PM Discusses Ministry Activities with Minister of Agriculture
Sana'a - (Saba): Prime Minister Ahmed Ghaleb al-Rahawi met on Wednesday with Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources Dr. Radwan al-Rubai to discuss the progress of the ministry's activities and those of its affiliated units, the challenges they face, and ways to mitigate them. The meeting also addressed the marketing of agricultural products, highlighting the importance of this process in achieving commodity stability in the local market on one hand, and encouraging farmers to enhance and develop their annual production levels of various crops on the other. The Prime Minister affirmed the Government of Change and Development's commitment—based on the strategic importance of the agricultural and fisheries sectors for national food security—to supporting both sectors, which employ a large segment of the Yemeni population, as well as reinforcing the foundations of their stability and development. He also praised the success stories achieved in this field, particularly those related to self-sufficiency in several key crops and the annual increase in grain production, especially wheat, along with ongoing efforts to develop and promote the cultivation of high-quality Yemeni coffee. Dr. al-Rubai reviewed the ministry's key achievements and the main activities it is currently undertaking. He expressed his appreciation for the government's support—represented by the relevant authorities—and its cooperation with the ministry to reduce existing challenges and move forward with the implementation of strategic and vital plans and programs. Hodeida launches major Sidr tree planting project in al-Munirah
Hodeida – Saba: Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources Dr. Radwan al-Rubai and Hodeida Governor Abdullah Atifi on Tuesday inaugurated a project to sow and plant 250,000 Sidr tree seedlings at al-Munirah district nursery. The project, a partnership with local beekeepers and agricultural cooperative societies, aims to expand afforestation and increase agricultural land. Al-Rubai and Atifi were briefed on the nursery's operations, seedling production, and distribution plans, noting its role in supporting community afforestation and improving rural family incomes. Minister al-Rubai highlighted the project's importance for plant production, beekeeping, and self-sufficiency in fruit and environmental trees, emphasizing Sidr's nutritional, medicinal, and cultural value. He stated the ministry prioritizes establishing community nurseries to boost farmer incomes, create jobs, and foster community agricultural partnerships, envisioning al-Munirah as a model for other regions. Governor Atifi hailed the nursery as a developmental gain for al-Munirah, reflecting the state's commitment to agricultural transformation in rural areas. He stressed the governorate's support for environmental and agricultural projects that restore vegetation and combat desertification, urging coordination among associations and nurseries. Agriculture minister visits Bani Hasan front in Hajjah for Eid
Hajjah – Saba: Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources Dr. Radwan al-Rubai on Monday inspected the conditions of fighters on Bani Hasan Front in Hajjah governorate, exchanging Eid al-Adha greetings with them. The Minister conveyed congratulations from the Leader of the Revolution and the President of the Supreme Political Council, expressing pride in the armed forces' heroic stances. He described the Eid visit as a minimal duty towards those defending the homeland and supporting brothers in Palestine. Al-Rubai lauded the victories achieved by the fighters on the front lines, attributing Yemen's military success to divine grace and the steadfastness of these forces. He emphasized that the defenders' resilience during Eid signifies Yemen's continued steadfastness against challenges to national sovereignty. Meeting chaired by Al-Madani to discuss activities implemented during afforestation season
Sana'a - Saba: A meeting in the capital Sana'a on Monday, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Administration and Local and Rural Development Mohammed al-Madani, discussed activities implemented during the afforestation season and plans to enhance vegetation cover in various provinces. In the meeting, which included Ministers of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, Dr. Radwan al-Rubai Health and Environment, Dr. Ali Shaiban; Chairman of the Agricultural Cooperative Union, Mubarak al-Qili; and a number of agricultural and environmental leaders, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the government, through the National Committee for Economic Empowerment, is working on parallel tracks to find sustainable alternatives for those who rely on cutting trees as a source of income. He pointed out that protecting the environment is a national and societal responsibility that requires integrated efforts. He emphasized the importance of providing central support to local authorities to enable them to implement afforestation plans, in addition to exploiting the autumn season to expand green areas. He urged the provision of peace tree and jujube tree seeds and the expansion of seedling production, contributing to building a sustainable environment that serves future generations. Al-Madani noted the role of the media, preachers, and dignitaries in raising environmental awareness, stating that Yemeni society, with its rural nature, is qualified to lead the agricultural-ecological transformation, especially with community mobilization through the Agricultural Cooperative Union. The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources announced the launch of a national project to plant one million seedlings during the current agricultural season, stressing that the ministry had actually begun implementing the project last March, along with planting 100,000 jujube seedlings in Tihama and Saada, through the ministry's own efforts and the community. Al-Rubai explained that the ministry had established new nurseries in provinces that lacked them, especially Al-Jawf, to strengthen the infrastructure of the agricultural sector, emphasizing that agricultural awareness programs also include summer centers, as part of building a generation with agricultural awareness. For his part, the Minister of Health and Environment pointed out that the deterioration of the vegetation cover impacts public health and the environmental situation, which requires concerted efforts and the development of solutions and alternatives to prevent excessive logging and raise environmental awareness of its risks and harms. Dr. Shaiban emphasized the need for coordination between various stakeholders to provide a healthy and safe environment, calling on all members of society to assume their national responsibilities in preserving and protecting environmental resources. The Chairman of the Agricultural Cooperative Union affirmed the union's commitment to implementing the directives of the Ministry of Agriculture and development partners, highlighting the importance of implementing afforestation campaigns through agricultural cooperatives to ensure direct access to farmers and achieve a real impact on the ground.
