Box Office Trends: Saiyaara soars a new high with Rs 25 crore on discounted Tuesday; Nets Rs 130 crore in 5 days
The Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda-led Saiyaara is scripting its own journey at the box office, continuing to scale new heights every passing day. According to early trends, Saiyaara is headed to collect in the range of Rs 24.50 crore to Rs 25.50 crore on Tuesday, taking the 5-day total collections in the vicinity of Rs 130 crore. The Mohit Suri directorial has largely benefitted from the discounted pricing on Tuesday, as the film scored record occupancies all across the board. Statistically speaking, the Tuesday collections at discounted pricing are higher than the Saturday collections, whereas the footfalls on Tuesday are at par the Sunday footfalls. To term this a historic run is an understatement, as never in the last 25 years have we seen a newcomer film perform at these numbers. Saiyaara is continuing to surpass all expectations and predictions, defying the rules of theatrical business. Usually, films performing at higher numbers opt out of discount Tuesday offer, but YRF has gone ahead with pricing cap, and the same is turning out to be a masterstroke on the distribution front. There have been films like Raid 2 and Sitaare Zameen Par which refused to participate in the pricing offer, but the results of Saiyaara just puts the limelight on how big a mistake it was from the distributors and producers back in the day. The pricing cap always boosts the footfalls for a feature film, sampling it to a larger section of audience, and every mid-sized non-tentpole film can participate to escalate the collections. It's delightful to see a market leader like YRF setting the norms for the others to follow. Interestingly, Saiyaara has phenomenal advances in PVRInox was Wednesday as well, as the film has sold 50,00 tickets already in the chain, and is headed to clock advance of about 80,000 tickets in just PVRInox. The pre-sales of Saiyaara in the chains for the sixth day will be higher than the advances commanded by most films for their first day. Saiyaara is a historic blockbuster, and is not looking to stop anytime soon, as sky is the limit for the film as far as lifetime business is concerned. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates!

Films of Bollywood stars shine on OTT platforms but their web shows falter
Mainstream Bollywood stars may not have faced stranger things. They are stuck in an odd dichotomy of appearances on streaming platforms. While their box office hits are equally successful on OTT platforms, original shows that feature top actors often don't find similar traction. According to experts, recent box office successes such as Raid 2 and Kesari Chapter 2 featuring Bollywood stars such as Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar find considerable draw on streaming platforms and figure consistently among the top five films for weeks. However, web originals starring movie actors such as Saif Ali Khan (Jewel Thief), Sidharth Malhotra (Indian Police Force), Varun Dhawan (Citadel: Honey Bunny) and Sara Ali Khan (Ae Watan Mere Watan) failed to live up to expectations. Experts said web shows starring mainstream film faces are often conceptualized to accommodate the actor and are not a compelling story to tell. Movies, on the other hand, land up on OTT with the advantage of marketing and buzz in cinemas. When it comes to online content, audiences are quick to dismiss sub-par programming, given the abundance of entertainment options across languages. 'The marketing and PR push around theatrical films is so aggressive and creates such a halo effect around them that people end up watching them almost by default on OTT, especially if the film has done well in theatres," film producer Shariq Patel explained. There is a readymade audience for a film that has been released in cinemas, and an OTT release only translates into repeat viewership. Meanwhile, streaming platforms operate very differently, often limiting the promotional push to markets such as Mumbai and other metros. It is also likely that the viewer may not know of a web show if the algorithm isn't specifically designed to recommend it. As a result, till date, theatrical remains the beacon of what most actors aspire for. Quite complacent A senior executive at a streaming platform said on condition of anonymity that OTT services are also quite complacent once a mainstream star or big banner is on board to helm a web original. 'They think their job ends once these names come on board and they don't see the need to go the hard mile of being creatively involved or pushing the envelope," the executive said, adding that this is why the biggest hits on OTT aren't shows starring typical Bollywood names, be it Panchayat on Prime Video or Criminal Justice on JioHotstar. Also, because the production house has already made money upfront when the show is commissioned by the platform, there is little incentive to work hard or hunger to get noticed, as is the case with newer or smaller content studios. Experts emphasized that these days, thematic depth and conviction matter more than who stars in a show or a film. 'Just star power is not enough on the big or the small screen. The audience can access fresh narratives in any language with just a click, and they know a good project from one that is not up to the mark," film producer Anand Pandit said. 'The audience traction today is dependent on the quality of content, be it on OTT platforms or in theatres. The stars have their loyal audience, but their fans too want their icons to work in projects that are worthy of their presence."

