Radio 1's All Day Breakfast with Greg James Surprise it's Miley Cyrus! (the real Miley Cyrus)!
Greg surprised a bunch of the Moore Student Radio team with a celebrity guest during a tour of the Radio 1 Big Weekend studio in Liverpool. They had no clue Miley was about to appear live on screen. They didn't believe it was the real Miley Cyrus. There were a lot of emotional Hannah Montana fans in the room. Introducing Becky the Wasp Biologist. She wrote a song for the Edinburgh Fringe from the perspective of a wasp and we have the exclusive first play on Radio 1. Becky says they are misunderstood and she's rooting for all wasps. Apparently she's got a catalogue of songs about wasps. Watch this space. You heard it here first. Katie Thistleton and Vick Hope are off on maternity leave this summer so Jamie's wife Sophie is joining him on Radio 1 in the afternoons. She thinks she's the only person on the planet who can put up with him for 3 hours a day every day. It's live so wish them luck. Greg flossed his teeth with Charlie Hedges hair when they hugged at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Liverpool. Not weird at all. Now that's out there let's get on with ThursWAAAAHAAY business. What's making you wahhaahhhaay today? It's clumsy runner Nat's turn on Yesterday's Quiz. She wants to beat her husband Marcus, which TBH is a low bar. Pregnant Vick Hope shares photos of her send off from Radio 1 as she heads off on maternity leave after partying at Big Weekend
Vick Hope has shared snaps from her last hurrah at Radio 1 before she heads off on maternity leave. The presenter, 35, who is expecting her first child with DJ Calvin Harris, 41, was in great spirits as she presented at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Liverpool after hosting her last show on the station earlier in the week. She shared a series of images showing her having fun with fellow presenter Greg James, 39, and other members of the BBC Radio 1 team. Taking in everything the festival had to offer over the weekend, Vick even got on stage to ask music fans for baby name suggestions. She captioned the snaps: 'Love Laugh Liverpool ' BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend, what a way to wrap up! On your TV, radio & online, BOSS.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Vick also showcased her varied festival maternity wardrobe in the snaps, having only just confirmed her pregnancy last week. She wore several casually chic outfits including a brown jacket and tightly fitted mini-dress that showed off her growing bump. But opted for a long tie-dye dress that also put her impending arrival on full display when she stepped on stage. The presenter wore a Newcastle United football shirt to represent her hometown when they played in the Premier League against Everton on Sunday. Another festival outfit consisted of a pair of ankle length boots and a tight brown patterned dress. Following the announcement of her pregnancy, Vick was flooded with support from the Radio 1 team. Her co-presenter, Jamie Laing, 36, took the opportunity to tell her she will make a fantastic mum on air. Jamie said: 'You're an amazing friend, an amazing person, and you're just going to be an amazing mum.' Vick and Calvin's baby is set to have an interesting start to life, with the pair owning several homes, including a farm in Ibiza and a 10-acre estate in the Cotswolds. The couple are reported to be in the process of building a mansion on their Cotswolds estate, which is reported to become their main place of residence. The couple tied the knot in September 2023 and only just announced their impending arrival, choosing to keep their relationship largely out of the spotlight. Vick stressed on air that she didn't want to make a big deal out of her pregnancy. She said: 'This is not an announcement, by the way. People keep saying are you going to announce, are you going to announce? And I'm like, I'm not the King. 'I'll be honest, I struggle with anything that's personal or private. I will tell you a story about eating a kebab out of a bin, that's one thing. 'But there's a line and so I've never been that big on sharing. Particularly because I've just been enjoying this privately and quietly.'

Newsbeat spoke to artists and fans about the big talking points. 1. Sam Fender's hypersonic rise… ...is just getting started."This is the most nervous I've ever been and I have no idea why," Sam Fender told the crowd during his much-anticipated headline set on Saturday marked the start of a big summer for the North Shields singer-songwriter - the first of many huge shows across the country off the back of his latest album People may have been some teething problems and tech issues at points - he was seen struggling with his guitar connection at it didn't stop the crowd spontaneously chanting anthems like Seventeen Going Under and Hypersonic Missiles long after the songs had finished, bringing a smile to Fender's vulnerability and relatability is part of what makes him endearing to his followers. In some respects, he's an unlikely superstar - but he's about to become an even bigger fans Chevy and Emily - who became friends at a Sam Fender gig - it's his "local hero" vibe."Every time I see him it's the same excitement," Emily told Newsbeat. She's in for an exciting few months. 2. Nostalgia is still what it used to be It's not a Big Weekend without Anthems sets - inspired by the Radio 1 brand, throwing it back to bangers from the '00s and '10s.A lot of the Liverpool crowd weren't even born when Sugababes and Natasha Bedingfield dropped their biggest hits, but it didn't stop them singing every word."Our music is timeless," Sugababes told Newsbeat backstage - and the fans was "very nostalgic" for Laura and Alice who said "it's so good to see them back".It may have been more than 20 years since the group first pushed the with new generations taking inspiration from Y2K culture, their new millennium, pop-meets-R&B energy has had a recent resurgence - inspiring younger acts like FLO - and it's not going away anytime soon. 3. Ed Sheeran delights and disappoints By Saturday morning, rumours were swirling around Sefton Park - suggesting Ed Sheeran would be the "Secret Set" opening the New Music it was confirmed on social media, fans rushed to the tent - but a few songs in, the area had "reached capacity".Sheeran - who's spent the last couple of years selling-out massive stadiums around the world - said he wanted to play the smaller tent to feel the "energy" - and those lucky enough to be there loved the intimacy."He's the biggest artist in the world" for fan George, who described it as "a mental pull - the fact they managed to get him for a secret set".But for those shut out after the area was closed like Kate, 20 and Scarlett, 19, it was disappointing he wasn't on the Main Stage, where more fans could have seen him."I messaged my mum when it got announced," Kate tells Newsbeat. "Her and my sister were so jealous, and I was like, 'I'll send you videos!', but I'm not going to be able to." 4. Girl power When this year's Main Stage headliners were announced, fans and journalists were quick to point out that they were all white and male BBC defended the line-up, telling Newsbeat at the time that female artists would make up around 60% of it - adding that "Radio 1 has a rich history of supporting and championing female and diverse artists"."It's very lazy," Self Esteem tells Newsbeat backstage, when asked about the lack of female the singer, whose real name is Rebecca Lucy Taylor, says the "music industry is still so heavily-weighted in favour of men".From Tate McRae to HAIM on the Main Stage and Joy Crooks to JADE in the New Music tent - Sunday was seen as a day for women, demonstrating the depth and breadth of female like Ellie, praised the way that Lola Young represents women in a "real" and authentic acts might not have closed the Main Stage this time, but for many, they stole the BBC says Radio 1 will "continue to advocate" for representation in the industry. 5. Disposable vapes: Ready for a summer of festivals without them? If you've been to a festival in recent years, you'll have either used or been surrounded by disposable vapes, despite some events banning the last major festival before a UK-wide ban on 1 June, there were special bins at the Big Weekend to recycle people we spoke to at Sefton Park weren't aware of the upcoming law change, while others said it was had planned ahead, including Izzy, who's training to be a doctor."I've got a reusable one now," she said, adding she would usually "have a pack of cigs" at a festival but she'd "hate smoking that in a crowd and a vape's easier".But if vapes are now part of every festival, there's been so much about this Big Weekend - the first ever in Liverpool - that's felt unique to the the warmth of the people, to the hundreds of red football shirts on display as Liverpool lifted the Premier League down the road - it's felt like a three-day celebration of the people and culture.
