Woman charged in deadly shooting plans to plead guilty
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – A woman charged in connection with a deadly Sioux Falls shooting plans to plead guilty. Police arrested Savannah Lee Randle, 33, following a shooting in Aug. 2024 involving juveniles and a stolen gun inside her home on West 7th Street. Local photographer reflects on SculptureWalk legacy The 911 caller said one of the teens shot himself, but detectives later determined that wasn't the case. Court documents say a teenager was playing with a stolen 9mm handgun, when it went off and sent a bullet into another teenager's head. Randle initially faced a dozen felony charges, including child abuse and accessory to a felony. On Monday, she's scheduled to plead guilty to contributing to the delinquency of a minor and misprision of a felony, which are both misdemeanors. In exchange for her guilty plea, all of the felony charges will be dismissed. Her petition to plead guilty says she could face one year behind bars for each of the charges. Police also arrested a juvenile in connection with the deadly shooting, but authorities haven't released information on that case because of the suspect's age. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Julius Randle Says It Was Exhausting To Play In New York: "You're Living And Dying With Every Single Shot"
Julius Randle's departure from the New York Knicks marked more than just a trade; it was a release. After six emotionally taxing years in Madison Square Garden, Randle admitted what many had long suspected: the grind of playing under the New York spotlight was mentally and emotionally draining. "It ain't fun, it ain't fun. You can't really focus on the game, you're focused on everything else other than the game itself. You're living and dying with every single shot, every single turnover, every single loss. It's not a fun way to play. It's exhausting.' Advertisement The pressure cooker that is New York City basketball became an overwhelming environment for Randle, who arrived in 2019 after the Knicks struck out on Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. For years, Randle became the face of a franchise constantly under scrutiny, serving as both hero and scapegoat depending on the night. Every missed shot or slumped shoulder became fodder for media breakdowns and fan backlash. Despite being a three-time All-Star during his Knicks tenure, Randle's every move was dissected. It didn't help that his playoff performances, particularly during the 2021 and 2023 postseason runs, were less than stellar, reinforcing a narrative that he couldn't deliver when it mattered most. That stigma has been shattered in Minnesota. Advertisement Now a key cog in the Timberwolves' Western Conference Finals run, Randle is playing his most balanced basketball, physically and emotionally. He's averaging 21.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists in the postseason on nearly 50% shooting, anchoring Minnesota alongside Anthony Edwards. More importantly, he's playing with a sense of liberation that was rarely visible in New York. It's a remarkable turnaround for a player once criticized for being too emotionally reactive. In Minnesota, surrounded by a more balanced locker room and a system that embraces his strengths, Randle has found peace and productivity. He's leaned into a leadership role, mentoring younger teammates, staying vocal even while injured, and committing to the gritty, team-first basketball that defines the Wolves' identity. Advertisement Even former rivals are taking note. Draymond Green, whose intense second-round battle with Randle helped define the Wolves-Warriors series, openly stated that Randle won the matchup. Randle also outmuscled LeBron James and the Lakers in the first round, showcasing the physical dominance he always had, but now with emotional composure to match. For Randle, the shift wasn't just physical. It was spiritual. He may not be in the media capital anymore, but Julius Randle has never looked more at home. "A Miniature LeBron James": Julius Randle's Role Next To Anthony Edwards, Per NBA Insider
Julius Randle has been critical in the Timberwolves' run to the Western Conference Finals after stepping up on repeated occasions to become an additional lethal offensive threat for opponents other than Anthony Edwards. Since his trade for Karl-Anthony Towns, Timberwolves fans have always wondered whether they made the right decision. However, these Playoffs seem to have proven that trading for Randle was the right fit for this team. While discussing Julius Randle's role on the Timberwolves, ESPN's NBA insider Brian Windhorst compared him to a miniature version of the Lakers' superstar LeBron James. Advertisement Windhorst appeared on ESPN's NBA Today segment and said, 'I want to tell you about this last series he played with the Warriors. He averaged 25, 7, and 7. 