GSFL 2025: Perfect 10 coaches votes for Michael McGlade in Royals narrow win, Darcy Wallinger leads overall

Royals midfielder Michael McGlade picked up a perfect 10 in his first polling of the season in the Great Southern Football League coaches votes on Saturday. McGlade was a unanimous choice as best-on-ground by the two coaches, in the Lions tense four-point win over Denmark-Walpole at McLean Park . The Lions, who have won two games in a row, picked up most of the votes from the game with Declan McNamara and Seb Stanton also polling well. It was the first votes for McGlade in the 2025 GSFL Coaches Player of the Year Award. McNamara continued his strong season with seven votes and Stanton received four while Nelson Tulip and Ryan Hick from the Magpies got three each. Mt Barker gun Darcy Wallinger remains in the outright leader of the award, having picked up more votes in round five of the season. Wallinger (26 votes) holds a three-vote advantage over his teammate Daniel Patching, while Railways' Ryley Valli and Bulls' Darcy Clarke are just one vote further back. Patching and Clarke were highly influential in the Bulls' 38-point win over North Albany at Collingwood Park . The pair picked up nine votes each while Kangas midfielder Matt Orzel added five votes to his tally. Wallinger and Bulls forward Brandon Ugle collected three votes. Opinions were split in the top-of-the-table clash as the Tigers won by 60 points over Albany at Retravision Stadium . Eight players received votes from the coaches with only Lachie Cale and Logan Stubber featuring for both coaches. Young Tiger Cale picked up seven votes while Sharks' Bailey Taylor, Stubber and Tigers ruck Shane Braimbridge all got five. Just six votes separate the top six players on the leaderboard with McNamara (21) and Sharks' Bryce Blaszkow (20) well within striking distance. Cale joins teammate Jayden Scott on 19 and closely followed by Isaac Baum (18) and Orzel (17). Each league coach votes 5-4-3-2-1 for players on both sides at the end of every game. 2025 Coaches' Player of the Year Award Voting Round 5 Albany v Railways 7 Lachie Cale (RAIL) 5 Bailey Taylor (ALB) 5 Logan Stubber (RAIL) 5 Shane Braimbridge (RAIL) 3 Declan Willey (RAIL) 2 Bryce Blaszkow (ALB) 2 Ryley Valli (RAIL) 1 Bodhi Stubber (RAIL) Denmark-Walpole v Royals 10 Michael McGlade (ROY) 7 Declan McNamara (ROY) 4 Seb Stanton (ROY) 3 Nelson Tulip (DW) 3 Ryan Hick (DW) 2 Joel Flick (ROY) 1 James Charlesworth (DW) North Albany v Mt Barker 9 Daniel Patching (MB) 9 Darcy Clarke (MB) 5 Matt Orzel (NA) 3 Brandon Ugle (MB) 3 Darcy Wallinger (MB) 1 Regan Christensen (NA) Leaderboard 26: Darcy Wallinger (MB) 23: Daniel Patching (MB) 22: Ryley Valli (RAIL) Darcy Clarke (MB) 21: Declan McNamara (ROY) 20: Bryce Blaszkow (ALB) 19: Jayden Scott (RAIL) Lachie Cale (RAIL) 18: Isaac Baum (ALB) 17: Matt Orzel (NA) 15: Taj Williams (ALB) 13: Seb Ballard (MB) Hayden Parker (RAIL) 12: Tyler Stone (DW) Kobi Keen (NA) 11: Kane Pinney (ALB) 10: Sam Holmes (ALB) Michael McGlade (ROY)

Caitlin Clark Turns Heads With Surprising Lead Over A'ja Wilson Before WNBA Season

While betting odds are usually the most trustworthy indicator of reality--money talks, after all--they can sometimes be skewed based on popularity and perception. Betting on, say, the Yankees or the Lakers or Notre Dame, for example, is usually a bad idea, because the lines tend to move based on the fact that those teams have such strong nationwide fan bases. We could be seeing the same thing in the WNBA, where Caitlin Clark stormed into the league as the No. 1 pick last year and backed up the hype by winning the league's Rookie of the Year award, averaging 19.8 points, 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds, and setting a rookie record for 3-pointers made. Advertisement Given that her team, the Indiana Fever, went 20-20 last year but has made significant talent upgrades in the offseason, it stands to reason that Clark could well graduate from the ROY award to a bigger award: MVP. If she improves her numbers and the Fever become one of the top teams in the league, she will be a top candidate. It is probably too soon for that, not with A'ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces coming off a dominant season in which she set a record with 26.9 points per game, adding 11.9 rebounds and 2.6 blocked shots. Wilson swept all 67 first-place votes for the MVP award in 2024. Runner-up Napheesa Collier of the Lynx and center Breanna Stewart of the Liberty (who was third) will be in the mix, too. Still, Clark's popularity is undeniable. Clark was fourth in MVP balloting last year, but according to BetMGM, she is now the favorite to be the 2025 MVP. That would be a stunning rise, even for a player of Clark's ability, though it should be note that at plus-195, she is only a slight favorite over Wilson (plus-200) and Collier (plus-250). Advertisement Clark and the Fever will tip off their season on Saturday afternoon in Indianapolis against the Chicago Sky.

