Our Yorkshire Farm's Miles Owen gives sad verdict on dad Clive - as he's caught between two factions at Ravenseat

Our Yorkshire Farm 's Miles Owen shared a sad verdict on his dad Clive as he revealed he's caught between two factions at Ravenseat Farm. Miles, 17, dad Owen, 69, mum Amanda, 50, and his eight siblings are best known for appearing on the Channel 4 show between 2018 and 2022. The show followed the lives of the Owen family at the farm in Swaledale, North Yorkshire, and has then gone on to star in Our Farm Next Door, which launched on our screens last year. His brother Reuben landed his own spin-off, Reuben: Life In The Dales, and Miles recently spoke out about what he would like to do in the future while appearing on the show. But he mentioned a 'balance' because he's halving his time between helping his sibling Reuben, and his dad too, especially in the fallout from his hip replacement surgery. Miles said: 'I really enjoyed growing up on the farm. 'One of my jobs was doing the chickens, collecting the eggs, looking after them, and feeding them. 'I'm doing more work with the cows and the sheep at the moment. 'I've talked to Reuben about the digging side and me helping more, getting more involved with his company, which I wouldn't mind at all... 'But, I've got to balance it, because dad's getting on and he's slowing down a bit. 'So, I've got to help dad when it's needed and I can't leave him to manage. 'Then, when Reuben needs it and he gets stuck, I need to go and help him.' It comes after Amanda announced her epic career change away from Ravenseat Farm. The 50-year-old shepherdess is set to bring out her own children's books. Christmas Tales From The Farm, illustrated by Becca Hall, will be out in September and is written for eight to 12-year-olds. Speaking about her new project, Amanda said: 'I am absolutely delighted to have been given the opportunity to enter the world of children's books with renowned publishers, Puffin. 'As a mother myself I know firsthand the joy that books can bring to young readers and how a book can stay with you into adulthood, take you places and open up new worlds.' She added: 'To be taken under the wing of the Puffin family, publishers of some of my childhood favourites, is something that I could never have dreamed of being possible.' Amanda, who split from her husband Clive in 2022 after 22 years of marriage, also took to her Instagram page to share the news with fans. She said: 'I wanted to share with you the news of the latest addition to the farm... nope, not another woolly bundle of joy, no, it's my new children's book! 'What's it about you ask? What else could it be about other than the farm, the animals, children, nature, countryside and it's published by Puffin. 'And it's going to be out on 11th September.' Amanda wrote on the caption: 'News flash!! 'My first ever children's book Christmas Tales From the Farm is coming soon! 'Published on 11th September, this collection of stories shares some of our special memories of life on the farm, from the festive season to the animals and their adventures. 'Each story is brought to life by the gorgeous illustrations by Becca Hall throughout. Christmas Tales from the Farm will be published by Puffin, and is out 11th September in hardback. Many rushed to the comments section to share their excitement over her new project - with one saying they are going to treat themselves 'You can pre-order yours now!' Our Yorkshire Farm's Amanda Owen says 'time to finally explain myself' as she sets record straight on 'disgusting and disturbing' video that sparked fan backlash

