Photo: AFP/ File Listen to article The locations of the Indian Air Force (IAF) jets being shot down in the recent skirmish have been revealed by security forces, delivering a significant blow to the Indian Air Force. During an operation on the night of May 6–7, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) dealt a major blow to the IAF, successfully intercepting and shooting down multiple fighter jets across several locations, resulting in pilots being reported injured or missing. The ejection seat of the downed aircraft was recovered from the Gadool Kokernag area, sources added. Sources further revealed that another IAF jet went down in the Pampore or Pulwama region of IIOJK, with both pilots sustaining serious injuries. They were transferred to a hospital in Srinagar for medical treatment. A third fighter jet crashed in the Pantiyal/Ramsu area of Ramban district. The pilot of that aircraft, Flying Officer Iqbal Singh, was injured and shifted to the Army Hospital in Udhampur. Yet another aircraft crashed in the agricultural fields of Bharda Kalan in Akhnoor Tehsil of IIOJK. Both pilots ejected and were injured; they were moved to the Akhnoor Military Hospital for treatment. Security sources also confirmed that another IAF aircraft crashed in Bathinda city, located in India's Punjab province. In a separate incident, an Indian Heron Remote Piloted Vehicle (RPV) was shot down 13 nautical miles east of Jammu city in IIOJK. 'The way Indian jets were downed like toys raises serious questions about their military strategy,' noted defence experts. Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which killed 26 people. India blamed Pakistan-based elements for the assault but provided no evidence. Islamabad strongly denied the allegations. On April 23, India closed the Wagah border crossing, revoked Pakistani visas, and announced the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty. Pakistan condemned the move as an 'act of war' and responded by sealing the Wagah border from its side. The confrontation then erupted on May 6–7 as India launched its attack against Pakistan, which spiraled into the gravest military clash between the neighbors in decades. Read more: 40 civilians, 11 troops martyred in Indian aggression: ISPR Pakistan condemned the attack and in retaliaton, the Pakistan Air Force achieved a historic BVR (Beyond Visual Range) combat victory, downing five Indian fighter jets—three Rafales, one SU-30, and one MiG-29—without incurring any losses. Officials declared the outcome a "100–0" score in Pakistan's favour. Despite repeated warnings from the Pakistani government, India, fueled by its media's war-driven rhetoric, continued provocative actions, including frequent drone incursions, which ultimately prompted Pakistan to retaliate. On the night of 9–10 May, Pakistan initiated retaliatory action in response to Indian aggression in the early hours of Saturday, officially naming the operation 'Bunyaan-un-Marsoos'. In what were described as decisive actions against Indian aggression, Pakistan reportedly targeted 26 military sites inside India and destroyed several Indian brigade and battalion headquarters along the Line of Control (LoC). Following diplomatic intervention led by Washington, both sides agreed to halt military activity across land, air, and sea. However, hours after the truce, fresh skirmishes were reported along both sides of the LoC. Bharti admitted the possibility of losses but framed them as an inherent risk in active combat. When asked about the downing of a Rafale fighter jet during the operation at a press briefing by the Directors General of Military Operations on Sunday, the Air Marshal responded by saying, 'This is combat, and losses are part of it. But the real question is whether we achieved our objectives—and the answer is a thumping yes. We dismantled the terrorist infrastructure we set out to neutralise, and the results are evident for the world to see.' Pakistan's Inter-Services Public Relations later on Tuesday May 13, confirmed that at least 51 people, including 40 civilians and 11 military personnel, were martyred during India's cross-border attacks on Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistani territory.

