Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called it "a sad and difficult day," stating, "On behalf of all the citizens of Israel, my wife and I send our deepest condolences to the families of our four heroic fighters who fell in Gaza in the campaign to defeat Hamas and return our hostages." Defense Minister Israel Katz expressed his hopes for the wounded soldiers' recovery and posted on X/Twitter, "There are no words that can comfort the magnitude of the loss." He added that the soldiers acted "with strength and determination against a cruel enemy, for the security of our citizens and for the release of the kidnapped." President Isaac Herzog underscored the national pain. "The cost of war is extremely heavy. This is a time of great sorrow — but also of great commitment: To stand behind the generation of heroic warriors, to embrace the families of the fallen, and to ensure that their names and heroism are never forgotten. An entire nation is overwhelmed with grief." Opposition leader and Yesh Atid head Yair Lapid remarked, "Every Shabbat table in Israel will be quieter and sadder tonight." Former prime minister Naftali Bennett acknowledged the devastation for the bereaved families. "The people of Israel grieve with you and surround you with all their love. The boys fell in action in the heart of Khan Yunis against Hamas murderers. How sad. How painful." National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir also offered his condolences and wrote in a Facebook post that he is "praying together with all the people of Israel for the recovery of the wounded." Just before Shabbat, Likud MK and Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana expressed his condolences to the friends and families of those killed. Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister Yariv Levin called the news unbearable. "I send my heartfelt condolences to the families of Warr. Ofc. Chen Gross, St.-Sgt. Yoav Raver, and the two other fighters whose names have not yet been released, and I wish a swift recovery to the soldiers wounded in the same incident.' Energy and Infrastructure Minister Eli Cohen added, 'I send my condolences to the families who lost their most precious loved ones defending the country, and wish a speedy recovery to the soldiers wounded in this difficult incident." Echoing the grief felt nationwide, Economy and Industry Minister Nir Barkat reflected, 'They went to fight for the country they loved so much, courageously battling on the frontlines against a cruel enemy for the security of us all." Democrats MKs, Naama Lazimi and Gilad Kariv, also sent condolences to the family and friends of the killed soldiers, noting the significance of their loss to them.

The names of two soldiers have not yet been cleared for publication and will be published later. Their families have been notified. The IDF announced on Friday that four Israeli soldiers were killed and another wounded in Khan Yunis, Gaza Strip, when a bomb detonated, causing a building to collapse on the troops clearing the area. ‘Grey's Anatomy' Star Kim Raver On Directing Big Teddy-Cass Scene

Sophia Bush and Kim Raver in the "Grey's Anatomy" episode "Don't You (Forget About Me)." Grey's Anatomy featured a big character development for Kim Raver and Sophia Bush's characters Dr. Teddy Altman and Dr. Cass Beckman on Thursday night and Raver is thrilled that she was able to take on roles in front of and behind the camera to direct it. The episode, titled Don't You (Forget About Me) gave the acclaimed actor her second opportunity to step behind the camera for creator Shonda Rhimes' classic ABC medical drama after she was at the helm of episode Training Day in Season 19 in 2023. Note: Spoilers from Don't You (Forget About Me) are discussed throughout the rest of the article. Among the major developments in Thursday night's episode of Grey's Anatomy is Teddy acting on mutual feeling for Cass after the two kiss in the March 20 episode I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For. While Cass is in an open marriage, Teddy's marriage to Dr. Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) is on the rocks, which factors into why the chief of surgery at the Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital decides to tell Cass that she's figured out that she wants to take a shot at a romantic relationship after the two cross paths at a medical conference in Oakland. 'It's a very interesting topic that we are breaching with open marriage. It's something that people are going to argue about that is conflicting for many people,' Ravers said in a Zoom conversation on Wednesday. 'People have fans and people are going to have a lot of emotions and reactions towards it one way or another, but that's what Grey's Anatomy does," Raver added. "It brings in topics to have conversations about and those arguments of who's right and who's wrong and who's ruining your relationship or not ruining your relationship, or expanding on a relationship that's right for one person that isn't right for another person.' Raver said when Grey's Anatomy showrunner Meg Marinis brought the idea for the episode to her and McKidd, both of them took the major development in the story of their flailing marriage very seriously and approached it with the utmost care. 'Meg did an incredible job when the idea [of an open marriage] was first brought to Kevin and I,' Raver recalled. 'We are very protective of our characters' relationship that we've built over so many years between Teddy and Owen. Meg really listened and we discussed what would be the most interesting way and adult way to broach a marriage that is not doing well and what would that mean to our characters and what that would look like.' Sophia Bush and Kim Raver in the "Grey's Anatomy" episode "Don't You (Forget About Me)." Teddy and Cass' mutual attraction for each other involves much more than a kiss on Grey's Anatomy on Thursday night, which meant Kim Raver would have a tall order in directing herself and Sophia Bush in a love scene. While filming a love scene is a daunting task for any actor, the fact that Raver was calling her own shots in Don't You (Forget About Me) made the idea of Teddy's intense scene with Cass much less intimidating. Kim Raver on the set of the "Grey's Anatomy episode "Don't You (Forget About Me)." 'I felt every single person in our crew wanted the best for me and were so supportive of me,' Raver explained. 'I actually felt much more comfortable in the scene because I knew that I would be the one choosing the shots. Creating the painting of a love scene can sometimes feel very uncomfortable because you don't [what you'll] feel like or what it will look like. [But directing] it allowed me to really try different things and feel comfortable in it.' While Teddy and Cass' love scene is intense, it comes to an abrupt halt before it goes even further because Teddy has a crisis of conscience. Teddy thought she had things figured out and she doesn't so she opts to back out of things [with Cass] because of it,' Raver said. 'She realizes that it's not going to fix her marriage and I kind of loved that. I love that you know she's trying to find the path and that [being with Cass] was not the path.' However, in another major development in Don't You (Forget About Me), Owen's approach to his and Teddy's crumbling marriage takes a different path when he is reunited with an old friend, Nora (Floriana Lima). The episode ends with Owen in bed with Nora — and Raver knows it's going to spark a big reaction with the Grey's Anatomy fan base. 'People are going to be throwing their popcorn at the television going, 'What? Are you kidding me?'' Raver said with a smile. While Raver's Grey's Anatomy episode Don't You (Forget About Me) aired on ABC Thursday night, it is now available to stream on Hulu.

