Carl Mullan 'absolutely buzzing' as he lands new gig within RTÉ

Carl Mullan has revealed he is taking a momentary step back from his radio duties next week as he takes on a new gig on RTÉ One. The presenter co-hosts RTÉ 2FM Breakfast weekday mornings with Roz Purcell and Aisling Bonner, but will be on a brief hiatus next week. Making the announcement on Friday morning, Carl teased that he was 'leaving' his work colleagues as he had landed a new gig. 'I am absolutely buzzing to let everyone know that I am the new Master of Ceremoies at the Rose of Tralee International Festival!' Carl announced. Roz admitted, 'Do you just mean the MC?' 'The MC,' Carl confirmed, 'The voiceover guy. I'm just going to keep it to Master of Ceremonies, if ya don't mind. Maybe if you see me on the street go, 'There's the Master of Ceremonies for the Rose of Tralee!'' 'That would be a nice way to address him,' Roz confirmed. He detailed: 'Telling ya about them, what they're about, who they are, where they're from.' 'Do they know that you don't have a memory?' Aisling joked, with Carl admitting he is 'taking it very seriously' and has a binder of information. It's not the first time Carl has been involved with the long-standing beauty pageant, with the presenter revealing he was once a Rose Escort — which he admitted was 'single-handedly the hardest job' he's ever done. 'You're expected to have like a kit with you in case anything goes wrong,' Carl shared, 'You have to have a sewing kit with you — plasters. You're ready to go.' Carl revealed he had the 'tux ready to go' as he noted he would be predominantly heard but would appear on the TV on occasion. The Rose of Tralee takes place on Monday and Tuesday, broadcast live on RTÉ One from 8pm.