Invesco S&P 500 Pure Value ETF (RPV): Among the Top Deep Value Stocks ETFs

We recently published a list of Deep Value Stocks ETFs: Top 10 Picks. In this article, we are going to take a look at where Invesco S&P 500 Pure Value ETF (NYSE:RPV) stands against other deep value ETFs to invest in. This year, growth stocks are largely overvalued, trading at massive premiums compared to the riotous tech bubble of 2021. This is why Morningstar suggests that investors should underweight growth stocks in their portfolios and focus on value stocks instead. As of March 24, 2025, the Morningstar US Market Index saw the highest losses in artificial intelligence stocks, while undervalued stocks gained. Value stocks are trading at an impressive 13% discount to fair value. Thus, Morningstar advises investors to pick up small-cap stocks, which are trading at an 18% discount to fair value, compared to large and mid-cap equities, which trade at the same discount as the broader market. William C. Nygren, partner, portfolio manager, and chief investment officer at Harris Associates, believes that it is an attractive time to be a value investor in this day and age because of the large spread in valuations between a few tech giants that drive the broader market and everything else. It is a golden time for value investors because the market is so concentrated, which means that cheap stocks are spread all across the other industries, allowing a unique opportunity to put together an investment portfolio comprising low P/E stocks. According to Nygren, it's not just bank and oil stocks that look cheap right now. Consumer durables, healthcare, and media companies are also attractively valued. Since a value investor focuses on buying stocks that the market isn't favoring at the moment, they get a much lower price. A value investor has to brave the odds, step in when others waver, and patiently wait for the market to reprice so their portfolio can thrive. Similarly, veteran value investor Joel Greenblatt of Gotham Asset Management acknowledges that while value stocks have underperformed compared to their growth counterparts over the last two decades, investors who keenly observe and play the market can certainly prevail and outperform the broader market. Greenblatt's Gotham Asset Management has returned a positive spread for the last three years, and the value investor noted that for a couple of mega stocks to consistently outperform the broader market is rather 'abnormal', possibly hinting that the market will reset its course. With Anderson likely heading to D.C., Republican Party of Virginia could pick a new chair next month

Sen. Mark Peake, R-Lynchburg, has announced his intention to succeed Rich Anderson as the chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia. (Photo by Nathaniel Cline/Virginia Mercury) Republican Party of Virginia chairman Rich Anderson has been tapped by President Donald Trump to serve as the assistant secretary of the Air Force, and the party could select his successor next month. RPV executive director Ken Nunnenkamp said the central committee members of the party could vote as early as April 12, when their next meeting is scheduled. Meanwhile, Anderson awaits the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee's confirmation hearing and U.S. Senate vote to officialize his federal role. With Republicans dominating Congress, he likely will be confirmed. So far, only longtime state Sen. Mark Peake, R-Lynchburg, has announced his intention to chair the party. His announcement also comes with endorsements from Gov. Glenn Youngkin, Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears and Attorney General Jason Miyares. With Youngkin's term coming to a close, Earle-Sears is running for governor and Miyares is seeking another term as the state's top lawyer. If chosen, Peake said he would 'jump in immediately' to support statewide and House of Delegates candidates that are on the ballot this year. 'I've been in politics for a pretty good while now,' Peake said in a Wednesday call with The Mercury. 'I'm from a ruby red district, but I try to get along with all parts of the Republican Party.' Peake shared that his inspiration to seek the RPV chair rolestems from his experience in the legislature during the Democratic trifecta of 2020 and 2021, when Democrats had majorities in both the House and Senate as well as a governor from their party. Those majorities ushered in a series of law changes, many of which opposed Republican or conservative ethos. As RPV chair Peake hopes to bolster the statewide ticket and help Republicans regain control of the House of Delegates. The chamber is crucial to both parties this year. For Republicans, it's a counterweight to the Democrat-controlled Senate, which is not up for election until 2026. For Democrats, retaining the House is paramount to continue passage of constitutional amendments that would enshrine reproductive rights, voting rights and same-sex marriage rights into the state's constitution. While the efforts to restore voting rights to people who have completed prison sentences for felony convictions and to remove a same-sex marriage prohibition from the constitution advanced with bipartisan support, the reproductive rights measure passed because of the Democratic majority. Those bills have to pass again before appearing on statewide ballots for final approval or rejection. The party that holds the governor's office can signal which legislative efforts are most likely to be signed into law. While the Senate is not up for grabs this year, Peake stressed his passion to help Republicans gain grounds in other areas. The Democratic Party of Va. will pick a new leader this month. Here are the candidates' platforms. His bid to chair the party comes as the Democratic Party of Virginia will soon select a new chair following current chair Susan Swecker's announcement that she's stepping down. DPVA will choose among three contenders later this month that include Zack Pruckowski, a member of DPVA's steering committee, activist and DPVA organizer Josh Stanfield and Sen. Lamont Bagby, D-Henrico. Like Bagby, if Peake were to chair his party, he does not plan to step away from his role as a state senator. An often vocal member of the chamber, Peake said that he'd apply his outgoing nature to his role as RPV chair. 'I think that's part of being chairman,' he said. 'You've got to get out there and talk to people and get them motivated.'SUPPORT: YOU MAKE OUR WORK POSSIBLE