‘Grey's Anatomy' Star Kim Raver Reflects On Series' 20th Anniversary

Kim Raver stars as Dr. Teddy Altman in "Grey's Anatomy." Longtime Grey's Anatomy star Kim Raver — who stars as Dr. Teddy Altman on the series — said she's thrilled to be a part of something 'extraordinary' as the acclaimed ABC medical drama celebrates its 20th anniversary. 'It's extraordinary with the amount of episodes that we get to do, especially now,' Raver, who started on Grey's Anatomy in 2009, said in a Zoom conversation Wednesday. 'You know, most episodic runs now are seven to eight episodes. But for a long time, we've been doing 20, 24, 26 [episodes] and now we're doing 18 and that's still huge … That's so incredible as an artist to be able to tell the story of the characters over such a long arc of time.' Grey's Anatomy officially turned 20 on March 27, two decades after the pilot episode for the classic series aired in 2005. Created by Shonda Rhimes, Grey's Anatomy, of course, chronicles the personal and professional lives of the doctors at Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital. Raver made her debut on Grey's Anatomy on Nov. 12, 2009, which was the ninth episode of Season 6. Following a five-year break after Season 8 in 2012, Raver returned Seattle Grace at the beginning of Season 14 in 2017 and has been with Grey's Anatomy ever since. Raver also directed Episode 11 — Training Day — in Season 19 in 2023, and returns to the director's chair to helm Thursday's episode, titled Don't You (Forget About Me). Approaching the 450 episode mark, Grey's Anatomy stars Ellen Pompeo (Dr. Meredith Grey), Chandra Wilson (Dr. Miranda Bailey) and James Pickens Jr. (Dr. Richard Webber), who have been with the series from the very beginning. Since then, the likes of Patrick Dempsey (Dr. Derek 'McDreamy' Shepherd), Katherine Heigl (Dr. Izzie Stevens), Sandra Oh (Dr. Christina Yang), T.R. Knight (Dr. George O'Malley) and Kate Walsh (Dr. Addison Montgomery) have come and gone through the doors of Seattle Grace, but the series in its 21st season is as strong as it's ever been. In addition to Pompeo, Wilson, Pickens and Raver, today's lineup includes Kevin McKidd (Dr. Owen Hunt), Camilla Ludington (Dr. Jo Wilson), Caterina Scorsone (Dr. Amelia Shepherd) and Debbie Allen (Dr. Catherine Fox) — one of the many cast members who have doubled as a director and executive producer on the series — as well as several other series regulars, recurring and guest stars. (Photo by) Thursday night's episode is particularly special for Kim Raver since it marks the second episode she's directing in the series. Raver is in front of the camera, too, of course, as Dr. Teddy Altman, the Chief of Surgery at the Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital, and she is thrilled to be directing herself in a huge character development that will unfold during the episode. The excitement Raver said she feels for Thursday's episode is an extension of the blessings she's felt all along as a cast member and creative on Grey's Anatomy. Ultimately, Raver said, she's forever thankful to Shonda Rhimes for not only the opportunities she's had on the series, but for what Rhimes has meant to the entire Grey's Anatomy family since the show kicked off in 2005. 'It really starts with Shonda Rhimes and the voice that she found in telling these stories … that's the thing that I love most,' Raver said, humbly. 'Also, I think what makes this show so sustainable over such a long period of time is that these characters aren't perfect. They're messy. They make mistakes. They're in their real lives. I mean, yes. Sometimes they're very heightened situations — they have their hero moments and they have their moments where they really fall from grace. 'That's what I've loved about Teddy, that she's ever-evolving … Shonda has never shied away from allowing the characters their many moments,' Raver added. 'There are things that they get right and things that they get wrong.' While Raver can't be grateful enough for the opportunity to work with Rhimes and her fellow cast and crew members, she also noted that the show wouldn't exist if not for the love of it from viewers. 'The fans of the show have been with us for so long,' Raver enthused. 'The fan base is so incredible.' Bush returns for Episode 13, which is airing Thursday. Raver, naturally, can't wait for the enormous fan base of Grey's Anatomy to see Thursday's episode. The official logline for Don't You (Forget About Me) reads, "Amelia and Simone attempt to perform a high-stakes and groundbreaking brain surgery. Teddy and Bailey attend a medical conference and run into Dr. Cass Beckman. Meanwhile, Jo struggles with her irritation toward a younger OB-GYN.' 'The episode is very large in creative and emotional arcs within each character,' Raver teased. Raver discussed in spoiler-filled detail the events of Thursday's episode, which will be published in a new interview feature on Friday — so check back for the episode wrap-up. Grey's Anatomy Season 21, Episode 13 — Don't You (Forget About Me) — airs Thursday night on ABC at 10 p.m. ET/PT and 9 p.m. CT. The episode will begin streaming on Hulu on Friday.
