RLD aims to strengthen grassroots presence in Rajasthan: Jayant Chaudhary
Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) President Jayant Chaudhary on Friday laid out the party's goal of strengthening its presence at the grassroots in Rajasthan, with particular focus on the youth. Speaking at a party programme in Jaipur, Chaudhary said that RLD will continue to fight for the rights of farmers, youths and marginalised communities, following the ideals of Chaudhary Charan Singh. "Our aim is to build a strong organisation by reaching every village and town. We will open 'Jan Sunwai' (public hearing) centres in these areas to engage directly with the people," he said. Chaudhary, a Union minister, pointed out that many helpful schemes fail to reach the underprivileged. "RLD will work to make sure that these schemes reach the people who need them the most," he said. The minister also discussed Central government's agricultural policies and confirmed that RLD would take an active role in implementing them at the grassroots level. "Farmers will play a key role in the next state elections," he said. Chaudhary-led RLD is an ally of the ruling National Democratic Alliance. The party's state president Joginder Singh Awana said that large rallies will be held in each division of Rajasthan, and later at the tehsil level.

RLD pushes for Brahmin welfare board in Uttar Pradesh
The Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), an ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday (June 29, 2025) demanded for the formation of a Brahmin welfare board in the State for the upliftment of the community. Criticising certain alleged nefarious elements for targeting the community, the RLD National Secretary Anupam Mishra added a comprehensive survey should be conducted to assess the socio-economic condition of the Brahmin community, forming the basis for a concrete policy. 'The Brahmin community has historically made a vital contribution to the cultural, educational, religious, and administrative growth of the State. Yet, in the current times, the community too is grappling with a range of socio-economic challenges. Certain nefarious elements are targeting the community like the case we saw in Etawah. There is a pressing need for targeted support to economically weaker sections within the Brahmin community, especially in the fields of education, healthcare, employment, and social empowerment. Therefore, I believe that the establishment of a Brahmin Welfare Board in Uttar Pradesh is the need of the hour,' told Mr. Mishra, to The Hindu. The RLD leader said he wrote a letter to U.P. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath this week, pressing the demand highlighting that several States such as Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, and more recently Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have already established dedicated boards or commissions for the welfare of Brahmins, which are actively implementing schemes to enhance the community's socio-economic condition. 'If the board is constituted, special schemes could be introduced for economically weaker Brahmin families, including scholarships, self-employment assistance, coaching support, and housing, apart from security and honorarium schemes for temple priests and Vedic scholars,' added Mr. Mishra. The demand holds significance in the light of various social organisations pressing their community issues amid widening caste centric divide.

RLD seeks Bharat Ratna for 1857 hero Mangal Pandey
Lucknow: BJP ally Rashtriya Lok Dal on Monday demanded that Mangal Pandey — the iconic figure of India's first War of Independence in 1857 — be conferred the Bharat Ratna. RLD national secretary Anupam Mishra made the demand while speaking to reporters in Ballia on Monday. He expressed disappointment that Pandey's role in India's freedom struggle has not received the recognition it rightfully deserves. "It is unfortunate that the contribution of such a great revolutionary remains unrecognised. It would be an honour for the award itself to be associated with a patriot of his stature," Mishra stated. Mishra, who arrived in Ballia on Sunday as part of the Amar Shaheed Samman Yatra, visited Pandey's ancestral village of Nagwa to pay homage. He also proposed the construction of a tall statue of Mangal Pandey in Ballia, asserting that his legacy warrants a monumental tribute. "Pandey's courage and sacrifice surpass many other icons of the freedom movement. Installing a grand statue here in his birthplace would be a fitting tribute and a source of inspiration for generations to come," he said. TNN

Congress conspiring with Pakistan: Uttar Pradesh Dy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya
Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 1 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya slammed Congress, accusing it of demoralising the army and stating that it would have to pay a political price for the act. 'Congress is conspiring with Pakistan... From surgical strikes to 'Operation Sindoor', the statements of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge have hurt the sentiments of 140 crore people of the country,' Maurya told ANI on Sunday. 'This is the language that demoralises the army, and they do not realise that they will have to pay such a huge political price for using this language... It is our and our army's resolve that Operation Sindoor is not over yet,' he added. Meanwhile, Malook Nagar of Rashtriya Lok Dal has criticised Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and other Opposition leaders for repeatedly questioning the government over the cessation of hostilities between India and Pakistan. Nagar asked why the Opposition continues to raise questions related to Pakistan, and suggested that they should focus on the country as a whole instead. Nagar criticised Kharge for seeking clarity on US President Donald Trump's claim of brokering the cessation of hostilities, saying, 'The Opposition should prioritise national interests over Pakistan-specific queries.' 'The Pakistani Minister is crying about India destroying their camps, and the political leaders of India are questioning the mission's objectives.' Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday demanded a special session of Parliament concerning Operation Sindoor, alleging that the government had 'misled the nation' and instead of clarifying US President Donald Trump's assertions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi 'is on an election blitz, taking personal credit for the valour of the armed forces.' In a post on X, Kharge referred to remarks made by the Chief of Defence Staff during an interview and demanded an independent expert committee's comprehensive review of the country's defence preparedness. Nagar defended Operation Sindoor, questioning AAP Leader Sanjay Singh's comments that allegedly insulted the mission's objective. 'Why does he keep repeating the same questions and insulting the mission? Love for the country should be the priority, not political power.', Nagar said. (ANI)
