Disciplinary panel warns Rajgopal over his diatribe against CM
Hyderabad: The Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) of the state unit of the Congress party on Sunday asked Munugode legislator Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy to mend his ways, with the committee chairman, Mallu Ravi, warning him that action would be initiated if the MLA continues to issue statements critical of the Chief Minister. A day after Pradesh Congress Committee president B Mahesh Kumar Goud referred the matter to the DAC, Nagarkurnool MP and committee's chairman Mallu Ravi deliberated the matter with the panel's members inGandhi Bhavan. He said that PCC chief on Saturday had an elaborate discussion with Rajagopal Reddy about his comments in question. He said that they discussed the possible options 'before the issue goes out of hand'. Accordingly, it was decided that 'the Committee should speak to him at this juncture and ask him not to repeat this', Mallu Ravi told the media, adding 'if this is repeated, action will definitely be taken against Rajagopal Reddy'. He hinted at potential disciplinary action, if the MLA persists in his diatribe. For the unversed, Rajgopal Reddy had expressed his displeasure with the Congress administration in Telangana, particularly regarding the allocation of funds to his constituency. He had alleged that funds were being diverted to the constituencies of key leaders and that Munugode was being neglected. His comments, made publicly during the Independence Day celebrations, raised eyebrows within the party and were construed as indirect criticism of the Chief Minister. On Saturday, the TPCC referred the issue over Rajgopal Reddy's remarks to the party's disciplinary committee, chaired by senior leader Mallu Ravi. Mahesh Kumar Goud then stated that the committee would examine the context of the MLA's statements before determining any further action. According to political analysts, Rajgopal Reddy's open expression of dissatisfaction with the party leadership, resulting in the involvement of the disciplinary committee headed by Mallu Ravi, signifies internal tensions within the Telangana Congress. Regarding resolution of differences among Warangal's top leaders, Mallu Ravi said that four party men would be sent to Warangal to analyse the ground situation. Their names will be finalised by the party high command. In the wake of allegations and counter allegations by Warangal's leaders, the party would be examining the responses from both the warring groups before arriving at a conclusion.

Amid Telangana Congress Infighting, MLA Speaks Of "Chief Minister's Approval"
Hyderabad: In a sharp escalation of infighting within the Telangana Congress, senior party leader and MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy mentioned Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's name while talking about bills not being cleared, adding at the same time that he was not criticising anyone. Speaking during the Independence Day celebrations in his constituency Munugode, Mr Rajgopal Reddy said, without naming anyone, "You take the posts, but do you also take the money? Take the positions, but pay the contractors who have done the work. Don't do injustice to the people of Munugode." He continued, "The contractor refuses to continue work on the Veligonda-Choutuppal road project because bills have not been cleared. These clearances require the chief minister's approval. That is why I raised this concern directly to him. I am not criticising either the chief minister or the party... Not a single rupee has been released for roads or buildings. Even after repeated requests and numerous attempts to approach ministers, there has been no response. Should I not question whether posts and funds are being monopolised?" The MLA has been speaking out against the state leadership of the party recently, but his direct remarks on chief minister Revanth Reddy have caused unease within Congress circles. Mr Rajgopal Reddy, whose elder brother Komatireddy Venkat Reddy is a senior Telangana minister, was hoping to get a ministerial berth in the recent cabinet reshuffle. The Congress's state disciplinary action committee has also taken note of Mr Rajgopal Reddy's comments and its chairman, Mallu Ravi, is set to meet him. Earlier on Friday, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had also taken an indirect swipe at Mr Rajagopal Reddy. "In politics, out of ten people who want to sit on the same chair, nine will be disappointed. Whether they are from a family, caste, region, or you will show disappointment... It could cause harm to you, us, the state and nation," the chief minister said.

