Johor cops ready to maintain security during PKR national congress, says police chief
JOHOR BARU: Johor police have taken the necessary steps to uphold safety and security during the three-day PKR national congress, which will start on Thursday (May 22).
State police chief Comm Datuk M. Kumar said that the congress would be held in several locations such as Persada International Convention Centre, Berjaya Waterfront Hotel and Danga Bay Convention Centre.
'On top of that, there will also be the Rakyat Madani Programme held at Toppen Shopping Centre on this Friday (May 23),' he said after attending a blood donation campaign held at Johor police headquarters in conjunction with 218th Police Day here on Tuesday (May 20).
Comm Kumar also added that more than 10,000 delegates, including ministers, were expected to attend the PKR national congress held here during the period.
'Johor police will be carrying out a total deployment during the event held at the three locations to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow.
'There will not be any road closure during the congress, but I urged road users, especially those going and within the city area, to practise patience as there might be some minor traffic congestion,' he said.
Comm Kumar added that besides the PKR national congress, Johor police also deployed some of its assets and personnel to provide security assistance in the ongoing Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2025 (Lima '25) and the upcoming 46th Asean Summit held in Kuala Lumpur.
'Despite being involved in three major events, including the congress held here, Johor police operation will not be affected at all, where public order and safety are our top priority,' he said.
