It comes after local police arrested the owner of a popular bar in Las Palmas for his alleged connection to the horrific murder. Police believe the person who killed her had first stabbed her in the neck before trying to dismember her body. They also suspect she was unconscious and bleeding to death while the attacker chopped at her legs. According to local eyewitness reports, the arrested suspect is the owner of the popular Arenales Bar Cafeteria. The investigation is still ongoing, and police have not ruled out further arrests. Part of Arias' neck was also hacked off. Cops think this was an attempt to dispose of her body in a container or bags before the corpse was left on a San Andres beach. The bar where the owner was arrested has now been sealed off with police tape and an armed guard. After her body was found by a passer-by, the Armed Forces' Homicide Unit was deployed to the search for her killer. The bar owner was arrested at his home in Las Torres on May 6, and is due to appear in court either on Wednesday or Thursday.
