Newly wed woman killed in accident in Bengaluru, grandmother dies on hearing news
A 23-year-old homemaker, married around three months ago, died, and her husband sustained minor injuries after their two-wheeler came under a multi-axle truck on the Outer Ring Road near Laggere, Rajajinagar, Friday evening.
The deceased is S Geeta, a resident of Malleshwaram. Her husband, Sunil Kumar, a pani-puri vendor, is recovering from his injuries in a hospital, police said. Geeta's paternal grandmother, Rakamma died of suspected cardiac arrest Saturday, after hearing Geeta's death, sources said. Geeta's father Byralingaiah who lives in Kengeri, hails from Virupasandra village in Channapatna in Ramanagar, Bengaluru South district.
According to him, Rakamma was told about the tragedy late Friday night. Rakamma, who was weeping uncontrollably, collapsed Saturday morning. She was taken to Channapatna govt hospital where the doctors declared her brought dead.
"Geeta's body has reached our ancestral home in Channapatna this afternoon. We are burying Geeta and my mother in our farm land," Byralingaiah told media persons.

The truck driver was arrested on charges of causing death due to negligence, and his vehicle was seized, police said.

According to police, Sunil and Geeta visited the latter's parents in Kengeri to celebrate the Varamahalakshmi festival Friday and were riding back when the accident took place.
"Along with public help, we shifted both to a nearby private hospital where Geeta succumbed," an investigating officer said.