Rajgopal Reddy's hands-on approach to civic service
Munugodu (Nalgonda): Local Rajgopal Reddy's hands-on approach to civic serviceMLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy toured streets in Anthampet village of the newly formed Gattuppal Mandal to understand the problems of villagers first-hand. He inaugurated sanctioned Indiramma houses by performing coconut-breaking rituals. He promised to secure homes in the second phase for eligible poor families who were left out in the first list. Visiting the hut of Ramulu, a daily-wage earner, he assured to build him a house, covering the remaining cost beyond the Rs 5 lakh government grant. Observing power lines passing over homes, he instructed the electricity AE to remove loose and unsafe 11KV lines immediately. Rajgopal Reddy also inspected roadworks between Anthampet to Devulathanda, Rajyathanda, and Namapuram. He said that welfare schemes should reach the deserving, beyond politics. The difficult task of keeping everyone happy
The recent Cabinet expansion in Telangana reflects the Congress's promised commitment to social justice. By inducting three Ministers — Gaddam Vivek and Adluri Laxman from the Scheduled Caste (SC) group and Vakiti Srihari from the Backward Classes (BC) group — as well as leaders from socially and economically backward communities for various posts, the party has attempted to realign its power structure to better represent historically marginalised groups. However, this has not come without friction, particularly from the dominant Reddy community, which feels ignored despite its numerical and political clout in the Assembly. Of the seven BC MLAs in the Congress, three have been given Cabinet posts and two have been appointed as chief whip and whip. Among Ministers, Ponnam Prabhakar is from the Goud community, Konda Surekha belongs to the Padmashali community (with her husband hailing from the Munnuru Kapu community), and Vakiti Srihari comes from the Mudiraj caste. Pradesh Congress Committee chief A. Mahesh Kumar Goud is a Goud from the BC community. BCs enjoy more representation not just in the Cabinet, but also in key political roles. Additionally, with the inclusion of Mr. Vivek and Mr. Laxman, the number of SC leaders in the Cabinet has increased to four. They are split equally between the Mala and Madiga sub-groups. This balance is critical in a State where internal divisions within SC communities have influenced political equations, particularly the Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, a Mala, holds the Finance portfolio, while former Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Raja Narsimha holds the Health portfolio. Despite this progressive outlook, Congress has triggered dissatisfaction within its largest and historically most influential support base, the Reddy community. In the 119-member Assembly, 43 MLAs are from the Reddy community. Within the Congress, 26 of the 64 MLAs are from the Reddy community. Those who have been left out include strong aspirants such as Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, P. Sudarshan Reddy, T. Rammohan Reddy, and Malreddy Ranga Reddy. Mr. Rajgopal Reddy, who played a key role in boosting the Congress's prospects by jumping ship from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) before the elections, feels particularly aggrieved, especially since his political ally, Vivek Venkatswamy, was inducted into the Cabinet. Both leaders were promised a berth. When Mr. Rajgopal Reddy, Mr. Venkatswamy, and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) entered the Congress at around the same time, it created the perception that the BJP was losing ground and that the Congress was the only alternative to the BRS. No one can deny impact of these leaders on the overall performance of the party even though Revanth Reddy, who was then PCC chief, strongly built an anti-BRS narrative. The BJP, which was looking strong, lost steam when Mr. Rajgopal Reddy and Mr. Venkatswamy exited the party at a crucial juncture. Mr. Rajgopal Reddy's brother, Komatireddy Venkata Reddy, is a Minister and hails from Nalgonda — a Reddy bastion. While being progressive in its politics, the Congress would also do well in ensuring that its traditional support base, the Reddy community, is kept happy. While the Congress's caste arithmetic may have worked, the representation of regional and minority members leaves much to be desired. Key districts such as Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, and Nizamabad have gone not represented in the Cabinet. Muslims, and Lambadas among the tribal communities, have also been left out. There is no Muslim MLA in the Congress fold. The party has only one Muslim MLC, Amer Ali Khan. To bridge this gap, Congress is considering fielding a Muslim candidate from Jubilee Hills in the coming by-election. The names of Mohd Azharuddin, a cricketer, and Faheem Qureshi, a confidante of the Chief Minister, are being floated. To compensate for the absence of the Lambada community, the Chief Minister nominated Ram Chander Naik, an MLA from Dornakal, as Deputy Speaker. This complements the appointment of Gaddam Prasad Kumar, a Dalit, as Speaker. As a result, Telangana is perhaps the only State where both the presiding officers of the Assembly belong to the SC and ST communities, respectively.