Netflix's 'Mandala Murders' actress Vaani Kapoor on her working hours amid Deepika Padukone's shift demand: 'There are times when I worked for 16 hours a day but...'
In an exclusive interview with Firstpost, Kapoor spoke about her prep for this character that sees her in the role of a cop, digging deeper in the world of murders and mysteries, and her take on actors' working hours read more Vaani Kapoor is gearing up for YRF and Netflix's Mandala Murders that will stream on the OTT giant from July 25. The actress has acted in films like Shuddh Desi Romance, Befikre, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, Khel Khel Mein, Bell Bottom, and is fresh off the success of Raid 2. In an exclusive interview with Firstpost, Kapoor spoke about her prep for this character that sees her in the role of a cop, digging deeper in the world of murders and mysteries, and her take on actors' working hours after the debate that has sparked around Deepika Padukone's shift demand. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Edited excerpts from the interview This does not look like a regular cat and mouse whodunnit. The trailer suggests it digs deeper. What can we expect? Like you said, it's a fictional world setup with crime, which is blended into drama. There's mythology involved. There's a whole fictional world, there's so many things that one can resonate with when it comes to human emotions. There are complexities, one can wonder, and you know, when you're sitting alone, you can actually think how far am I willing to go for my belief in something. What is my purpose? How far am I willing to make this choice? Am I willing to face a consequence like that? I am aware of the consequences which are around that the choice that I make. So I feel it just makes you wonder, it makes you question, it leaves a lot of room for food for thought for the audience. Raid 2 did really well. Khel Khel Mein got some fabulous response, and now the trailer of Mandala Murders also looks exciting. What are the comments that make you validated as an actor? You're not just making cinema to sit in the comfort of your living room and watching it alone. You want people to watch it, celebrate that with you. If I can make a difference or an impact on any level with the audiences and there's somebody sitting in their house or wherever in life and can build a cord and build a connection to the character. If that can inspire somebody. I feel my job is done well. And more audiences who will give me love the merrier I am. We have seen so many female officers of late, so how did it feel to play an officer? I tried to, they've done brilliant jobs in the past. I love Mardaani. Rani Mukerji is untouchable and one of the finest, brilliant actors I have ever seen on screen and in the cinema. But Riya is somebody who also is very human, like she's more real, she's not always led by strength. There are times when she's also kind of fighting her own demons. There's a personal life, a person can be complexed. There are times when she's led by strength and there are times when she has breakdowns, like any normal human being. There are things that have left an impact on her mind, in her life. I think that the very nice concoction of having weakness and not weakness, but vulnerability and strength is what excited me. Since you have dabbled with films, OTT, there are a string of interviews happening. After a point, can it get exhausting? Do you sometimes tell your directors or anybody that you can only contribute this much in a particular day? Main bolti hoon 12 ghante koi sunta nahin hai meri. I say it should be in the contract and let's follow that. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD As much as my intention is to deliver and there are times, many times there are certain projects where I've worked for 15, 16 hours a day, every day. Every single day. But as an act only to better my job, I need to replenish myself. You know, after a point I can't speak to each other, but I feel like it's unhealthy for me, because I will not deliver my best at the Nth hour. When you set up a closeup right at the end of the day after 14 hours, 15 hours, you're delivering something where I'm semi- facing brainfall, I'm tired, I'm fatigued, I'm not sleeping well. And this happens for many, many, many, many, many, many days. And then one day you're just like, I want to give this the drive, but I'm giving up, I need to sleep. There are times when I'm just sleeping for three, four hours. And the next day you're supposed to look fresh, because the same audience will be yeh kya dikh rahi hai. But I know that I've not slept in 10 days. I'm not slept at all, as a human being, you need seven, eight hours of sleep. It's not coming out of some luxury of life that I'm asking. I'm not demanding luxury, but I do need to replenish myself. So the next day when I show up, I'm all there. I'm fresh. