Kodagu SP reviews preparations for Ganesha fest in Virajpet
Madikeri: Ahead of the Ganesh Chaturthi , Kodagu SP Ramarajan on Tuesday reviewed the preparations in Virajpet. He participated in a meeting with the organisers of Ganeshotsava and advised them to celebrate the Ganesha festival in a traditional manner. The SP assured that the request of the auto drivers to let them ply on the city main roads until 7am on Ganeshotsava day, would be considered and appropriate arrangements would be made. He instructed officials to inspect the drain covers along the procession route and ensure proper safety measures. Traffic arrangements were discussed in detail at the meeting. Temporary diversions will be implemented during the procession, and parking zones will be designated at major points, the cops told the meeting. Police will be stationed at key junctions to manage traffic flow, they explained. The meeting also addressed waste management during the festival. Local authorities will place additional bins at strategic points, and committees must ensure proper disposal of flowers and decorative. Health officials present at the meeting outlined Covid-19 precautionary measures to be followed during the festivities. Kodagu police intensify disaster preparedness
1 2 Madikeri: Kodagu SP Ramarajan said Kodagu district is likely to receive heavy rainfall in July after record rainfall in June. He convened a meeting with PSIs, CPIs, and DSPs in the district to discuss preparedness to tackle rain-related disasters. He stated that the cops started identifying volunteers in their respective police station limits and village jurisdictions and police station-level meetings are being held to brief volunteers on emergency protocols and public safety measures. The cops are also documenting available emergency vehicles, equipment like earthmovers and operator details. He asked interested volunteers to register at Kodagu district police office (8277958444), which will be forwarded to local stations for coordination. This follows a rise in workers from northeastern states arriving in Kodagu district for labour, raising concerns about possible Bangladeshi infiltrators among them. Involvement of labourers from northeastern states in some criminal incidents prompted police to request public vigilance.
