Siromtoli flyover's cable-stayed-bridge clears load test, June launch likely
1 2 3 Ranchi: The 142-meter-long, cable-stayed-bridge in the city, has cleared a weeklong load testing exercise and is ready for vehicular movement, officials of the state road construction department said on Friday. With the bridge now declared fit for use, the decks have been cleared for the inauguration of the Siromtoli Flyover project in the coming weeks. The RCD put the bridge to test, which crosses the busy railway tracks a few hundred metres away from the Ranchi railway station, between Tuesday and Friday. Starting off with 100 tonnes, the load was gradually increased to 300 tonnes to assess its structural integrity, officials said. In the last leg of tests, trucks carrying 25 tonnes of crushed stone each were placed on the bridge for 24 hours. "This is a proud moment. The bridge passed all phases of load testing successfully and is now ready to be opened to the public. We used loaded trucks to simulate real-life pressure scenarios, and the results were highly satisfactory. The structural performance was stable throughout," said Binod Kacchap, executive engineer of the RCD. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trade Bitcoin & Ethereum – No Wallet Needed! 1 2 Patna: J P Ganga Path, also known as Patna's Marine drive, will now be connected to the Mahatma Gandhi Setu and the new four-lane bridge being constructed alongside it, CM Nitish Kumar said here on Thursday. While inspecting the ongoing construction of the down ramp towards the Ganges from the J P Ganga Path at Gaighat here, Nitish asked the road construction department (RCD) officials to take necessary steps to connect J P Ganga Path with the Mahatma Gandhi Setu and the new four-lane bridge being constructed alongside it. The down ramp is being constructed towards the river at Gaighat to ensure smooth vehicle movement and road safety on J P Ganga Path. "Currently, there is a U-turn arrangement for vehicles at Gaighat under the JP Ganga Path Project, but with the construction of this down ramp, the U-turn arrangement will be eliminated," a communique issued from the chief minister office (CMO) said. RCD set to repair damaged city roads
Patna: Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (BUIDCO) has handed over three major roads in Patna to the road construction department (RCD) for urgent repair works. The roads, spanning 1,199 metres, are located in the Digha and Kankarbagh zones where sewerage network works have recently been completed. BUIDCO managing director Animesh Kumar Parashar has asked agencies to ensure roads are restored immediately following completion of infrastructure work to avoid inconvenience to the public during the upcoming monsoon season. "The three roads assigned to the RCD for repair include Sahdeo Mahto Marg in Digha Zone-1, Ghurdaur Road in Digha Zone-2 and the stretch from Jaleshwar Temple to Jogipur Colony in Kankarbagh Zone," said an RCD official. Earlier, a list of 39 additional roads was handed over to the department for restoration. These include the stretch from Daroga Rai Path to Veer Chand Patel Path in Digha Zone 1, Digha-Ashiana Road to Shastri Nagar in Digha Zone 2 and from Hanuman Nagar to Malahi Pakri in Kankarbagh zone. Ranjeet Rai, a resident of Ghurdaur Road, said locals face regular difficulties crossing the Ashiana-Digha Road. "A lot of dust can be seen in the air due to ongoing construction work under the Namami Gange Project. "The situation gets worse when it rains, as the road becomes slippery due to the damaged surface," he added. While the RCD is responsible for restoring its own roads, the repair of roads under the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) is carried out by BUIDCO's appointed agency. Road construction minister Nitin Nabin had recently directed that all damaged roads be repaired by May 30 without fail. He has also instructed agencies to ensure all open manholes at construction sites are securely covered and all potholes are filled without delay.

Mango flyover to get 2 lanes, service road
Jamshedpur : The upcoming Mango flyover in the city will now have a two-lane road and service roads on its flanks to facilitate the movement of local motorists. As per the previous design, a single lane was proposed from Mango roundabout to Payal Cinema. Now, there will be a two-lane road on the stretch, officials said on Saturday. The construction work for the 2.8 km long flyover project began in September last year. A total of Rs 461 crore is to be spent for the project. Officials claimed that the project will be ready early 2026. The proposed changes to the design came to light after senior officials of the state road construction department and the construction company inspected the project on Saturday along with Jamshedpur (West) MLA Saryu Roy. "Changes were made to the design based on the demands of locals, who said a single lane will not be useful," he said. The proposed single lane would have convenience motorists coming in from Sakchi. However, the new design will make way for the movement of vehicles coming approaching from Payal Cinema end. A roundabout will also be built near the theatre alongside a parking lot under the flyover. "Forest land near Payal Cinema will have to be acquired for the implementation of the revised design," Deepak Sahay, executive engineer of the RCD, said.
