Diamond trader staged own abduction: Police report

Pune: Bibvewadi police on Saturday submitted a B Summary report to the court, stating that the diamond trader (35) of Bibvewadi and his wife staged the abduction of the diamond trader on March 3 this year. The summary report was submitted after thoroughly investigating the abduction case, which revealed that it was a misleading case. According to the police, the wife of the trader called the police control room and informed them that she received a call from a person speaking in Hindi, claiming that he abducted her husband and demanded Rs 2 crore in ransom for his release. Police traced the trader's scooter to the Navle Bridge area and it was noted that he was alone on his scooter as per the CCTV footage of the area. He then boarded a private bus and reached Mumbai, according to the police. After four days, the trader returned to Pune and presented himself before the police. Shinde said, "The trader had borrowed over Rs 1 crore from six businessmen. He was not in a position to return the money. He decided not to return the money and the couple decided to stage his abduction."
