India's biggest flop film, made for Rs 180 crore, failed to even earn Rs. 3 crores on the first day, film is..., lead actor was... In the unpredictable world of Bollywood, fame is always fleeting. While on one Friday, an actor would be hailed and winning hearts of the audience, the next Friday everything would change, and they might vanish into thin air like they never existed. In this industry, the career of a star changes every week; sometimes, even the biggest stars who have already gathered stardom with their previous work struggle to hold the audience's attention and can falter if their destiny doesn't align. One such tale is of a film that featured Akshay Kumar in the lead. Directed by Ranjit M. Tiwari and produced by a team including Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani, and Nikhil Advani, this film attempted to make a bold move by being the first major Bollywood star film to be released during the devastating time of the pandemic. During the second wave of COVID-19, the film 'Bell Bottom' hit the theaters only to fail horribly at the box office. This spy thriller film was released on 19th August 2021. It was made on a whopping budget of Rs. 180 crores but it failed horribly at the box office, accounting a collection of just Rs. 2.75 crores, on its opening day and Rs. ₹30.63 crore in India and ₹50.58 crore worldwide, over its theatrical run, an unexpectedly low budget for a film featuring Bollywood's most hailed star. Although the film was released during this time to reignite the struggling theatre business, its attempt went in disdain, making it a hard pill to swallow for Akshay Kumar fans. Blending a mix of everything that accounts for a good film, the plot of the movie revolved around the real-life hijacking of an Indian Airlines flight in 1984. Akshay Kumar portrayed the character of a RAW agent who goes on a high-risk mission to rescue hostages. The film also featured a star-studded cast with Lara Dutta portraying the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Vaani Kapoor playing the wife of the lead with Huma Qureshi, Adil Hussain, and Anirudh Dave in supporting roles. Although the film wasn't received well at the box office, it is now streaming on Amazon Prime and has received a reasonable rating of 6.1 on IMDb.
