Rabri Devi alleges life threat to son Tejashwi Yadav from BJP, JD(U)
Former chief minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Rabri Devi on Friday alleged a threat from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (United), or JD (U), to the life of her son, Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the Opposition in the Bihar assembly. She claimed there had been four attempts to assassinate Yadav and that his life was under severe threat RJD leader Rabri Devi at a protest against the special electoral roll revision. (ANI) Devi accused the ruling BJP and JD(U) of conspiring against Yadav because of his and RJD's rising popularity ahead of the 2025 Bihar assembly elections. 'BJP and JD (U) are conspiring... We know who is behind it,' she said outside the state legislative council. State BJP chief Dilip Kumar Jaiswal dismissed Devi's allegations as baseless and politically motivated. He accused the RJD of fabricating a narrative to garner public sympathy ahead of the elections. 'Tejashwi Yadav has Y-category security. And if there is any real threat, the government shall review and enhance the security cover.' The allegations came amid RJD's protests against the Special Intensive Revision of Bihar's electoral roll, saying it aims to disenfranchise millions. Devi defended the protests. 'We will protest as it is about the people of Bihar... What about the 40 million out of the state? The state government must respond.' RJD legislators dressed in black protested in the state assembly for five days against the 'attack on democratic rights'. The protests heightened tensions, with the Opposition accusing the government of undermining Bihar's electoral process to weaken their voter base. The ruling BJP and JD(U) attended the assembly wearing helmets, saying they feared physical attacks from RJD members.

Right to vote being snatched, says Rabri Devi as SIR showdown intensifies in Bihar Assembly
New Delhi: The political storm over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls continued to dominate proceedings on the last day of the Bihar Assembly, with opposition parties protesting against the procedure. Former Chief Minister Rabri Devi echoed the opposition's outrage, saying, 'The names of 61 lakh people have been removed from the voter list. The BJP is snatching away people's right to vote.' CPI(ML) MLC Shashi Yadav called the move unconstitutional and unprecedented. 'This is happening for the first time in the country. Until now, we have had the constitutional right to become voters upon turning 18. But now, the government wants you to prove whether your name will be included in the voter list or not. It is wrong, and we are opposing it,' she said. Meanwhile, JD(U) leaders dismissed the allegations as political drama. Senior party leader K.C. Tyagi stated, 'One month was given to register names in the voter list. 97 per cent of individuals have already been registered. Those whose names were left out or incorrectly entered still have time. I have no doubt about the impartiality of the Election Commission.' JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha added, 'This is not the first time an SIR is being conducted in Bihar. The same was done in 2003. It is the Election Commission's job to revise the list before every election. Nothing is new or sinister about this.' RJD leader Abdul Bari Siddiqui questioned the government's reluctance for open debate, saying, 'Our stand has been clearly stated in the House. This issue deserves serious discussion, but the government is avoiding it. That means something is being hidden.' In response to the opposition's disruption, Bihar Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary said, 'There was a discussion on the SIR in the Vidhan Sabha at the opposition's request. They said they would let the House function after that. But they are still protesting because their issue is not really with the SIR.' RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav escalated the issue nationally by writing letters to 35 prominent opposition leaders, expressing deep concern over what he termed a 'deliberate cleansing drive.' He even threatened to boycott the upcoming Assembly elections if the process continues unchecked.

'His Life's In Danger': Rabri Devi Alleges Conspiracy To Kill Tejashwi Yadav Amid Bihar SIR Row
Rabri Devi alleged that the ruling BJP-JD(U) alliance was behind a conspiracy to assassinate Tejashwi Yadav amid growing protests over the controversial SIR exercise. As the opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) continues protests over Bihar's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi made a shocking claim, alleging a bid to kill Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav. While addressing the media, Rabri Devi raised serious allegations against the ruling BJP-JD(U) alliance, claiming a conspiracy to assassinate Tejashwi Yadav amid growing protests over the controversial SIR exercise. 'We have been surrounding the Assembly since 5 days. The state government must respond… There have been four attempts to kill Tejashwi Yadav, and his life is in danger… The BJP and JD(U) are the ones who are conspiring," she said. Rabri Devi accused the BJP of snatching the people's right to vote. While the Election Commission insists that the SIR exercise is a routine, court-monitored process aimed at eliminating bogus voters, the opposition has claimed that it risks the disenfranchisement of millions, particularly migrant workers and economically vulnerable citizens who may struggle to meet document requirements. 'I know him since childhood… he used to do hooliganism at Boring Road. He used to harass girls at Boring Road," she said. Her remarks followed a heated altercation between Choudhary and Tejashwi Yadav in the Bihar Assembly on Thursday over the Election Commission's ongoing SIR process. The BJP leader targeted Tejashwi personally and said, 'Who are you? The one whose father is a criminal, what will he say? Get lost… you're a lootera – lootera… what will he say?" In response, Tejashwi Yadav said, 'If you speak too loudly, you'll get wet." The RJD leader later reiterated that the parties in the opposition alliance could boycott the upcoming elections in Bihar if the Election Commission's voter roll revision in Bihar was not stopped. The Bihar SIR row has been at the centre of opposition protests in the Parliament, resulting in five consecutive days of disruptions as MPs raised slogans and displayed placards demanding a rollback of the exercise. Elections are likely to be held in Bihar around October-November, as the term of the assembly ends in November. Uproarious scenes in council on third day
Patna: Uproarious scenes were witnessed in the legislative council for the third consecutive day on Wednesday as the opposition members protested over the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in the state. A majority of the opposition members, including former CM Rabri Devi, attended the House dressed in black clothes as a mark of protest. As the House assembled for the day, the opposition members rose from their seats and began shouting slogans like "vote ki chori bandh karo", "samvidhan ki hatya bandh karo" and "SIR wapas lo". Subsequently, they trooped into the well of the House while waving posters and raising slogans as CM Nitish Kumar and the other ministers sitting on the treasury benches appeared amused. As the chairman's repeated appeals to put the House in order fell flat, he adjourned the House till lunch. Before lunch, the House could barely function for 10 minutes. Similar scenes were witnessed outside the Council too, where the opposition members, led by Rabri, protested the SIR. "Our protests will continue until 'vote theft' with the help of the EC stops," senior RJD member and former minister Abdul Bari Siddiqui told reporters in the portico of the House.