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD I can contribute better. I can add more to it. When my brain is sharp, when I'm alert, I'm aware. I'm rested, well rested. So I have said all of that, which is why you write that all in the contract for pretty much every project when it's needed and there, I'm a team player and I've never walked out of it and I would never do that. I find that highly unprofessional. I just hope it could be a mutual understanding that, okay, let's plan the day better. You have these because there are days when you're just waiting in your van for many, many hours. And it's a futile thing. You just plan it better. It's all about the planning. I don't think I've ever held a thing that main nahin rukoongi and I am walking out, never. I mean, you can't do that. I respect my craft, I respect my work, I'm grateful for the job. But I also need to deliver my best for that, I think 12 hours is a decent ask in my opinion, for me. It's a personal choice again, how much whoever can function in whatever capacity for how many hours, it's subjective. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

To Ahaan Panday On Saiyaara Success, Big Love From Rumoured Girlfriend Shruti Chauhan: "I Love You"
New Delhi: Ahaan Panday has become the centre of attention following the release of his debut film Saiyaara, which hit theatres on Friday. The film surpassed trade expectations and outperformed Raid 2 and Sky Force, entering the list of the top five highest-grossing openers of 2025. What's Happening While Ahaan's professional success is making headlines, his personal life has also sparked interest. Reportedly, the 27-year-old actor is in a relationship with Shruti Chauhan. Although neither of them has confirmed or denied the rumours, speculation intensified after Shruti posted a heartfelt message on social media celebrating Ahaan's big-screen debut. In her post, she praised the film's cast and crew and shared an emotional note for Ahaan: "To the boy who dreamed of this his entire life... I love you, I'm proud of you, I'm crying, I'm screaming... the world will finally know you and what you can do!" Who Is Ahaan Panday's Rumoured Girlfriend? Shruti Chauhan, 28, has worked across theatre, film, advertising, magazine shoots, live hosting and social media campaigns. She also appeared in a supporting role in Gully Boy. Background Ahaan comes from a well-known film family. He is the son of Chikki Panday (Chunky Panday's younger brother) and wellness expert Deanne Panday. His cousin is actress Ananya Panday, and his sister, Alanna Panday, is a lifestyle influencer. So far, Saiyaara has become the highest-grossing Hindi film led by debutants. The film collected Rs 83 crore in three days. The film's performance is especially notable considering its lead pair did not participate in traditional promotions ahead of release. Director Mohit Suri explained the decision, comparing it to the approach taken with his 2013 film Aashiqui 2, which also featured relatively fresh faces at the time, Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor. "It was an idea that collectively came forward. My producer Akshaye Widhani and, of course, Aditya Chopra (owner of Yash Raj Films), who has mentored us through this thing, suggested that until the two actors don't have anything behind them to talk about, the conversation will be filled with questions like 'Who is the prankster on the set?' or 'How is it to work with Mohit Suri?' It's all redundant stuff, and I don't think anyone has any interest in listening to all that," Suri said in an interview on the YouTube channel Just Too Filmy. While Saiyaara marks Ahaan Panday's on-screen debut, it is Aneet Padda's first feature film appearance. She previously gained attention for her performance in the Prime Video India series Big Girls Don't Cry last year.
