Ed Sheeran surprises fans with Irish performance

BELFAST — Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has surprised fans by playing a number of original songs and Irish tunes during a music and arts festival in Wexford town. The hitmaker played alongside Irish bands Amble, BIIRD, Beoga and Aaron Rowe in the Sky and The Ground pub on Tuesday night, as part of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann. Brought up in Suffolk, the Galway Girl singer's dad hails from Belfast, and in June Sheeran announced that he identifies culturally as Irish. Sheeran also made sure fans who couldn't get make inside the pub didn't miss out, as he made his way outside to perform an acoustic rendition of his hit single Perfect. Sheeran and all-female trad supergroup BIIRD performed traditional folk song Wild Mountain Thyme together. The crowd sang along as Sheeran played the guitar, accompanied by the other artists on violin and the bodhrán - a traditional Irish frame drum. Wild Mountain Thyme is a Scottish and Irish folk song which was first recorded in 1957 and has been performed by many people. Aaron Rowe and Irish folk band Amble joined BIIRD and Sheeran to perform folk song Raglan Road to the crowd of enthusiastic Fleadh-goers. The performance of Raglan Road was no different, with everyone singing together as the violin, accordion and guitar were played while the musicians stood in a circle at the pub. On Raglan Road was originally written by Irish poet Patrick Kavanagh and it was brought to musical life and made famous by The Dubliners. Vocals and instrumentals from Irish folk band Beoga, Aaron Rowe, BIIRD, and Sheeran came together for a rendition of The Parting Glass. The origins of the song can be found in Scotland with it being first printed along with its familiar melody in Colm O Lochlainn's Irish Street Ballads in 1939. Cork poet Patrick Galvin recorded the song in 1956 and The Clancy Brothers popularised it when they included it on their 1959 album. Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann - the All-Ireland Fleadh - is held for a week during August and, in the past, has welcomed up to 600,000 visitors to the host town or city. It is the world's largest annual festival of Irish music and hosts street performers, intimate concerts, big-name acts and more 150 competitions showcasing the best of traditional music talent. Fleadh Cheoil is run by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann - the society of the musicians of Ireland. The organisation was founded in 1951 by traditional musicians and Gaelic culture advocates from across Ireland. Each year Comhaltas hosts numerous fleadhanna (festivals) across the island at county and provincial level. Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is the best known of the festivals, often simply known as the Fleadh. — BBC

JoJo Siwa's ex responds to loved-up snaps of Dance Moms star with Chris Hughes

Celebrity Big Brother stars, JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes have been posting romantic snaps of themselves in the US after the Dance Moms star dumped her ex, Kath Ebbs, last month JoJo Siwa's ex appears to have responded to the slew of loved-up snaps the Dance Moms star has been posting of herself with Chris Hughes. The Celebrity Big Brother stars struck up a very flirty friendship when they were on the ITV reality show and have now been larking about in the US and Mexico as their relationship seems to be hotting up. Aussie artist, Kath, who was dumped by JoJo the night Celebrity Big Brother ended - despite flying across the world to see the Karma star - said they were heartbroken when their relationship was cut short. However, after seeing what their ex has been getting up to with Love Islander Chris, 32, on Instagram recently, they posted - and then deleted- a snap of themselves with their head in their hands with the caption: "The only thing I can say is LOL." ‌ ‌ Now that Kath has been dumped by the plucky performer, JoJo is a free agent and looked delighted to be back together with Chris at the weekend in Mexico where the Dance Moms star was performing. The pair shared a very loved-up snap of themselves lying together on a sofa and recently partied up a storm in Florida for JoJo's 22nd birthday, with no expense spared. Spotted at dinner together at a Disney park in Florida this week, the pair were seen watching a troupe of Irish dancers perform on tables as they enjoyed all the fancy Raglan Road restaurant at Disney Springs in Orlando had to offer. Kath, however, has admitted that they were left reeling by their break-up with JoJo, telling their podcast listeners that the former couple had a long conversation during the Celebrity Big Brother afterparty, in which JoJo ended the relationship. Opening up further on the episode, titled Big Brother and The Whole Damn Thing, Kath revealed they're no longer on speaking terms with the performer, revealing JoJo told her: "I want to say I want to try [with you], but I don't, and I have clarity on that." When asked about the split announcement video they posted at the time of the break-up, they admitted: "I was really naive in that, if I'm gonna be honest." Kath continued: "I thought I'll just say how I felt, say what's happened, line in the sand. It's done, we're all gonna move on. ‌ "That didn't happen, I think too it might have seemed like I just jumped at it and I guess in a way I did, but it was because I wanted to put it behind me. "I think what people don't realise is those two weeks were so f*****g hard for me. Like, so hard. It sounds ridiculous, but it just brought up so much for me and so many triggers." Breaking down in tears, they added: "I literally was in one of the darkest places I think I've been in my adult life those two weeks. Just feeling alone and abandoned and watching something that was really hurting my feelings but not knowing what was real, having people come after me. I was in the worst f*****g place."

Chris Hughes and JoJo Siwa enjoy another date night as they celebrate birthday

Celebrity Big Brother stars Chris Hughes and JoJo Siwa have reunited across the pond as the Karma star celebrates her 22nd birthday in style, with no expense spared Chris Hughes and JoJo Siwa have enjoyed another date night after striking up a very flirty friendship in the Celebrity Big Brother house. The excitable pair got tongues wagging on the ITV reality show last month when they became inseparable despite JoJo, 22, having a girlfriend. Now that Aussie artist, Kath Ebbs, has been dumped by the Karma singer, JoJo is a free agent and looked delighted to be back together with Chris, 32, at the weekend in Mexico where the Dance Moms star was performing. They shared a very loved-up snap of themselves lying together on a sofa and have now gone on another date as they partied up a storm in Florida for JoJo's 22nd birthday, with no expense spared. ‌ ‌ Spotted on a dinner date at a Disney park in Florida, the pair were seen watching a troupe of Irish dancers perform on tables as they enjoyed all the fancy Raglan Road restaurant at Disney Springs in Orlando had to offer. Eagle-eyed fans also noticed Chris' cute CBB gesture as they claimed he was wearing the top he dedicated to JoJo in the house after he wore it when they danced together. The starstruck follower replied to the recent snaps of the pair on Instagram: "I'm pretty sure that's the same top he wore on their last night in the BB house… the top he'd said he'd remember because he wore it for the first time 'I danced with you'. MY HEART." JoJo called it quits with her partner, Kath, on the night of the CBB final and immediately spent the following weekend with Chris and his pals before jetting back to America. Claiming it was important for the Love Island star to be with JoJo on her birthday, a source told The Sun: 'Chris didn't want to wait, he wanted to be there for her birthday. ‌ 'That's what this was all about. It was important to him. It's her birthday on May 19 so they'll be spending it together. They'll also have more privacy in Mexico and she would have missed him if he wasn't there. 'He could've waited until she landed in the UK for the next leg of her tour later this month but they wanted to be able to catch up away from prying eyes." JoJo will be back in the UK on May 26 for her gig at Colours Hoxton in London, which Chris is due to attend. Since leaving CBB, they've kept coy over their relationship status, however, it would appear that they are still enjoying each other's company. Meanwhile, JoJo's ex Kath has released a podcast episode spilling all on their break-up - including their expletive row. The stars had a long conversation during the Celebrity Big Brother afterparty, in which JoJo ended the relationship. Opening up further on the episode, titled Big Brother and The Whole Damn Thing, Kath revealed they're no longer on speaking terms with the performer, revealing JoJo told her: "I want to say I want to try [with you], but I don't, and I have clarity on that."
