‘Killer who shot dead American Idol exec & husband called 911 in home pretending to be them' 4 days before bodies found

A SUSPECTED shooter called 911 and pretended to be American Idol executive Robin Kaye and her husband after murdering them, prosecutors have claimed. It took four days for cops to find the bodies of Kaye and her songwriter husband Thomas Deluca, both 70, despite them directly speaking with 22-year-old suspect Raymond Boodarian. 6 6 On July 10 at around 4 pm, cops got a 911 call from the couple's neighbor, who said they thought they saw someone breaking into their $3.4 million mansion in Los Angeles, California. Just 40 minutes later, first responders got a second call from a man claiming to be a resident, and he told the operator that they didn't need help from police. At some point during the call, the dispatcher heard someone say "Please don't shoot me" and deployed officers, a search warrant affidavit filed by the Los Angeles Police Department says. According to Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman, the second call was placed by the suspect, who identified himself at some point in the conversation, he told reporters at a briefing on Monday. Jennifer Forkish, the LAPD communications director, said cops raced to the scene and that they deployed a police airship known as Air 16 to survey the property. However, first responders couldn't get into the property because the entrances were locked and no one, including the neighbor, was answering their calls, Forkish said. Officers in the helicopter also couldn't see any sign that a break-in had taken place, so they left the home. Hochman has not explained how or why Boodarian gave his full name. It wasn't until June 14 at around 2:30 pm that officers would find Kaye and Deluca's bodies during a wellness check. A friend of the couple said they hadn't heard from them in several days and gave cops a key card to get inside the wall surrounding their property. American Idol music supervisor Robin Kaye and husband Thomas Deluca both 'murdered inside LA home' When they came to the doors, cops saw signs that something was wrong and burst through a glass window to get inside. Kaye and Deluca were found dead with gunshot wounds to the head. Boodarian was arrested the following day. Investigators found what they believe to be the murder weapon and said it was the couple's own gun. 6 6 6 COMMUNITY TERROR After Boodarian was cuffed, it was revealed he had a violent criminal history, and residents were furious that he was allowed to roam the streets. The suspect, who is from Encino and lived a 13 minute drive from the couple, was charged with battery and exhibiting a deadly weapon over a year before his latest arrest. However, he was deemed mentally incompetent, and the charges were dropped, court documents seen by KABC show. The suspect was also charged with brandishing a knife and making threats against his stepfather in 2023, as well as battery against his mother and sister in 2024. But those charges were also dismissed. Kaye and Deluca's home was broken into just weeks before they were attacked, and they had tried to crack down on security to prevent any other incidents, according to friends of the couple. Furious community members have begged for a crackdown on crime and opened up about disturbing red flags they saw in the suspect. One person living in the neighborhood said that Boodarian would "sit in front of my friend's house just staring and smiling," according to the New York Post. "He did that on multiple occasions, sometimes in his own house, just looking out the window and smiling." Boodarian has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree burglary, and he's being held without bail in a Los Angeles correctional facility. His next court appearance has been scheduled for August 20.

Man charged in the killings of an 'American Idol' exec and her husband called 911 afterward, DA says

The man accused of killing an 'American Idol' executive and her husband used the couple's gun to kill them and later called the police, authorities allege. Los Angeles police previously said they responded to a 911 call about a burglary that afternoon, July 10, but left after finding 'no signs of forced entry or trouble.' Officers found the bodies of Robin Kaye and Thomas Deluca four days later at their home in the Encino neighborhood of Los Angeles while carrying out a welfare check. They had been shot to death. During a town hall meeting Monday, Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman told concerned residents that the man charged in the killings, Raymond Boodarian, made the initial 911 call, ABC7 reported. He said Boodarian used a gun registered to one of the victims in the attack, which authorities believe happened when they arrived home unexpectedly while he was burglarizing the place. Boodarian, 22, was arrested the day after the bodies were found. His lawyer, Brad Siegel, didn't immediately respond to an Associated Press voicemail Tuesday seeking comment. Kaye had been with 'American Idol,' the hit singing competition TV series, for more than 15 years and was working on the upcoming season at the time of her death. She had also worked in the music departments of several other productions, including 'The Singing Bee,' 'Hollywood Game Night,' 'Lip Sync Battle,' and several Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants.

