Child dies in suspected JE case in Dindori
Bhopal/Jabalpur: A six-year-old child died in Dindori in a suspected case of death due to Japanese Encephalitis, which hasn't been reported in more than five years in MP.
Health officials say the first lab report indicates the case to be a presumptive JE case.
It is only confirmed as JE after a second test, but the child died before the second test, hence it cannot be confirmed.
A six-year-old boy, a resident of Bahera village under Amarpur development block of Dindori district, was admitted to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College. He died during treatment on Aug 10. As he had symptoms of JE, laboratory tests were done. The first report confirmed him to be 'presumptive' positive. Chief medical and health officer, Dindori, Dr Ramesh Marawi, said, "Two samples are tested, but only one sample of this child was tested. As soon as I get any instructions, we will follow the required protocols like screening, etc."
