Two-year-old debutants ready to reign in the rain at Warwick Farm
A group of exciting two-year-old debutants are set to steal the show in the wet at Wednesday's Warwick Farm meeting. And with most having trialled well on rain-affected ground, the 1100m Maiden Hcp sprint could quickly emerge as a strong juvenile form reference heading towards winter. While the worst of the relentless rain has seemingly headed north, intermittent falls through Tuesday and Wednesday will keep the track in the heavy range, with the rail true. Certainly, stables have planned for such trying conditions, with most races dominated in early markets by runners very adept in heavy going. Leading the line-up of first-starters is exciting Randwick-based filly Nazwah, which opens her career behind two progressive trials. A talented daughter of 2016 Golden Slipper winner Capitalist in the Peter Snowden stable, Nazwah had trialled strongly, cruising home to win the most recent in soft ground nearly four weeks ago after travelling wide in the run. Jockey Regan Bayliss stays aboard for her debut. But the challengers are likely to come thick and fast. Change My Address, a filly by powerhouse sprinter Exceedance in the John Sargent yard, also makes her debut behind two smart trials, winning the latest in heavy ground by nearly four lengths. Also likely to attract market support on debut is Marinera, a filly by prolific wet-track sire Exceed And Excel, and trained by Bjorn Baker, which has won both lead-up trials. While Dundeel colt Master Of The Air is a big market watch resuming off a strong heavy-track trial for the Chris Waller stable. Loading

Pelosa poised to kick-start campaign for O'Shea at Wyong
A promising Randwick-based filly is on a payback mission, and a potential trip north for bigger targets if she salutes at Thursday's Wyong meeting. Pelosa, a smart three-year-old daughter of prolific sire Russian Revolution in the John O'Shea and Tom Charlton yard, tackles a benchmark 64 handicap for fillies over 1350m. It comes after she was very stiff not to win on Anzac Day charging home late from well back to miss by a whisker third-up on the Kensington track after being well backed from a high of $4.40 into $3.50. Pelosa took a long time to hit top gear that day, and stewards later confirmed she had begun awkwardly and lost valuable early ground. She now returns to provincial company nearly five weeks after announcing her potential by thrashing a handy maiden field at Hawkesbury. Sparingly raced since debuting at Kembla more than a year ago, Pelosa draws wide with Andrew Adkins in the saddle, but has a natural liking for settling off speed and getting to the outside late. She opened a narrow $3.20 favourite in early betting ahead of Super Nui ($3.50) with a big gap to the next runners around $8.50 and longer. Connections will also be buoyed by the drying track, with a Soft 6 rating through Wednesday likely to reach a Soft 5 by the time the meeting gets underway. The O'Shea-Charlton stable will be hoping Pelosa is the first half of a double winning strike to close the meeting.

Race-by-race preview and tips for Thursday meeting at Wagga Wagga
Track Soft 5 and rail True Race 1 2. Buckeye, a Randwick-based colt by Zousain, can claim a very competitive battle for the two-year-olds third-up in his first full prep. Hit the line to miss narrowly when fresh at Scone in heavy ground before failing to run home in a deeper provincial race. Much better suited here, drawn to get to the outside of runners, and any rain is a bonus. 5. Wonderful Mistake has to get across from a wide barrier, but is primed after twice finishing a half-length from the winner at Canberra, the latest 13 days ago as a well-backed favourite. 1. Deekaygeebee is a lightly raced Victorian and over the odds after scoring a smart win here 18 days ago. How to play it: Buckeye to win Race 2 3. Riverbend Unicorn is an honest and improving local four-year-old who represents outstanding value, resuming off a four-month spell in a tricky race. Has placed five times from seven starts, draws to get a soft run inside, and fitted to run this trip out off a solid 1000m trial on the Riverside track. 5. Doc March is also trained here, and a natural improver after rushing home late to beat all bar the winner second-up, but still shapes under the odds jumping from a wide gate. 1. Dita Von is also trained on the track and hasn't missed a place in four consecutive runs, chasing home a smart one at Albury a week ago, but is also drawn wide. 9. Hot Toddy is desperate for this longer trip third-up. 11. Deebaa at her third start, and 16. Cinephile deep into the prep; can both add plenty of value into wider exotics. How to play it: Riverbend Unicorn to win Race 3 It doesn't get any easier here in a wide maiden sprint, with a few key first starters on show. One of them 4. Explosive Style, a five-year-old mare by Carravaggio, makes the trip over the border and is ready to strike on debut. Careered away to win a trial on the Riverside track here a fortnight ago, and is bred for speed on both sides. 1. Brucedale is a local three-year-old by Shaft on debut in winkers off a handy trial, but draws wide. 3. Der Blaue Reiter is a lightly raced improver, and over the odds second-up coming through that same Federal Maiden in Canberra as one of the better chances in the opening race. How to play it: Explosive Style to win Race 4 7. Due Calzini is a progressive three-year-old well-placed to claim a second career win coming back in class and depth third-up. Did his best work late from the back when resuming in a BM 58 after being backed from $3.70 into $3.00 before catching the eye again running home late in the deeper Guineas Prelude here run at BM 65 level. Again drawn to drift back, but that run tops him off nicely for the step up to a mile, and will carry 1kg less. 6. Dubai Warrior is a big threat, hitting peak fitness fourth-up with gear changes from the inside draw, and dropping significantly in grade from his last two. Keep safe 8. Jamacri, a Warwick Farm-based mare, who also has claims dropping back sharply in distance fourth-up, with blinkers being added. How to play it: Due Calzini to win
