(Supplied/Ontario Provincial Police) Two people are facing drug trafficking charges after a traffic stop in northwestern Ontario led to the seizure of suspected cocaine and stolen property. Ontario Provincial Police said officers from the Rainy River District and Dryden Community Street Crime Units along with members of Treaty Three Police Service, arrested the suspects on July 9. According to police, the traffic stop occurred on Highway 11 in Alberton Township, just west of Fort Frances, Ont., at about 6:22 p.m. on Wednesday. As a result of an investigation, police have charged a 47-year-old man from Fort Frances with drug trafficking, two counts of possession of proceeds of crime and failing to comply with a probation order. A 41-year-old woman from Rainy River First Nation was also charged with drug trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime. Authorities seized approximately 110 grams of suspected cocaine and $1,200 in cash. 'During the investigation, police were (also) able to recover a stolen flat-screen television which had been previously reported to police,' OPP said in a news release. Both accused were held in custody pending a court appearance on Thursday.
