Apparently, their fellow passengers did not notice anything suspicious at first.
Suddenly, RPF-CIB personnel began rushing through the AC coach, alarming many passengers. A young man looked visibly tense as the officers stopped in front of his seat.
As soon as the RPF began searching him, fourteen packets of ganja were discovered in his trolley.
Furthermore, two other youths travelling on the Howrah-Rajdhani that day were also caught by the RPF. Fourteen packets of ganja, each weighing 1 kg, were recovered from the trolleys of the three youths. The market value of the ganja is estimated to be Rs 6,30,000.
During interrogation, all three youths confessed that a person named Sanjay from Angul, Odisha, had given them the trolley bags. They were supposed to travel to Prayagraj on the Howrah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express and deliver the ganja-filled trolley bags to a person named Ramkumar in Prayagraj. In return, they were to receive money. Mobile phones, cash worth Rs 2,100, and a backpack were seized from the three individuals. An FIR has been lodged at the Railway Police Station.
The three arrested ganja smugglers are aged between 18 and 24 years: Saurabh Kumar (18) from Nalanda, Akhilesh Mohan (24) from Siwan, and Ranjit Kumar (21), currently residing in Panipat, Haryana.
