Ranchi: The 142-meter-long, cable-stayed-bridge in the city, has cleared a weeklong load testing exercise and is ready for vehicular movement, officials of the state road construction department said on Friday.
With the bridge now declared fit for use, the decks have been cleared for the inauguration of the Siromtoli Flyover project in the coming weeks.
The RCD put the bridge to test, which crosses the busy railway tracks a few hundred metres away from the Ranchi railway station, between Tuesday and Friday. Starting off with 100 tonnes, the load was gradually increased to 300 tonnes to assess its structural integrity, officials said.
In the last leg of tests, trucks carrying 25 tonnes of crushed stone each were placed on the bridge for 24 hours.
"This is a proud moment. The bridge passed all phases of load testing successfully and is now ready to be opened to the public.
We used loaded trucks to simulate real-life pressure scenarios, and the results were highly satisfactory. The structural performance was stable throughout," said Binod Kacchap, executive engineer of the RCD.

Once functional, the flyover, which is over 2 km long, will ease the traffic load from Ranchi's arterial roads. Construction of the project began in 2019 and provide access to commuters to the Kantatoli flyover.
With the bridge now tested safe, department officials are expected to work out the dates for the project's inauguration. Sunil Kumar, secretary of the RCD, said, "The date for the inauguration have not been finalised yet." However, sources in the department said the project is expected to be formally inaugurated next month.

Minister escapes unhurt after car collides with truck
1 2 3 Cuttack: Food supplies and consumer welfare minister Krushna Patra narrowly escaped injury when his car collided head-on with a cement mixer truck at Sandhapur Square in Cuttack district on Friday. The accident occurred around 9 am when the minister was en route to Bhubaneswar from Athagarh. The collision took place at a narrow turn on the busy Sandhapur stretch, causing significant damage to the front portion of the minister's vehicle. "Both vehicles were travelling cautiously, but the limited width of the road left little room for manoeuvering," said Niranjan Behera, an eyewitness. Cuttack DCP Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo said a case has been registered at Baranga police station. "We have seized the truck belonging to a local concrete mixture company and detained the driver for questioning. Appropriate legal action will be taken after verification of all evidence," he said. The incident sparked concerns about road safety in the area. "The stretch has become accident-prone due to increasing traffic and lack of road expansion. Many lives have been lost. The govt must act and broaden the road without delay," said Lokanath Behera, a resident. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Memperdagangkan CFD Emas dengan salah satu spread terendah? Trump, Musk, and the Big Beautiful Breakup
Donald Trump, left, and Elon Musk depart the White House to board Marine One en route to New Jersey, March 21, 2025, in Washington. (AP) TOI correspondent from Washington: The epic war between the world's richest man and the world's most powerful man kept America -- and the world -- enthralled on Friday as attempts to bring about a truce between Elon Musk and Donald Trump failed. There was a brief prospect of reconciliation on Thursday night as mutual friends tried to patch things up after Musk ratcheted up his attacks on the President, linking Trump to the pedophile Epstein. 'Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!' he posted on X. Trump ignored the charge but he responded to the broader issue of their falling out, saying he had asked Musk to leave the White House because he was 'wearing thin,' and he (Musk) went "crazy" because the administration took away his EV Mandate that forced everyone to buy Electric Cars that "nobody else wanted." Things went further south when the President posted, "The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon's Governmental Subsidies and Contracts. I was always surprised that Biden didn't do it!' That triggered Musk to warn that he would decommission SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft, critical for NASA's International Space Station operations, a threat he later retracted. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trending in in 2025: Local network access control [Click Here] Esseps Learn More Undo Amid the heated, real-time exchanges on social media, billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman got in a word edgewise, asking the warring duo to reunite "for the benefit of our great country." Musk responded, "You're not wrong," and reportedly sought a Trump phone call, which the President rejected on Friday, characterizing Musk as the "man who has lost his mind." Officials though warned the President could change his mind. Chances of a truce appeared to have been derailed by Musk himself after he mused about the President's political mortality in the hours before, telling social media gadabout Laura Loomer that "Trump has 3.5 years left as President, but I will be around for 40+ years…" This came after he tried to talk up JD Vance for the Oval Office following a Trump impeachment proposed by some critics. But the US vice-president smacked down the idea, saying, "President Trump has done more than any person in my lifetime to earn the trust of the movement he leads. I'm proud to stand beside him." Several GOP lawmakers rallied around Trump saying Musk had "gone too far" in the feud. Musk also posted a poll on X asking, "Is it time to create a new political party in America that actually represents the 80% in the middle?" There were more than 5 million responses, with more than 80 percent saying "yes." A variety of other characters waded into the drama, offering millions of political junkies a constant high. While Ackman and other billionaires and tech bros sought to keep a lid on the explosion, former Trump advisor Steve Bannon and other MAGA hardliners, who see Musk as an interloper, poured gasoline on the fumes, demanding Trump seize's Musk's SpaceX invoking national security provisions and deport Musk, although the South Africa born Tesla boss is now a US citizen. A current Trump advisor Peter Navarro, among many in the President's inner circle happy with the departure of the man some called a "co-President," said Musk was just 'a special government employee with an expiration date.' Russia too stepped into the American swamp, offering Musk political asylum if his feud with Trump went further south. Some of the feuding bordered on the petulant, with several media outlets reporting that Trump now plans to sell the red Tesla S that he bought with great fanfare after celebrating Musk and his cars on the White House lawns just a few weeks ago. The banner headline in the NewYork Post said it all: I HATE MY X.

Musk–Trump rift: Direct talks unlikely; White House aides may engage- report
Donald Trump-Elon Musk feud continues Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk may soon engage with White House aides as tensions with US President Donald Trump continue, though a direct conversation between the two men appears unlikely for now. According to Fox News senior White House correspondent Peter Doocy, a senior White House official confirmed that no call between Trump and Musk is currently scheduled. 'Musk wants a call. POTUS hasn't made a decision,' a source familiar with the situation told Fox News, indicating that Trump is not expected to speak with Musk, at least on Friday. While a direct dialogue is off the table for now, White House staffers signaled to Doocy that administration personnel could still attempt to communicate with Musk. This comes amid a month-long buildup of frustration on Trump's end, reportedly fueled by Musk's growing public criticism of the President's signature legislative proposal. Also read: Donald Trump 'not interested' in talking to Musk; says billionaire 'has lost his mind' The rift intensified this week after Musk publicly condemned Trump's much-touted spending proposal- dubbed the "One Big Beautiful Bill"- calling it a 'disgusting abomination' and slamming it as 'pork-filled Congressional waste.' He followed it with a cryptic message: "Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out." The White House responded with restraint. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt described Musk's comments as 'an unfortunate episode' driven by his disappointment that the bill lacks provisions he supported. 'The President is focused on passing this historic piece of legislation and making our country great again,' she said. Trump, for his part, fired back on Truth Social, claiming he cut ties with Musk and ended government support for electric vehicles, a move he said Musk knew was coming. 'Elon was 'wearing thin,' I asked him to leave,' Trump wrote. 'I took away his EV Mandate… and he just went CRAZY!' Trump said. He also hinted at further action against Musk's business interests, suggesting the government could save 'billions and billions of dollars' by terminating Musk's subsidies and contracts. Meanwhile, a red Tesla vehicle reportedly purchased by Trump earlier this year during a Tesla demonstration on the White House South Lawn is now set to be removed or sold. As of Friday, the Florida-registered car remained parked near the White House on West Executive Drive.
