This film faced 34 legal cases, still earned 225% profit, made lead actress an overnight star, movie is..., lead actor was... There are several films in Bollywood that have landed in legal controversy prior its release. Today, we will talk about one such movie that really underwent through trouble seas, and dealt with 34 legal cases. Despite being in bad publicity, the film did exceedingly well and turned out to be a box office hit. Released in 1982, the film we are referring to is BR Chopra's Nikaah . Starring Raj Babbar, Deepak Parashar, and Salma Agha, the film was based on the concept of triple Talaq. According to IMDB, the film was initially titled, Talaq Talaq Talaq. However, the makers later changed it to Nikaah. During that time, the film as well as the storyline didn't settle well with the certain section of Muslims, and as a result the makers of Nikaah faced shocking 34 court cases. Many people intervened during the screening, and asked to stop the film. While, some just threw the posters out on the road in anger. Not just this, lead actress Salma Agha was threatened and harassed. There were several outrageous letters sent to her, warning to leave India and move back to London. Despite all the controversy, the film did surprisingly well and became a box office success. Made on a budget of Rs 4 crore, Nikaah earned Rs 9 crore, making a 225% of profit. The success of the film catapulted Salma to overnight stardom, leading to several offers for many other films. Other than Salma, Raj Babbar, and Deepak Parashar, the cast also consisted of Tanuja, Hina Kausar, Iftekhar and Asrani. Those who wish to watch the film, you can catch it on YouTube, Hotstar or Amazon Prime. Nikaah is surely way ahead of its time, showcasing a quite bold theme out and out.

For More: Fabulous Lives Vs. Bollywood Wives' Shalini Passi To Debut As Author In 2026 Ibrahim Ali Khan, son of Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, opened up about the frequent comparisons people draw between him and his father, especially during Saif's younger years. In a candid conversation with GQ India, Ibrahim revealed that not only do the audiences make the comparison, but his own mother, actress Amrita Singh, often remarks on how much he reminds her of a young Saif— particularly when the two are arguing. Amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attacks and India's strong retaliation through Operation Sindoor, a silent purge appears to be underway—not just on social media, but across music streaming platforms as well. Pakistani actors are vanishing from the promotional assets of Indian films, including iconic music albums. First Published:

Actor Prateik Smita Patil recently revealed why he chose not to invite his father, Raj Babbar, to his wedding with Priya Banerjee. Prateik, who got married in February this year, explained that it would have been 'unethical' to include his father and his family in the celebration, given the complicated history between his mother, Smita Patil, and Raj Babbar's wife, an interview with Times Now, the actor shared that because his wedding took place at his late mother's house, he felt it was 'unethical' to have his father in attendance. He further said, "My father's wife and my mother had some complications in the past. Lots of things have been said in the press and stuff like that if you dig out 38–40 years ago. I was open to doing something with my father and his family for another function. I just thought it was unethical to have him and his family at that house when, after everything had gone on between them. Absolutely, it wasn't right."He further explained, "I'm sorry my father and his wife could not be there, could not be in the house my mother bought for me to grow up and live a life as a single mother. She wanted to live in that house with me as a single mother. Bring me up. I'm sorry. That was the best decision my wife and I made."advertisement Prateik, who dropped 'Babbar' from his name earlier this year, clarified that "it wasn't about rejecting anyone. It was about respecting my mother and her wishes."During the same interview, Prateik also reacted to how his father's family reacted to not being invited. He said, "People are impulsive, people make impulsive choices and say things out of impulse, and it was just distasteful, and I think that bitter taste has remained. That bitter taste has remained.""The right thing to do was to do what we did and then if, obviously, now the circumstances are different, everything has gone South, and it's extremely complicated. But it's not for me. I'm still the same," Prateik Babbar married actor Nadira Babbar in 1975, and the couple had two children, Arya and Juhi. Prateik Babbar accepts there were complications between mom Smita Patil, dad Raj Babbar's wife Nadira: ‘Real reason why I didn't invite him to my wedding'

Actor Prateik Smita Patil tied the knot with girlfriend Priya Banerjee in February this year. However, what made headlines was the absence of his father, veteran actor Raj Babbar, and his half-siblings Aarya Babbar and Juhi Babbar from the ceremony. In a recent interaction, Prateik explained that since the wedding took place at his late mother Smita Patil's home, it would have been 'unethical' to invite his father's family due to the complicated history between Raj Babbar's wife, Nadira, and Smita Patil. During an interaction with Times Now, Prateik said, 'My father's wife and my mother had some complications in the past, lots of things have been said in the press and stuff like that if you dig out 38-40 years ago. I was open to doing something with my father and his family for another function. I just thought it was unethical to have him and his family at that house when after everything had went on between them. Absolutely, it wasn't right.' Prateik stressed that the decision was made to honour his mother, who raised him alone. He said, 'I'm sorry my father and his wife could not be there, could not be in the house my mother bought for me to grow up and live a life as a single mother. She wanted to live in that house with me as a single mother. Bring me up. I'm sorry. That was the best decision my wife and I made.' He added, 'It wasn't about rejecting anyone. It was about respecting my mother and her wishes.' The Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na actor also hinted at the reactions from Raj Babbar and his children after learning they were not invited. 'People are impulsive, people make impulsive choices and say things out of impulse and it was just distasteful and I think that bitter taste has remained. That bitter taste has remained,' he said. Prateik acknowledged that his decision had strained his relationship with his father and half-siblings. 'The right thing to do was to what we did and then if, obviously now circumstances are different, everything is gone South and it's extremely complicated. But it's not for me. I'm still the same,' he said. Raj Babbar was already married to Nadira Babbar and had two children, Aarya and Juhi, when he fell in love with fellow actor Smita Patil during the shooting of their 1982 film Bheegi Palkein. He left Nadira and secretly married Smita. The couple welcomed their son, Prateik, in November 1986. Tragically, Smita Patil passed away due to complications following childbirth. After her death, Raj Babbar reconciled with Nadira, and the two resumed their relationship.
