They claimed supporters were "middle aged men" who "take up more room", and expressed concern for performers at the Edinburgh Fringe taking place at the same time as their August shows.
Gallagher, 52, responded this week by branding them "f****** slags" and claimed the group would bring billions to the economy.
But the council has refused to bow to angry fan reaction or public battlecries.
City of Edinburgh Council Leader Jane Meagher, said: 'We were delighted to welcome the band and their fans to the city and will happily do so again.
'Our staff – many of whom are Oasis fans themselves – have worked day and night to help make the concerts the success that they were, and, judging by the feedback I've received, has been greatly appreciated by concert-goers and residents.
'It's clear that the many thousands of people who flocked to Murrayfield to catch Oasis's spectacular and highly anticipated reunion shows had a great time – and I want to congratulate the band on their triumphant return to the city.
'I'd like to thank all those who attended the shows for their consideration and respect for one another, and for all those living in the area, helping to make this the fun and enjoyable experience that it was.
'Thanks also to all our partners, and council officers – many of whom are Oasis fans themselves – who have been working so hard in the lead-up to and during the events to help it run as smoothly
as possible.
"We've been in months of planning to make sure the concerts were delivered safely, communicating regularly with local residents to manage the impact – and I've been pleased to hear the feedback on how smoothly things have gone.
'We're proud to host the biggest and best events here in Edinburgh, including the world-famous summer festivals, which are currently in full swing.
"It's our job to celebrate this while continuing to maintain the right balance between the needs of our residents and visitors.'
It's estimated that the band could bring in £150m to the economy.
Speaking on stage, Gallagher said: '£3billion we've brought into this city over the past five days. And that's between you and us. Three billion f****** quid.

'You won't see f*** all, because they'll rob it and spread it among their posh ugly mates.'
But Ms Meagher explained: "Sadly, not much of that, if not any, comes directly into the pocket of the council, but we're really pleased that the city is thriving in the way that these sorts of events contribute to.
"It's been a fantastically successful event and we're very pleased about the effect it's had on the city's economy, which of course is fantastic."