Amanda Owen has set the record straight after 'disgusting and disturbing' video of her son Reuben sparked fan backlash on social media. At the start of May, the shepherdess, 50, shared a clip of her son Reuben, 21, laying on an ewe and lamb while helping her out on Ravenseat Farm in Swaledale, Yorkshire. The video received a number of negative comments in the comments section and Amanda has decided to speak out about the matter. Sharing a video of her milking an ewe, alongside some other snaps from lambing season, Amanda said: 'Here we go!!!! More disgusting and disturbing behaviour just for ewe. '*Obviously we haven't learnt anything, even after being slammed for the ill treatment of these woolly commodities* Time to finally explain myself. 'Amazingly enough it's been a busy couple of months, the physical birth element of lambing time is just a part of the picture.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The Our Yorkshire Farm star explained that after giving birth the animals can experience some issues. She continued: 'Post natal care is of utmost importance and consequently feeding issues can sometimes require a sheep to be caught in order to treat the issue. 'They are not particularly good patients but we treat them with care, compassion and as infrequently as possible. 'So far, after a lifetime of shepherding I have never had one willingly saunter over and request help with labour, breast feeding or any other minor ailment. 'Maybe it would be a lot easier to take care of them and handle them if they were all crammed into an industrial shed, not free to exercise and graze the meadows, moors & pastures????? 'But I reckon that we all know that being outside, free to wander and live naturally is a far better way for them. 'Incidentally the person most likely to be injured in the whole process of catching and restraining a sheep is me or even one of the sheepdogs.' Many rushed to the comments section to share their support. One said: 'U r amazing.' 'Great job Amanda and your passing all your knowledge and skills onto your children xxx.' 'Well said Amanda. Personally I wouldn't bother trying to explain yourself. These people obviously lack intelligence and can't begin to understand the bigger picture of what's required to keep a herd of sheep healthy and safe. They do say ignorance is bliss so they must live a very blissful life! Keep up the good work and completely side line these sad people with nothing better to do with their time but look for trouble. Love your programme Amanda..' 'You shouldn't have to explain anything.' 'Well said Amanda. I grew up on a sheep farm in the Peak District so do understand. It's when you get people commenting who haven't a clue, best to stay quiet if you have no experience.' It comes after last week Reuben defiantly hit back at critics after being slammed for the same video. In the clip, mum-of-nine Amanda can be heard saying: 'Well this is what you've been getting up to in lambing fields,' while Reuben is laying across an ewe and lamb. He then picks up the ewe by the horns and she tells her son: 'You did great there! And you got the lamb at the same time.' Amanda captioned the post: 'Caught ewe. Reuben downs tools and springs into action. '*Everyone lends a hand, there is no one exempt from lambing time tasks*.' Many rushed to the comments section to share their love with the shepherdess - and told her she shouldn't have to explain However, many fans were confused by the post and didn't like seeing Reuben handle the ewe as they didn't know what he was actually doing. Some took to leaving comments including, 'Why are you treating the ewe like that? Absolutely disgusting and I'm disappointed as I thought you were better than that.' Or, 'I didn't like how you held the sheep! Absolutely disturbing! Animals are treated with respect and not like trash!' In an interview with The Telegraph, Reuben responded to the online furore and said: 'I don't have the time or the inclination to scroll through social media.' The young farmer added: 'If you do ever see me on my phone, I'll be searching for machinery sales.' Some did jump to the 21-year-old's defence however and penned: 'Please ignore comments from any animal activist… if we all listened to them nothing would ever get done and we'd all be starving by now . Carry on farming.' Another said: 'Kindness is a gift, if you cannot say anything nice please say nothing at all.' Our Farm Next Door, which premiered last year on More4, follows Amanda and ex-husband Clive, 69, renovating an abandoned farmhouse alongside their kids Raven, 23, Reuben, 21, Miles, 18, Edith, 16, Violet, 14, Sidney, 13, Annas, 11, Clemmy, nine, and Nancy, eight. Earlier this month Amanda said she is 'suffering sleepless nights' after facing 'daunting and difficult decisions' in the show. The roof of the derelict property had no slates on it at all, leaving the Owen family starting from scratch to make sure it was warm and dry. Their builder Richard needed Amanda to decide which slates she wanted, asking, '15 or 16 inch wide?' - and pointing to one , saying: 'What we are thinking is this but we need a decision.' She appeared completely overwhelmed by indecision, replying: 'Oh no, is it up to me?' Explaining her decision-making paralysis, she said: 'Trying to get everything all joined up is so difficult. I never realised there was so much planning going into this. 'Richard is brilliant but Richard still has questions that need answering and it's trying to keep everyone happy. 'It's still quite daunting and it still gives me quite a few sleepless nights.' The builder admitted it was 'quite hard' to put the 'big, heavy slates' on the precarious farmhouse, known as Anty John's and near the Owen family's Ravenseat Farm. Amanda and Owen split in 2022 after 22 years of marriage.

Reuben Owen admits Amanda and Clive 'grew apart' as he addresses split

Reuben Owen, star of Our Yorkshire Farm, has candidly admitted: "I know how it went" as he discussed his parents' separation. Reuben, who shot to fame on Our Yorkshire Farm alongside his parents, Amanda and Clive Owen, and his siblings, now headlines his own show, Life in the Dales. Amanda and Clive, who announced their split in 2022, continue to live and work together at Ravenseat Farm. While the couple has previously discussed their split, Reuben has now given his perspective in a fresh interview. "The media still likes to dig up my parents' separation, making out there was some massive battle when there wasn't," Reuben shared with the Telegraph, reports Leeds Live. "I know how it went, and it was all very amicable. They grew apart and split up, but they are still brilliant parents, whether they're together or not." He continued: "Every now and again, there will be a headline about some little thing that has been blown up out of all proportion. But you can't be on telly and then expect people not to be interested in what you're doing off-screen." In June 2022, Amanda and Clive released a statement regarding their separation; however, in a subsequent appearance on Lorraine, Clive confessed that he "played a massive part" in the split. During the 2023 broadcast, Clive admitted: "It was amazing and successful, I handled it very badly. It was such a change in our life, and I sadly made a right mess of things basically, and I had a massive part to play in our relationship ending. "One of the things I hear is 'poor Clive' and I feel that isn't right. We filmed Our Yorkshire Farm, people loved it and the plan, Amanda's plan was we don't own the farm but this is security," he clarified. He further emphasised how fame affected them, stating: "We had this plan to make it more secure as a family so that's what drove her, it was amazing and successful. "I handled it very badly, it was such a change in our life, and I sadly made a right mess of things, and I had a massive part to play in our relationship ending, a massive part to play." Not only does Reuben feature in a new series with his family titled Our Farm Next Door, but series two of Life in the Dales will premiere on Tuesday night. The synopsis for the first episode of the series states: "The Our Yorkshire Farm star continues to build his heavy plant machinery business in the Yorkshire Dales. "As summer arrives in the Dales, Reuben prepares land around a stone barn in neighbouring Cumbria, so homeowner John can commence major renovation works. "At a farmer's quarry, Reuben attempts to crush 10,000 tons of stone and building waste, so the spoil can be used to make tracks around the farm."
