Buy a sticker, make a difference: Support Rainbow Day Care's Casual Day drive
With Casual Day around the corner, Rainbow Day Care Centre for Children with Disabilities reminds the community to reach out in support of those with disabilities. The centre will also be hosting a Funday/ Sports Day in celebration.
Tatum Solomons, social worker and project manager for Rainbow Day Care, explained that Casual Day takes place on September 5. It is the biggest fundraiser and awareness campaign for persons with disabilities nationwide. This year, the theme will be 'Beyond the Label' to embrace unity through inclusion and diversity.
'The theme calls on society to look beyond a person's disability or assistive device and rather get to know the individual, ' said Tatum.
Each year, South Africans are encouraged to participate by purchasing and wearing the official Casual Day sticker and/ or merchandise, to show their support for persons with disabilities.
She continued, to participate, all you need to do is save the date, donate R20 to receive your official Casual Day sticker, which will be available at Rainbow Day Care, and then wear the sticker or merchandise to show your support.
'As an NPO, we need to raise funds on an ongoing basis, so with the Casual Day campaign, we will be raising much-needed funds to sustain our Centre as well as spread awareness around the plight of children with disabilities in a fun and engaging way.'
They are appealing to the community, including schools, businesses, church based organisations, health care facilities and government institutions to partner with them for this worthy cause.