List of last 5 players selected with the No. 3 pick of the NBA draft

List of last 5 players selected with the No. 3 pick of the NBA draft The Philadelphia 76ers were rewarded with the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NBA draft after a disastrous 24-58 season. The Sixers were expected to contend for a title with all the moves they made, but injuries ruined any type of championship plans they had for the season. With Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey playing only 18 games together--15 of which they finished--the Sixers were unable to have any type of success. It was tough sledding all season and President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey and Co. must now figure out the next move to put the right pieces around their star trio. With the No. 3 pick, the Sixers have the chance to land an impact player and continue to grow with young talent. To get a better idea of what kind of player Philadelphia can get with the selection, here is a list of the last five players taken with the No. 3 overall pick in the NBA draft: 2024: Reed Sheppard Career stats (1 season): 4.4 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 1.4 apg, 35.1% FG, 33.8% 3FG 2023: Scoot Henderson Career stats (2 seasons): 13.3 ppg, 5.2 apg, 3.1 rpg, 0.9 spg, 40.1% FG, 34% 3FG 2022: Jabari Smith Jr. Career stats (3 seasons): 13.0 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 1.3 apg, 43.2% FG, 34% 3FG 2021: Evan Mobley Career stats (4 seasons): 16.4 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 2.9 apg, 1.6 bpg, 54.8% FG, 37% 3FG, 1X All-Star, 1X DPOY winner 2020: LaMelo Ball Career stats (5 seasons): 21.0 ppg, 7.4 apg, 6.0 rpg, 1.5 spg, 42.1% FG, 36.5% 3FG, 1X All-Star, 2021 ROY winner

VeeFriends, Bowman Baseball Highlight Big Week in Card Releases

A sought–after baseball card once co–owned by hockey great Wayne Gretzky has been purchased by a Southern California collector for a record–setting $2.35 million. The famous 1909 Honus Wagner tobacco card, considered the "Holy Grail" of baseball cards, was shown at Dodger Stadium by part owners of the card from SCP Auctions on 02/27/2007. Here David Kohler of SCP Auctions holds card inside it's plastic container. (Photo by Bob Chamberlin/Los Angeles Times via Getty Images) Hey Collectors, On Monday night our friends at Wheelhouse hosted an event here in LA, and the crew from Goldin came packing heat! Among the items they had on display? A signed check from Abe Lincoln, a pair of game-used Reebok Pumps worn by Shaq, a copy of Superman #1 and a T206 Honus Wagner . Museum pieces, all of them. Advertisement I don't have T206-level money, and security was watching me like a hawk, so I guess I'm going to have to keep ripping packs, hoping to hit something big the old fashioned way. Good thing there were a few big card releases just yesterday… Yesterday Topps Chrome VeeFriends, created by Gary Vaynerchuk, hit shelves (and sold out within minutes). The set is headlined by the ultra-rare ERUPT! cards. With odds as steep as 1 in 3,000 hobby packs—and 1 in 9,000 for blasters—these chase cards are among the rarest in the set, featuring high-end parallels like Black Lava (/10) and Superfractor 1/1s. The launch marks a major step in VeeFriends' evolution from digital NFT to tangible collectible, blending scarcity, storytelling, and artistic impact, and with Hobby Boxes selling for 2x retail, early interest is as strong as Alpha Alligator . Also releasing yesterday? 2025 Bowman Baseball, and this year Topps included a new element, with the Red Rookie program. These special cards, marked with a red RC logo, unlock prizes if the featured player wins a major award—like Rookie of the Year—or eventually reaches the Hall of Fame. It's a long game, but there's real short-term upside. Using data compiled by Max Arterburn from Prospects Live , Mike Metzler narrowed the 30-player checklist to just four with real ROY potential in 2025: Jackson Jobe, Jacob Wilson, Roki Sasaki, and Dylan Crews. Pull a Red RC of the player who wins this year's ROY, and you'll be in line for $100 from Topps. A $1,000 prize can be yours if the player ends up in the Hall, but you'll have to wait a while to cash in. Caitlin Clark's cultural and collectible dominance continues into 2025, with the return of her Crunch Time cereal to all Hy-Vee locations across the Midwest. Originally launched in Iowa in 2024 and flipped for five times retail on eBay, the limited-edition cereal still commands $20–$30 per box on the secondary market. With all of Clark's proceeds going to her foundation, the product exemplifies the blend of star power, scarcity, and social impact driving her market appeal. However, for all of the posts and stories we read about this cereal, not ONE mentioned how Crunch Time tastes… Following a record-breaking 2024 season (led, in part, by Crunch Time Cereal's Caitlin Clark), the WNBA's 2025 rookie class enters a booming collectibles market fueled by rising viewership, historic attendance, and increased demand for women's sports cards. Headlined by No. 1 pick Paige Bueckers—whose Bowman 1st PSA 10s are already surging—this class includes international standout Dominique Malonga, high-scoring forward Kiki Iriafen, versatile guard Sonia Citron, and media-savvy Hailey Van Lith. With the WNBA preseason now underway, we'll start seeing which of these rookies will dominate on the court and in the card market. For the 2025 Miami Grand Prix, Formula One swapped its usual driver parade truck for full-size, drivable F1 cars made entirely out of Lego bricks — a first-of-its-kind spectacle born from F1's growing partnership with Lego. Each of the 10 life-size cars required around 400,000 bricks and was constructed over three weeks at Lego's 'big builds' factory in the Czech Republic, complete with electric powertrains, hydraulic brakes, and custom steering systems. Designed to carry two drivers, the cars, of course, also featured fully accurate team liveries and sponsor details. Can't forget that Visa logo! Your collection deserves a community. The only 4 Bowman 2025 red rookies you need to chase

