Ras Al Khaimah Launches New Orange Bus Route for Faster Urban Transit

The new route links major areas to the city centre in under 30 minutes, with 20 daily trips and AED 8 fares. Apr 24, 2025 Ras Al Khaimah has launched a new public bus service—the Orange Route—to improve city-wide mobility and strengthen links between major residential and commercial districts. Operated by Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA), the 13-kilometre route connects Al Nakheel to Al Dhait South's main bus station, passing through eight stops including Julphar Towers, Al Mamourah, and Flamingo Beach. With a trip duration of 25 to 30 minutes, the Orange Route is designed to reduce commuter wait times and ease congestion by offering frequent service throughout the day. The buses operate 20 times daily, running from 6:30 AM to 8:30 PM. Each ride is priced at AED 8, with fares payable through smart cards or contactless payment methods. The initiative is part of RAKTA's broader strategy to expand internal public transit and promote sustainable mobility across the emirate. With the addition of the Orange Route, Ras Al Khaimah's total public transport network now covers 99 kilometres. Officials note that the new line also integrates with inter-emirate routes, improving connections between Ras Al Khaimah and the wider UAE.

New bus route in Ras Al Khaimah to reduce travel time, improve connectivity

Ras Al Khaimah has launched a new city bus route — the Orange Route —which aims to cover and connect all urban areas to the city centre. This new route will reduce the bus headway time, impacting the overall journey duration for users. This route extends from the Al Nakheel area to the Main Bus Station in South Al Dhait, passing through several key locations in the city centre. The Orange Route journey will take between 25 to 30 minutes one way, and includes 8 main stops: Al Nakheel, Julphar Towers, Al Sadaf Roundabout, Driving School, Post Office, Clock Roundabout, Flamingo Beach, and the Main Bus Station in Al Dhait south. The route will operate 20 trips per day, with the first trip starting at 6:30am and the last trip at 8:30pm. The ticket fare is Dh8 per trip. The new route spans 13km, bringing the total length of the internal public transport network in the Emirate to 99km. The launch of the Orange Route aims to strengthen the transportation system in the Emirate, encouraging the use of public transport and facilitating the movement of passengers through an affordable service that is accessible to all. This new addition will also support the integration of public transport modes and ensure smooth and seamless travel across the emirate by linking all four main routes in Ras Al Khaimah. The Orange Route is an extension of the internal transport network previously launched by Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) and is designed to expand geographical coverage and enhance service accessibility — ultimately enhancing the commute and aligning with the expectations of public transport users.
