New Bruce Springsteen music set for June 27 release

Bruce Springsteen announced Thursday he will release a boxed set of new music this summer spanning 83 songs. 'Tracks II: The Lost Albums' is slated to drop June 27, seven complete albums recorded between 1983 and 2018, The Boss said. ''The Lost Albums' were full records, some of them even to the point of being mixed and not released,' said Springsteen in a statement on his website. 'I've played this music to myself and often close friends for years now. I'm glad you'll get a chance to finally hear them. I hope you enjoy them.' The 75-year-old released a preview in the form of the track 'Rain In The River,' an electrified arena-rock anthem. In a video clip accompanying the announcement, he said he took advantage of the pandemic to finish 'everything I had in my vault.' Springsteen last released a studio album in 2022, a collection of covers of classics by the likes of the Four Tops and the Supremes entitled 'Only the Strong Survive.'

Bruce Springsteen to release 7 ‘Lost Albums' containing over 80 never-before-heard songs

Bruce Springsteen is set to release over 80 new songs this summer with his newly announced 'Tracks II: The Lost Albums' collection. Planned for release on June 27, the seven full-length albums will include songs by The Boss that have never been heard. The songs span Springsteen's decades-long career and were written between 1983 and 2018. Springsteen said that he finished everything he had in his 'vault' during the pandemic – the final product of which became these upcoming seven albums – according to a trailer released Thursday. ''The Lost Albums' were full records, some of them even to the point of being mixed and not released,' Springsteen said in a statement on Thursday. 'I've played this music to myself and often close friends for years now. I'm glad you'll get a chance to finally hear them. I hope you enjoy them.' On Thursday, Springsteen gave the first taste of the 'Lost Albums' by releasing his first single 'Rain In The River,' which comes from one of the new lost albums titled 'Perfect World.' The other album titles, according to a news release, are 'LA Garage Sessions '83,' 'Streets of Philadelphia Sessions,' 'Faithless,' 'Somewhere North of Nashville,' 'Inyo' and 'Twilight Hours.' The collection of albums will offer a variety of sounds, including everything from the legendary musician's signature drum loop and synth sound to country-inspired melodies to orchestra-driven instrumentation, the release said. 'The ability to record at home whenever I wanted allowed me to go into a wide variety of different musical directions,' Springsteen said. Springsteen is set to kick off the European leg of his tour with the E Street Band in May in Manchester, and end in July in Milan.

Bruce Springsteen to release seven albums of unreleased songs

Bruce Springsteen is to release seven albums of unreleased songs recorded across a 35-year period. Tracks II: The Lost Albums includes 83 tracks recorded between the years 1983 to 2018. In a video, the 75-year-old explains: 'I often read about myself in the 90s as having some lost period or something. Really, I was working the whole time. 'During the pandemic, what I did for that period of time was I finished everything I had in my vault. 'So this is Tracks II: The Lost Albums. (They) are records that were full records. Some even to the point of being mixed and not released. 'For one reason or another, something I felt was missing from some of them, or they just didn't feel complete at the time.' He adds: 'Over a period of time, I built up a small collection of full albums that, for one reason or another, never got put out.' On Thursday, he released the song Rain In The River — which comes from the lost album Perfect World. The six other albums are titled LA Garage Sessions '83, Streets Of Philadelphia Sessions, Faithless, Somewhere North Of Nashville, Inyo and Twilight Hours. They will come in limited-edition nine LP, seven CD and digital formats with a 100-page cloth-bound, hardcover book featuring archival photos and a personal introduction to the project from Springsteen. A companion set titled Lost And Found: Selections From The Lost Albums will feature 20 highlights from across the collection – available on two LPs or one CD. Springsteen, also known as The Boss, has been making music for decades and formed his backing group the E Street Band in 1972. He has won 20 Grammys across his career, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999. Last year saw the release of documentary, Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen And The E Street Band, which included footage of rehearsals, backstage moments and personal reflections from the Born In The USA singer. The Bear actor Jeremy Allen White is set to play the veteran music star in an upcoming biopic titled Deliver Me From Nowhere. Tracks II: The Lost Albums will be released via Sony Music on June 27.
