Newsquest) The happy couple's friend, Ryan Gormley, had joined them on the tour on the 'perfect' day. Ryan, 30, from Paisley, said: "It will bring major investment to the team, whoever comes in and whoever comes out. "Very positive, and here's hoping we can go forward from here." A statement from the club confirmed that the consortium was seeking a controlling stake, with sources close to the deal suggesting it would be finalised by June. Key figures in the takeover include Paraag Marathe, president of 49ers Enterprises and chairman of Leeds United, and American health tycoon Andrew Cavenagh, who has been a frequent visitor to Ibrox. The completion of the deal, announced today, marks a new era for the club. Mr Cavenagh told the Rangers website: "We are deeply grateful for the trust placed in us by the Rangers board, shareholders, staff, and supporters. "This club's history and traditions speak for themselves, but history doesn't win matches. "We know that the true way to honour the club's heritage will be to drive performance. "Our focus is simple: elevate performance, deliver results, and bring Rangers back to where it belongs - at the top." Rangers CEO Patrick Stewart added: "From my earliest conversations with Paraag and Andrew, I have been excited and confident in the shared vision and what it could mean for the future of Rangers. "Our focus now is on the hard work ahead, preparing thoroughly for the new season, appointing the right men's head coach, and ensuring we have the structures in place to support success on the pitch."

Jimmy Stewart, 71, from Clydebank said: "I'm absolutely ecstatic, it's been dragging on and dragging on. "The priority is to get a bit of silverware next season. "We're going to the pub to celebrate." Ian Munro, 60, a shop worker from Inverness, said: "It's a seismic change. "It's similar to when Graeme Souness took over in 1986. "The £20million will be money well spent. "Silverware is achievable but getting to the Champions League is the aim. "Overall it's a good day for Rangers." James Parker from Bolton pleaded to the new ownership: "Don't leave the fans in the dark, keep us filled in on everything that is going on. "Now is the time to get in there and start again!" Graham Caldwell, 63, was born a stone's throw from Ibrox but visited the stadium from his home in Blackpool, Lancs yesterday. The heating engineer said: "£20million is nowhere near enough, we have to buy, but not stupid money." When asked about the clubs' priorities, he didn't hold back, saying: "Centre-back, left-back, right-back, and a goalscorer." April Harper, 60, from Lambhill said: "As long as they put the money into the stadium and the players, I think Rangers will come back again. "We need the players, we need Scottish players that know what it means to the club, what it means to the fans. "I'd take Souness back [as manager] he might be alright, I think Souness would do well, I think he would kick their backsides. "I don't think there has been a fight in the team." Jack Robertson, 27 came dressed for the occasion with a Stars and Stripes - and a Make Rangers Great Again cap modelled on Donald Trump's rallying call. The car repair worker, from Garthamlock, Glasgow, said: "It's about time, as everyone will know we have had a bit of a hard time in the past since about 2012, finally a bit of good news. "The team needs a lot of work, I think £20million, we're not going to say no, but it's definitely a good starting point. "This league is winnable, I don't think that they're [Celtic] not catchable, we beat them more than they beat us. Rangers ‘hold talks with former Ajax boss over becoming their next manager' as Davide Ancelotti discussions drag on

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) RANGERS have reportedly added another name to their managerial shortlist as Ibrox chiefs close in on the appointment of their new boss. SunSport has already told you how Davide Ancelotti, Russell Martin, Steven Gerrard and Brian Priske were in the frame to replace Philippe Clement. Sign up for the Rangers newsletter Sign up 1 A new manager has entered the frame Credit: Getty Liverpool legend Gerrard has seemingly dropped out of the race after rejecting an approach to make a sensational return to his former club. Ancelotti and Martin are understood to be the leading contenders as things stand. However, The Herald claim another manager has now joined the race, with former Ajax boss Francesco Farioli the latest gaffer to hold discussions with the Light Blues board. The 36-year-old is currently a free agent after he resigned from the Eredivisie giants following their dramatic title collapse which saw PSV Eindhoven clinch the title on the final day. Ajax threw away a nine point lead in the final few games which allowed Malik Tillman and Co to make it two-in-a-row following a last day shootout against Sparta Rotterdam. Emotional Farioli quit following the major disappointment and technical director Alex Kroes branded his departure "incredibly disappointing". More to follow.
