Never a dull moment when it comes to supporting Wrexham AFC!
And Wrexham supporters have been right in the middle of it. After 90 minutes of their first game back in the Championship, a memorable 1-0 win at Southampton looked on the cards. Then the Saints marched on in stoppage time to win 2-1. On Tuesday, Hull City were heading to the second round of the League Cup, leading 3-1 with 90 minutes up. Teased by away fans that they were 'being tamed by The Tigers' and 'you're going down with the Wednesday' Wrexham levelled before winning the shoot-out. All of a sudden in the Hull end it had all gone quiet over there as football does what it always does and produces the unbelievable. So what's going to unfold at The Racecourse tomorrow? The last time the two teams met in 1942 it ended 5-5 at The Racecourse and if you fancy that happening again, you'll get odds of 200/1! Can Wrexham spark cup run with triumph over Hull City?
Predictions weren't my forte last season, but I nailed the opening one of Wrexham's Championship campaign. I got the 2-1 scoreline at Southampton spot on - and I'd also explained to somebody a couple of hours prior to kick-off exactly how things would pan out! My remaining predictions this season aren't going to hit those heights - and tonight's match-up with Hull City is going to be a tricky one to look at. Lewis O'Brien and Conor Coady are going to be the Reds' heartbeats in the league this season, but I don't expect either of them to feature tonight. Phil Parkinson will tinker with his starting line-up - and there are plenty of players to choose from. Expecting Arthur Okonkwo to come in for his first appearance between the sticks this season and, if selected, it will be interesting to see how Sam Smith and Ryan Hardie get on up front. The League Cup's not a competition the Reds have mastered since returning to the EFL. I'm still anticipating a home win and it would be nice to have a decent cup run. Wrexham AFC fans will head to Sincil Bank in full force!
Lincoln City's Sincil Bank isn't the ideal setting for Wrexham to sign off a historic hat-trick of promotions but that won't stop the club's amazing supporters heading there in full force. They'll do well to trump last week's celebrations but how good was it for Wrexham to celebrate promotion at The Racecourse for a third season running? It's crazy to think that win over Boreham Wood to secure Wrexham's escape from non-league football was just TWO years ago. Now we're looking ahead to Championship football again for the first time in 43 years and the demand to watch Wrexham home and away will be even greater. But tomorrow is all about taking in a deep breath at Sincil Bank, remembering the last game in the Football League there in 2008 and raising a glass to just how far we've come in Rob and Ryan's Reds' revolution.