6ft 9 point forward, averaging those kinds of numbers, who does that remind you of? How about LeBron James?" Windhorst further added, "He's acting like a miniature LeBron James in this postseason, being a force with his size. Being able to be a playmaker, being able to play different roles on offence, and different roles on defence. Creating all kinds of havoc with what he's able to do with the ball while he gets in that triple-threat position. This type of player, next to Ant, is what's taking the Wolves to the next level. The reason that they are here is because of the way they played down the stretch. And the way they played down the stretch was because of how Randle was able to come back from injury and bond with Anthony Edwards, that is what has them live as a real championship contender." Assessing Julius Randle's Performance In The Playoffs During his time with the Knicks, Randle led them to the Playoffs twice in his career. In the 15 games he played in the Playoffs as a Knicks player, he averaged 17.1 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. Moreover, he never went beyond the second round of the Playoffs. Advertisement However, in the Playoffs this season, Randle has been on a heater. This season, his post-season scoring average saw a steep rise while his rebounding numbers have fallen. He averaged 23.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 5.9 assists in 10 games played so far in these Playoffs. While this is nowhere close to James' playoff career averages (28.4 points, 9.0 rebounds and 7.2 assists in 292 games played), his impact on the Timberwolves has agreeably been similar to James. One of the key reasons for this is the change in his role with the Timberwolves than what he was doing with the Knicks. He was the primary rebounder on that team and couldn't focus on scoring. With Rudy Gobert and Jaden McDaniels managing the rebounding duties for the Timberwolves, Randle is free to focus on scoring instead of just gathering the rebounds. This change has helped Randle and Edwards make the Timberwolves a real threat to be title contenders this season. Related: Wild Data Exposes Shai Gilgeous-Alexander In Comparison To Anthony Edwards

Lonzo Ball Blames Lakers For Disrespecting Julius Randle
The Lakers were stacked with talent like Julius Randle, Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and more. They gave most of them away in the trade for Anthony Davis. However, they chose not to extend Julius Randle after what now seems to have been a bitter contention between the coaching staff and the power forward. Lonzo Ball, who was teammates with Randle at the Lakers, has now come forward with some inside details on his role in the Lakers' relationship with Randle. He recorded his podcast where he said: Advertisement 'One of the craziest things I've ever heard in my life, when I was on that team [Lakers]. They sat us all down early in the season in the locker room, went through everybody's roles, and sh** they got to Ju[lius,] they talking about just rebound and set screens, nothing else. I'm like "What the f**k?" So then I'm like, Nah, I low-key spoke up. I'm talking about nah like he one of our best players, he only n**** that can do everything like what the f***? And then after that sh**, that's when we got cool after that. But nah, they were disrespecting him crazy in LA, bro, and now look what he's doing now. So I'm definitely uh happy to see him doing his thing.' What Did Julius Randle Do After He Left The Lakers The Lakers decided not to extend Julius Randle's contract, ending his four-year stint with them in 2018. After leaving the Lakers, he signed with the Pelicans. He then entered free agency and went to the Knicks in 2019. In a blockbuster trade in October 2024, Randle was then traded to the Timberwolves with Donte DiVincenzo for Karl-Anthony Towns. Randle has currently been pivotal in the Timberwolves' run to the Western Conference Finals for the second time in consecutive seasons. Randle has averaged 21.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists in 14 games in the 2025 playoffs. He played well in games 1 and 3 of their Western Conference Finals (WCF) series with 28 and 24 points, respectively. However, he struggled to produce anything in games 2 and 4 with 6 and 5 points, respectively. Advertisement Randle's contributions had so far been a boon for the Timberwolves to put away the Lakers and the Warriors in five games each. He averaged 23.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 5.9 assists in those 10 games. However, his inconsistency against the Thunder could cost the Timberwolves their series as they went down 1-3 after a 126-128 defeat in Game 4 of the WCF. Were the Lakers right in giving Randle away for basically nothing except some free cap space? Or has he proven them wrong yet?
