Woman held from Delhi for gold bangle theft at Jaipur store
1 2 Jaipur: City police Sunday arrested a woman from New Delhi for allegedly stealing gold bangles from a jewellery showroom located near Govt Hostel in Jaipur. DCP (south) Rajarshi Raj Varma identified the accused as Anju Chopra, 40, a resident of New Delhi. Her arrest was facilitated through the use of ICJS (Interoperable Criminal Justice System) and NATGRID (National Intelligence Grid), which helped trace her identity and location. According to Varma, showroom manager Bablu Kumar filed a complaint on June 18, stating that the theft occurred a day earlier, on June 17. A woman stole two bangles weighing 28 gram. The theft was captured on CCTV. "The accused would leave Delhi early in the morning by train, targeting jewellery stores in Jaipur. Stolen mobiles worth Rs 50L recovered, returned to owners
1 2 Jaipur: In one of the biggest recovery drives of the year, city police Wednesday handed over 262 stolen smartphones worth Rs 50 lakh to their rightful owners under a new campaign titled "Aapka Mobile, Phir Se Aapka" (Your Mobile, Yours Again). Most victims gave up hope long ago — their phones vanished from streets, buses, and market areas, taking with them not just contacts but also crucial documents. "I bought my phone on EMI and lost it three months ago. It contained my important ID documents," said a relieved owner. The campaign was started by DCP (South) Rajarshi Raj Varma, who told TOI that a special task force — drawing from the technical wing and police stations across South Jaipur — scoured mobile data from the past three years to track missing handsets. The breakthrough came through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, which allowed cops to access device tracking info from telecom providers. Using this tech trail, the teams traced the devices to various parts of Rajasthan — and some even beyond city limits. Among the 262 phones retrieved, police said several were resold in black markets or used under fake identities. Alongside the recoveries, police also arrested several accused, including repeat offenders from phone-snatching gangs. Officials said that a new crackdown is now underway to target networks involved in phone thefts — especially the snatch-and-run groups that have become increasingly brazen in crowded areas.