TOKYO, JAPAN - MARCH 14: Blake Snell #7 and Tyler Glasnow #31 of the Los Angeles Dodgers open packs of Topps baseball cards during the Tokyo Series Player Ambassadors Appearance at MLB FanFest at Tokyo SKYTREE on Friday, March 14, 2025 in Tokyo, Japan. (Photo by Yuki Taguchi/MLB Photos via Getty Images) How do you innovate a hobby that's over 100 years old? It's not easy. You have to think outside the box and find new ways to deliver value. Credit where it's due—Fanatics has put in real effort here and, for the most part, they've nailed it. From the MLB Debut Patch to the Social Media Followback redemption, they've introduced new twists that actually feel fresh. The latest: the Bowman Red Rookie. Advertisement Here's how it works. A select number of rookie cards in Bowman products will carry a red RC logo. Starting in November, those cards become eligible for some big prizes. The catch? The player on the card has to win Rookie of the Year, Cy Young, MVP, or eventually make the Hall of Fame. Yes, holding onto one until a player reaches Cooperstown should 'make me the CEO of Fanatics,' as one X user put it . But Rookie of the Year? That's in play. Roki Sasaki is featured in the Bowman Red Rookie Redemption program (Topps) So, which Red Rookie cards from 2025 Bowman should you actually go after when it drops next week? Thankfully, Prospects Live contributor Max Arterburn did the math . Based on his breakdown, here are the four players with the best shot at turning that Red Rookie into FanCash. Advertisement The full Red Rookie checklist has 30 players, so let's start trimming. First, eight are already ineligible to win 2025 ROY because they surpassed rookie status last year (more than 130 ABs, 50 IP, or 45 days of service time). That cuts: Connor Norby, Spencer Schwellenbach, Drew Thorpe, Jhonkensy Noel, David Festa, Ben Rice, James Wood, and Brooks Lee. Now we're at 22. Three more can be removed due to injury: Rhett Lowder, Kumar Rocker, and River Ryan. While Lowder and Rocker could return this year, it would take Paul Skenes-level dominance to make a dent. Ryan's ROY eligibility might end up carrying into next season, but even then, he's still a long shot. Twelve others can be crossed off for having little to no major league experience so far: Adrian Del Castillo, Shay Whitcomb, Thomas Saggese, Hyesong Kim, Adael Amador, Hurston Waldrep, Tyler Locklear, Coby Mayo, Caden Dana, Kevin Alcantara, Orelvis Martinez, and Nick Yorke. Advertisement That leaves 7. Luisangel Acuña hasn't earned a permanent roster spot and lacks power. Jace Jung, while potential is there, hasn't done much with the time he's had. Tomoyuki Sugano has struggled with his K%. Which means your real Red Rookie options are down to four: Jackson Jobe, Jacob Wilson, Roki Sasaki, and Dylan Crews. These are the only guys, in our opinion, with a legitimate shot at 2025 ROY. If you want a chance at that $100 Fanatics prize, these are your best bets. And sure, some of these players could end up Hall of Famers down the road. But if you're banking on that for your Red Rookie payout... welp, good luck. Your collection deserves a community.
