Hernandez wins second election for Winona ISD school board seat
WINONA, Texas (KETK) – Winona ISD's second election for Board of Trustees Place 3 has a winner after the district's first election on May 3 ended in a tie. UPDATE: Winona ISD school board candidates address voters ahead of second election The challenger, Luis Hernandez, has won the seat with 244 votes against incumbent Randy Hawkins' 181 votes, according to unofficial Smith County election results. Hernandez and the incumbent Hawkins first ran against each other for the seat in the May 3 election but that election resulted in a rare tie where both candidates got 137 votes. After a recount confirmed the equal vote counts, Winona ISD moved to schedule a second election on Saturday, which Hernandez has now won. Hernandez ran on expanding the district's athletic programs and implementing a 3-year, 5-year or a 10-year plan. Winona ISD second election early voting starting soon
WINONA, Texas (KETK) – Early voting in Winona ISD's second election for board of trustees place 3 will begin next week after their first election for the seat ended in a tie. UPDATE: Winona ISD school board holds meeting to discuss second election Starting on Tuesday, May 27, residents can vote from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Friday, May 30 and then on Monday, June 2 and Tuesday, June 3. Residents in the district can vote at the Winona Community Center at 520 Dallas St. and at the Smith County Elections Office at 302 E. Ferguson St. in Tyler. The second election comes after both candidates, Randy Hawkins and Luis Hernandez, both received 137 votes in the May 3 election. Hart County man killed in crash on KY-88
MUNFORDVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — A man from Horse Cave was killed in a crash on KY-88 on Friday morning. According to a news release, Kentucky State Police (KSP) got a call just after 6 a.m. on Friday saying that someone had been killed in a crash on the 5100 block of Cub Run Highway. An initial investigation showed that a 2015 Ford F-150 driven by Randy Hawkins, 44, of Cub Run, was on the highway when he allegedly crossed the center line, hitting a 2010 Nissan Maxima driven by Jordan Pippin, 26, of Horse Cave.
