Govt implements ₹3,000 FASTag pass for private vehicles
State-owned NHAI has implemented the FASTag annual pass across the country from Friday to encourage the use of technology to enhance 'ease of living' for the citizens, according to an official statement. The statement said the annual pass has received an overwhelming response from the national highway users. "Till 4:30 p.m. on the first day of the implementation, around 1.2 lakh users purchased and activated the annual pass and about 1.24 lakh transactions were recorded on toll plazas," it added. The introduction of the annual pass facility will not only enhance the FASTag user experience but also make journeys on the National Highways and Expressways more economical and seamless, it added.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has successfully implemented the 'FASTag Annual Pass' facility at about 1,150 toll plazas on National Highways and Expressways across the country. The annual pass has received an overwhelming response from the National Highway users, according to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Till 7:00 pm on the first day of implementation on August 15, around 1.4 lakh users purchased and activated the annual pass and around 1.39 lakh transactions were recorded on toll plazas. Around 20,000-25,000 concurrent users are using Rajmargyatra App at any point of time and annual pass users are receiving SMS messages for zero deduction of toll fee, according to the NHAI. "NHAI officials and Nodal officers have been appointed on each toll plaza to ensure a smooth travel experience for the pass users. NHAI is addressing queries of the pass users through various channels. Also, to address the grievances of pass users, 1033 National Highway Helpline has been further strengthened with the addition of over 100 executives," said the highways authority. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways ' ( MoRTH ) newly launched FASTag annual pass has seen an overwhelming response, with nearly 1.4 lakh users purchasing and activating it on the very first day, the National Highways Authority of India ( NHAI ) said on Friday, Economic Times reported. Rolled out on Independence Day across 1,150 toll plazas on national highways and expressways, the ₹3,000 annual pass allows non-commercial vehicle owners to travel toll-free for a year or 200 crossings, whichever comes earlier. The facility is activated within two hours of payment and aims to cut down on frequent recharges while offering commuters seamless travel. 'The annual pass has received an overwhelming response from highway users. On the first day of implementation, around 1.39 lakh transactions were recorded at toll plazas,' NHAI said. At any given time, 20,000–25,000 concurrent users are active on the Rajmargyatra App, with pass holders receiving SMS alerts confirming zero toll deductions. To support the rollout, NHAI has deployed nodal officers at toll plazas and strengthened its 1033 National Highway helpline . Officials said the scheme will further improve travel efficiency, ease of living, and user experience on highways. FASTag penetration currently stands at 98 per cent, with more than 80 million users nationwide, making electronic toll collection the backbone of India's highway network.
