Lucknow: Hailing the Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Science (UPSIFS) as a 'future milestone' for legal and forensic experts, Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan (Lucknow Bench, Allahabad high court) said in his valedictory address that UPSIFS would strengthen justice delivery and elevate India's standing on the world stage.
Speaking at the concluding event of the three-day International Summit at UPSIFS on Wednesday, Justice Rajiv Singh noted that the institute is already on par with leading global institutions and is shaping the modern dimensions of forensic science in the country.
Prof Amarpal Singh (vice-chancellor, RMLNLU) highlighted the growing gap between rapid technological advances and legal frameworks, terming it a 'technological overrun,' and stressed that the law must guide this transformation.
Meanwhile, NFSU, Delhi director Porvi Pokhariyal described cybercrime as a 'borderless crime,' citing India's Rs 23,000 crore losses and urging global cooperation, referring to the Budapest Convention and the upcoming UN Cybercrime Convention.
In his closing remarks, UPSIFS director GK Goswamy described forensic science as the 'microscope that reveals truth.' He added that science supplies tools, but law provides direction, making forensic education inseparable from legal understanding.
