Isro inspires youth with space tech event

Varanasi: A programme was held under the aegis of the UR Rao Satellite Centre (URSC) and Electro Optics System Laboratory, Bengaluru, in collaboration with the Geophysics dept, (BHU) at BHU on Friday as a part of Indian Space Research Organisation's (Isro) initiative to connect youth with space technology ahead of National Space Day to be celebrated on Aug 23. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Associate director, URSC, Isro, Ramanagouda V Nadagouda emphasised that the development of space technology in India was initiated for for communication and broadcasting and not attack or defence. He further highlighted that the space technology market has the potential of Rs 40 lakh crore and 3 crore job opportunities. Vice-chancellor BHU prof Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi congratulated Isro for reaching out to students and their notable achievements. He stressed that the more children and youth are inspired, the more talent will step into the field of space technology. Director, Master Control Facility, Isro, Pankaj D Killedar, elaborated on Isro's achievements, stating that India has so far played a significant role in launching 438 satellites for 34 countries. Director, Human Space Flight Centre, Isro, DK Singh, gave a detailed presentation on space systems. Prof Gyan Prakash Singh, HoD of Geophysics, BHU, welcomed the guests and dignitaries. In the second session of the event, M Shambayya gave a presentation on 'space propulsion.' A 'quiz competition' was also organised by Shashank S of U RSC, Isro.