The suspect in the grisly murders of an "American Idol" music executive and her husband allegedly shot the couple with their own gun and then called 911 himself. Initial reports claimed the suspect was burglarizing the couple's home on July 10 while nobody was there. Raymond Boodarian, 22, allegedly shot Robin Kaye and Thomas DeLuca when they suddenly returned. During a town hall meeting Monday, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman revealed the new details. Hochman alleged Boodarian gave his name when he called 911 on July 10, ABC7 reported. "The house is fortified. It has seven, eight-foot-high walls with metal spikes that are welded onto the tips of the walls there. The vehicle gate was closed, also spiked. They had no means of entering via gate code like they did on the date of the welfare check," LAPD Lt. Guy Golan told Fox News Digital about the July 10 response. "They did request a flyover by our airship, which did happen," he added. "There were no signs of forced entry during this flyover. And again, that the suspect entered the property without force and entry. So there were no signs of burglary. And regarding what evidence there was in the front porch, it was not visible by air due to the foyer having a kind of a cover over it there at the front of the house. So the airship was not able to see what the officers observed during the welfare check." Suspect in American Idol exec killing used couple's gun and then called 911 after deadly shooting

The man accused of killing American Idol executive Robin Kaye and her husband inside their Los Angeles home allegedly used the couple's gun in the shootings – and called the police after the shooting, authorities said. Raymond Boodarian, 22, allegedly used a gun owned by Kaye and her husband, Thomas Deluca, to kill the couple, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman revealed Monday during a town hall, according to Eyewitness News. After the fatal shooting of the 70-year-old pair, Boodarian called 911 from his cellphone and provided his name, which was how police tracked him down, Hochman added. "We're having phenomenal numbers on crime reduction. That being said when two wonderful people end up dead in their own home, those crime statistics fall kind of flat," LAPD Deputy Chief Marla Ciuffetelli told town hall attendees. The LAPD said they've ramped up patrols throughout the Encino area, where the couple lived, as some residents now say they are worried about crime in the neighborhood. 'The crime is out of control,' Encino resident Deborah Palace told Eyewitness News. 'You don't even feel safe going to sleep in your own home.' Boodarian, who had battery charges against him dismissed before he was placed in a conservatorship last year, was arrested five days after the killing 'without incident,' police said. Three misdemeanor cases against Boodarian were dismissed last year, with court documents revealing that in the months prior, he was deemed mentally incompetent. After a mental health evaluation, he was then placed in a conservatorship, allowing another adult to be in charge of his major life decisions, according to NBC Los Angeles. The mental health evaluation's findings were not made public, but court records indicated that he was released from jail. Boodarian's also faced charges of brandishing a knife and criminal threats against his stepfather in 2023, as well as battery against his mother and sister in 2024. All three misdemeanor cases were dismissed late last year. The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office declined to say how Boodarian's mental health evaluation may affect their ability to prosecute the new murder case. Authorities said Kaye and Deluca were shot to death on July 10, around the same time that a neighbor called 911 to report seeing a man scaling a wall that surrounds their home. 'While there were no signs of forced entry or trouble at the location during the investigation, it is now believed that the suspect had gained entry into the residence through an unlocked door,' police said. Kaye and Deluca had returned home to find the suspect, which ultimately led to a deadly confrontation. Boodarian is believed to have run away after the shooting. The couple hadn't been seen for several days when officers were called back to the home for a welfare check and found their bodies. According to local reports, the pair was found in different rooms of their home, with Deluca in the bathroom and Kaye in the pantry. The couple died from multiple gunshot wounds, authorities said. Kaye worked as a music supervisor for American Idol from 2002 to 2023, according to her IMDb biography. She contributed to nearly 300 episodes of the singing competition show. She also won three Guild of Music Supervisors awards for her contributions to the reality show. Before working on the talent show, Kaye launched her own record company, SyncroniCity, in 2000. Deluca also had a music career, working as a songwriter and musician. His album 'Down To The Wire' was released by Epic Records in 1986, according to his website. His most recent effort, 'Street Rock,' came out in 2022. A spokesperson for American Idol said they were 'devastated to hear of Robin and her dear husband, Tom's, passing.' "Robin has been a cornerstone of the 'Idol' family since 2009 and was truly loved and respected by all who came in contact with her. Robin will remain in our hearts forever and we share our deepest sympathy with her family and friends during this difficult time,' the statement continued. Their deaths are being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Bureau Homicide Division.
