RACA holds workshop on launch of private charity bodies
QNA Doha The Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA) organised the first workshop on the commencement of private charitable organisations, following the successful completion of institutional and organisational modernisation requirements. Representatives of the organisations and several RACA officials participated in the workshop. In a statement on Wednesday, RACA said that the workshop included introductory presentations from its various departments, and detailed explanations of the latest updates, work mechanisms, and operational procedures, with the aim of enabling institutions to begin performing their duties within an organised and transparent work environment. In his speech during the opening of the workshop, Director of Licensing and Support at RACA Rashid Al Nuaimi said that this workshop represents a new starting point for a more organised and effective charitable role, commending the development efforts achieved during the past period. The Qatari society eagerly awaits the return of these institutions to the field of charitable and humanitarian work, and places great hopes on them to consolidate societal cohesion and promote sustainable development paths, he noted, expressing the authority's commitment to providing all forms of support and cooperation to enhance the efficiency of charitable and humanitarian work and enhance the readiness of institutions to carry out their roles in accordance with the highest standards of governance and transparency. Director of the Risk and Compliance Department at RACA Mohammed Al Qaed addressed the department's responsibilities, and the pivotal role it plays in promoting a culture of compliance within institutions, ensuring compliance with the legal and regulatory framework, particularly with regard to corporate governance, and measures to mitigate risks related to illicit financing. Other officials at RACA addressed several topics, including the axis of the obligations of private charitable institutions in light of the decisions of the Supreme Committee for Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing, in addition to individual application forms as well as the process on the electronic portal, licensing requirements, and project implementation, along with a review of services and how to access the portal. For her part, Director of Supervision and Control Department at RACA Eiman Al Absi gave a comprehensive presentation on the department's responsibilities, emphasising its vital role in monitoring institutional performance and assessing actual compliance, thus ensuring transparency in the implementation of charitable projects.

21 Apr 2025 17:53 OSAKA (WAM)In a moment charged with history and symbolism, Rashid Al Nuaimi, former Foreign Minister of the UAE, and the Commissioner General of the Abu Dhabi Pavilion at Expo 1970 Osaka, returned to the city to visit the UAE Pavilion at Expo five decades after leading the UAE's very first participation at a World Expo, Al Nuaimi's visit marks a powerful homecoming and a tribute to the country's enduring commitment to global dialogue and Al Nuaimi was received by Shihab Al Faheem, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to Japan and Commissioner General of the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 they toured the Pavilion, themed 'Earth to Ether', where Al Nuaimi experienced first-hand the pavilion's immersive, multisensory journey through the UAE's story, from its cultural heritage to its pioneering innovations across space exploration, healthcare, and sustainable his visit, Al Nuaimi also greeted the Pavilion's 46 Youth Ambassadors, comprising 24 Emiratis, 20 Japanese, and 2 Japanese-speaking residents. Chosen through a highly competitive selection process, the Youth Ambassadors play a key role in conveying the Pavilion's narrative, serving as a bridge between the UAE's story and the Pavilion visitors.'Expo '70 was an opportunity and a chance to showcase what we had, and also to demonstrate our resilience in working towards the future… It was also part of our Founding Father late Sheikh Zayed's vision and his boundless ambition for development.' said Al Nuaimi. Drawing inspiration from the UAE's cherished date palm tree, the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 reinterprets design possibilities for traditional Emirati areesh architecture using agricultural palm waste, fused with masterful Japanese woodworking expertise. At its heart stands a striking oasis of 90 date palm rachis columns, soaring up to 16 metres.
