VSTECS net profit jumps 32% in 2Q on broad-based growth

VSTECS Bhd posted a 32% year-on-year increase in net profit to RM20.2 million for the second quarter ended June 30, 2025 (2QFY2025), from RM15.2 million a year earlier, driven by strong performance across all business segments. Revenue rose 31% to RM818.9 million, with double-digit growth recorded in ICT Distribution, Enterprise Systems, and ICT Services. The ICT Distribution segment grew 30% on robust device replacement cycles and demand for AI-enabled devices, while Enterprise Systems rose 32% on higher public sector project momentum. ICT Services revenue climbed 30%, supported by sustained demand for cloud solutions. For the first half of FY2025, revenue increased 22% to RM1.51 billion, while net profit grew 28% to RM37.9 million. VSTECS ended the period with a net cash position of RM84.4 million. Its CEO JH Soong said the group is well-positioned to capture further growth in the second half, supported by upcoming product launches, government projects, and new AI offerings. 'From our current visibility, we see exceptional momentum for the rest of the year,' he added. — TMR

Eco-Shop profits from rising demand for affordable products

RHB Research pointed out that Eco-Shop is focused on opening at least 70 new outlets per year. PETALING JAYA: Eco-Shop Marketing Bhd 's slower same store sales growth is outweighed by its strong gross profit margin expansion, analysts say. In Eco-Shop's recently announced results for its financial year ended May 31, 2025 (FY25), gross profit margin grew by 1.8 percentage points to 28.2%. Same store sales growth, however, declined marginally by 0.4%. RHB Research said Eco-Shop's FY25 results have surpassed expectations on strong profit margin expansion. 'We foresee the affordable goods sector continuing to grow rapidly by capitalising on the trend of consumers trading down, thanks to the wide value-for-money product range. 'With this, Eco-Shop offers earnings visibility, and, at the same time, robust earnings growth fostered by outlet expansion plans to extend its dominant market share. 'Such a scarce investment case should justify a premium valuation,' the research house said. RHB Research has reiterated its 'buy' rating on the Eco-Shop stock with a target price of RM1.51 per share. The target price implies a price-earnings multiple of 31 times on its FY26 earnings, higher than the sector average. In FY25, Eco-Shop's revenue jumped by 16% to RM2.8bil, underpinned by 74 net new store additions. A price increase in April expanded FY25's gross profit margin, more than offsetting the rise in operating expenditure stemming from higher minimum wages. Correspondingly, FY25's core net profit surged 17% to RM214mil. Quarter-on-quarter, revenue for the fourth quarter of FY25 (4Q25) dipped 6% to RM689mil after volume declined in reaction to the price increase. Consequently, 4Q25 core net profit fell 9% to RM57mil as gross profit margin expansion after one-and-a-half-months of higher prices was insufficient to offset the topline weakness and higher operating expenditure. In addition, RM5mil in expenses were incurred in 4Q25 to replace price tags, banners and billboards. Looking ahead, RHB Research pointed out that Eco-Shop is focused on opening at least 70 new outlets per year in order to penetrate underserved markets and consolidate its market leadership in the burgeoning sector. Meanwhile, it recently launched targeted marketing campaigns to drive footfall and sales by leveraging on its elevated gross profit margin.

MSB Global posts RM1.51mil net profit, RM13.83mil revenue in Q1

KUALA LUMPUR: MSB Global Group Bhd's reported a net profit of RM1.51 million in the first quarter (Q1) ended March 31, 2025, marking a start in its first reporting period as a listed company. For the quarter under review, the company recorded RM13.83 million revenue and pre-tax profit of RM1.95 million. The company's earnings per share stood at 32 sen, based on the pre-listing share base of 477.00 million shares. In a statement, MSB Global said its revenue continued to be supported by its core business activities in the marketing, trading, and distribution of aftermarket automotive parts and components, which contributed RM9.57 million or 69.20 per cent of the total revenue. Meanwhile, it said the sale of automotive lubricants and fluids accounted for RM4.21 million or 30.45 per cent of total revenue. Export sales, primarily to Singapore, amounted to RM900,000, with the remaining contribution generated from domestic operations, it said. Managing director Datuk Ow Kee Foo said this quarter marks its first financial milestone as a listed entity, and the company is pleased to have maintained profitability while navigating a softer sales cycle. "Our consistent performance reaffirms the strength of our business model, built on trusted brand partnerships, operational discipline, and the growing demand for reliable aftermarket solutions," said Ow. MSB Global said as Malaysia's automotive aftermarket continues to expand, driven by a growing vehicle population and a rising demand for quality maintenance products, the company is confident in its ability to capture a larger share of the market. Backed by its exclusive distribution of the GSP brand and a growing portfolio of proprietary brands, the company remains committed to delivering long-term value for shareholders while scaling its presence across the nation and region, it added.
