Lebanon, Jordan reopen airspace after flights suspension due to Iranian strikes

Iran launches retaliatory attack on Israel with hundreds of drones, missiles - REUTERS CAIRO - 14 jUNE 2025: Lebanese Minister of Public Works and Transport Fayez Rasamni, in coordination with the Directorate of Civil Aviation, announced the reopening of Lebanese airspace at 10:00 a.m. this Saturday. Rasamni expressed his deep apologies to arriving and departing passengers, stressing that the decision and accompanying exceptional measures were imposed due to purely security necessities, and that the safety of passengers and air facilities remains a top priority, according to the Lebanese National News Agency. In this context, Middle East Airlines (MEA) will reschedule its flights according to the new schedule and will issue a detailed statement in this regard as soon as possible. Lebanese carrier Middle East Airlines also announced today, Saturday, the suspension of its incoming flights to Beirut until further notice, due to the continued closure of Lebanese airspace. MEA reported the cancellation of all 20 of its flights departing from Beirut that departed before noon today, noting that passengers will be informed regarding flights departing in the afternoon in light of developments. The Civil Aviation Directorate announced last Friday evening the closure of Lebanese airspace starting yesterday evening until 6:00 a.m. today, based on the directives of the Minister of Public Works and Transport, Fayez Rasamni, according to the German News Agency. Separately, the Chairman of the Board of Directors announced The Commissioner of the Jordanian Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission, Captain Haitham Misto, announced the reopening of Jordanian airspace as of Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. local time. The Commission had announced the temporary closure of Jordanian airspace and the suspension of all air traffic to all aircraft arriving, departing, and transiting through the Kingdom, in anticipation of any risks that may arise from the ongoing escalation in the region.
