RAO band wins top places in Scotland intl contest
EDINBURGH: Warrant Officer Thani bin Mohammed bin Khamis al Amri, member of the Royal Army of Oman (RAO) band, won 6th place in the baton-bearing competition at Grade 5 of the World Music Competition in Scotland. The competition, held in the Scottish city of Perth, saw the participation of 147 bands from different countries around the world, within 3B category, in preparation for the World Championship that will be held later in Glasgow, Scotland. Grade 5 included bagpipe and drum competitions, the performance of musical pieces, military discipline and individual baton competitions. The band has so far won 16 cups and awards across the cities of Renfrew, Dumbarton, Dundonald, Bridge of Allan and Perth. It will conclude its participation in Glasgow, with the World Bands Competition (World Music Competition). — ONA

RAO band achieves advanced rankings
EDINBURGH: The Royal Army of Oman (RAO) music band has achieved advanced rankings in the initial stages of its participation in the (3B) category of the Scottish musical competitions, in preparation for the World Championship in Glasgow. The band secured fifth place in its classification. Additionally, Warrant Officer Mohammed bin Khamis al Amri earned fourth place, and Sergeant Tariq bin Naseeb al Amri achieved sixth place in the Mace Bearer competition, among dozens of participants from various countries. The band's performances are distributed across several Scottish cities, including Renfrew, Dumbarton, Dundonald, Bridge of Allan and Perth, culminating in Glasgow. This participation comes at the invitation of the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association, with over 200 bands represented by more than 7,000 musicians from around the world. Colonel Ahmed bin Salim al Shukairi, Director of Royal Army of Oman music band, stated that this participation is an opportunity to highlight Oman's cultural diversity and civilised image in a global forum that includes thousands of musicians from 200 bands worldwide. Lorraine Cameron, Provost of Renfrewshire, expressed her delight at the band's presence, commending their performance and the audience's interaction with them. - ONA

RAO Commander receives Saudi Delegation
Muscat: Maj. Gen Mattar Salim Al Balushi, Commander of the Royal Army of Oman received in his office at Al Murtafa'a Camp a delegation from the Authority for Supplies of the Saudi Armed Forces. During the meeting, the two sides explored areas of mutual military cooperation. They also discussed several matters of mutual interest. The meeting was attended by several senior RAO officers.

RAO takes part in catering competition in UK
The Royal Army of Oman (RAO) participated in the 2025 Catering Competition, held in Grantham, United Kingdom, with the participation of a number of catering crews from various countries around the world. The RAO's participation in the 2025 Catering Competition, which lasts until May 17, aims to boost the efficiency of its catering crews, hone their technical capabilities in the logistical and administrative fields as well as enhance their ability to cope with varying conditions in military operations which require high administrative readiness. It is noteworthy that the RAO catering team had previously achieved advanced positions in its previous participations and this year it hopes to maintain its advanced level in various competitions. — ONA
