Trial run of 4.5km-long freight train held from UP to Latehar

Ramgarh/Daltonganj: The East Central Railways (ECR) on Friday carried out a successful trial run of a 4.5 km-long freight train from Uttar Pradesh to a railway siding in a coal mine in the state. Named 'Rudra-Astra', the freight train had 354 box wagons and was pulled by seven locomotive engines. It chugged off from the Ganjkhwaja railway station under the Deen Dayal Upadhyay railway division in Uttar Pradesh and covered 401 kms at a speed of 40 km an hour, officials said. Rajhans Singh, divisional traffic manager of ECR at Barkakana, termed the trial run a success. "It was a combination of six normal freight trains consisting of 59 wagons each. This will go a long way in revolutionising coal carriage," he said. The train travelled up to Sheopur coal siding in the border of Latehar and Lohardaga districts through Nabinagar, Japla, Garhwa, Daltonganj, Barwadih, Latehar, and Tori. "It will go a long way in improving logistic efficiency, freight loading and reducing overall rake turnaround and transit time as Dhanbad division has been at the top in the country in terms of earning revenue with freight train operation for the last four consecutive financial years," Singh said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Most Luxurious Hotels in the World Learn More Undo Railway officials in Tori said the train travelled up to Garhwa Road railway station and onwards to Phulbasiya coal siding on Friday night, where 118 wagons were broken.
